There’s a current imbalance in the stone axe recipes: the old shovel recipe requires only 1 stone, rather than the 3 for the other two recipes. Maybe remove it: how many people will be trying to make a stone shovel anyway, since dirt and sand are quick to dig by hand?

I think it is the most realistic of the stone tool recipes… when is the last time you lifted 3 cubic meters of solid cobblestone fixed to a stick? I would recommend making these recipes use stone chunks, being they are among the most useless items in game… Christmas trees… They are at the top of the -most-useless list in my book. I like Christmas, but, seriously? These trees are begging for refinement/replacement/removal.

cut trees are normal; cross chunk tree generation cannot happen without monumental performance killing cross-chunk examination. That would require a very different terrain generation strategy than we currently have.

It seems dirted trees are more common when the trunks are closer to chunk boundaries. One dirted tree seems to setup the whole area for corrupt tree generation.

In many areas, shadows create dark black walls. A nearby block update fixes this for the affected area. Dirt trees seem to favor moderately cold/humid areas, where dense spruce and birch forests spawn.

The new lighting method amplifies an existing issue with light passing through adjacent blocks at their corners. The new model makes this long-overlooked rendering odditie noticeable enough to call a bug. I only now speak up about this because the “issue” helped in cave exploration in all prior versions, allowing for easy identification of nearby/overhead magma chambers, and surface areas that just didn’t open.

I have a question. Now that world height is doubled to 256, how would that change the chunk dat format. I would imagine that the number of blocks in a chunk would change and thus the block index formula would have to be changed also. Updating the chunk file specification would be helpful.

Hi, Kaalus! First things first, this update/demo is AMAZING! Everything is soo coool!

The only thing I noticed is that in the furnance when you put a light colored fuel block (such as plain colored wooden planks) in the fuel area, you can see the word “fuel” on the wooden planks. This is less obvious on darker fuel blocks (such as charcoal blocks). Not sure if this is an issue since I also noticed this on Survivalcraft 2 2.1.

Another thing that I noticed is that when I was flying around was a dark hole/opening towards the bottom of a mountain. When I placed a torch, it was only one block deep. Then when I destroyed the torch, the hole/opening was lightened up just like the other holes/openings on the mountains.

Other than that, everything is great!

Thanks for the new update and demo Kaalus! Suvivalcraft & Suvivalcraft 2 is awesome!

    Awe, man…

Kaalus, you fixed the exploit that allowed us to break the bottom layer of bedrock! Honestly, I saw this one coming, as I did also notice the fixed world-cap block transparency issue.

I am curious, Are you aware of the bug that allows water to behave like air when only source blocks of water are above the player? This is something I found a while back using a tool I made. If water source blocks (non-source-blocks may spoil the glitch; although I am not entirely sure anymore) are used to make a “tower” that connects to the very highest block in the world, water physics and fog rendering break down. Gravity remains normal, player movement does not change (you walk, not swim), the world around you darkens, from the water, but visibility range is unhindered (fog does not render normally),…

All this said, you still down; which is not surprising, as that mechanic is handled differently.

    That bug is fixed…
    I found anther one!
When breaking light sources, or removing them, their particles lighting effects are sorta inverted. breaking a torch in an causes full color breaking particles to spawn, even if the area is completely dark after breaking the torch. some cases have block breaking particles spawn completely black, despite having a light source nearby.

Water transparency is kind’a broke where rendering chunks meet… Just put some water on a block some height above the ground… the look upwards through the water (from outside of the column) at the sky… You will quickly spot the problem

Oh, Kaalus, It just dawned on me…
Your treasure generators are fully random during runtime. While this is reasonable, it does make for some headachingly unnecessary uncertainty while playing on my favorite seeds… It would not be unreasonable to link treasure generator drops to the world seed. The loot data for treasure generators could be stored in those 18 bits of block state data you are currently not using for this particular. block type.

There would be 8 leftover bits of data. These could be used to code for how many of an item will drop from that generator (imagine 255 large gunpowder kegs in a grave you just happen to spawn next to!).

of course, you have to make limitations on drop count, but this is not outlandish!
this enhances the game by making cools seeds even better!

Since Flame Arrows are more expensive in terms of resources than Iron Arrows, Flame Arrows should stay between Iron and Diamond arrow in terms of efficiency. (Better than Iron, worse than Diamond imho)

Come on, i thought this game was being balanced. You keep the weapons that we wanted, then make them nearly useless. It took me countless arrows to hit a boar, while sneaking even. And locking the tool types behind levels? Were gonna be stuck with the heavily nerfed tools until we level up, which we get less experience now to boot. And if we die? No more using the higher tier tools. I love this game, i really do. Thats why these things bother me so. I dont understand these changes at all. These are just my thoughts. I seriously love this game, i just want it to remain accessible and fun

A bit of an edit. I noticed now that tools of higher tiers just need the levels to craft them, not use them. That takes a bit of a load off. But my points still stand on the weaker weapons being too nerfed. It could put some new players off that they cant fight efficiently.

Thermometers dont respect amplitude temperature differences. You can be on top of a high mountain freezing to death and itll say the temp is maxed out still. I found this by making a +16 temperature world because I wanted to see if mountains would still have ice. They do but the thermometer doesnt change with it

A few more things I noticed on Survivalcraft 2 Day One:

        * The built-in screenshot function does not actually save the screenshots, the game also doesn’t ask for permission to do that.

        * Sounds may not play properly (somethings just sound different, specially on the menus) or some crackling-like sounds will play. AudioTrack Caching doesn’t help. This is also present on the Android version of 2.1, but not on the iOS version.

        * The game does not correct display for devices with rounded edges, and some things (the FPS part of the FPS Counter and part of the “…” button) will show on a part of the screen that is not visible.

BUG : Because of the new lighting model, during the day, where there is no light, it is completely dark and nothing can be seen.
suggestion: I am always expecting 3D sound effect. While playing the game, I have no idea where the sound exactly comes from. Left? Right? Near? Far? That’s not realistic for a mankind with two ears.

I might be repeating saying this but, when are you going to add spatial/surround sound? I know it’s annoying but it’s really hard to play the game hearing wolves while mining as if it’s right next to you. It’s highly unrealistic and it is more hard to do strategic hunting.

Just tried it out and died in about 7 to 10 min because of flu as it started to rain, once I actually had material I couldn’t use it as I had flu and my guy kept sneezing every 2 seconds. So much for it to be harder to get.. this is why I stopped playing this game, it’s just stupid hard now. I cant even piller up and get out of a hole is even more stupid.. why not have these features able to turn on or off is beyond me.. if people want a stupid hard game let them. If people like me want to actually enjoy a game let me too. I dont want it to be simple with harmless mode and go straight to stupid hard in challenging mode just so I can have animals behave normal and attack me.. maybe make a new game mode so challenging is like it used to be will placing blocks, then go hard core with cruel as the new challenging and “punishing” as the new cruel mode, if that makes sense.. I enjoy the features you add and make, but it’s not fun to starve and die on day one. I’m honestly annoyed that I’m hating a game I once loved. Please fix if you can add a new mode for us who want the middle ground of hard but not crazy hard.. to piller up is not “cheating” it’s the foundation of these types of games and what makes them so great. Please listen and satisfy many people like me who want some of the old mixed with the new.. thanks..

Honestly I didn’t like too much the feature of not being able to place blocks while in the air, it feels really awkward. And I know where you’re coming from with all those changes! You wanna make the game more difficult, making it so you need levels to craft metal items, making the character running 20% slower when walking backwards (when do you want to walk backwards? Of course when fighting bears, jaguars and everything, that is, this will affect a lot in the combats. I also didn’t like the new “Universal Stone Axe” tool which is used to mine all three types of block in the game (dirt, wood and stone types). If you really wanna make the game more difficult, then add more menacing creatures, such as snakes or anything, because these changes is just making the game less funny. And please don’t tell me that I will have to buy Survivalcraft again just to have the new update, that by the way untill now doesn’t seem to really improve things, but making it worse!!!!

Hello, Kaalus, I have a question for you. Stone axe has three recipes, which needs two wooden sticks and three stones or two wooden sticks and one stone. So in challenge mode, I will make a stone axe with two wooden sticks and one stone instead of three stones, which means other two recipes are useless. Is this reasonable?

Hmmmm, if you manage to push out a few more major updates (really just 1 more tbh), making Survivalcraft free could be a pretty big boost in sales

Since Survivalcraft 2 is out, nobody who knows of it is very likely to buy the original. And if they don’t know and buy the original, they might feel ripped off seeing a newer better version for a similar price. Or maybe coming from a video and accidentally getting the wrong version.

Meanwhile people who get the original for free will see that there is a vastly improved 2nd version. And after trying and liking the 1st for free they might be more inclined to check out the second and buy.

Meanwhile Survivalcraft 1 is likely to get pretty popular due to the price and quality. Giving it even more of a boost.

Basically it could become the new demo, just without a time limit, but instead not having the pretty major new features. You can even keep Survivalcraft 2 day one as a trail for the upgrade.

    Also
All the people getting that rip off version/app on the play store called mini block craft right now would instead be getting the actual game, just a less modern version of it. … (Please take action on that btw)

The original will likely need another update to stabilize performance and add a link showcasing Survivalcraft 2 saying the original is pretty much officially discontinued beyond stuff like occasional bug fixes fixing stuff like Dropbox

i suggest adding some sort of metallurgy system:
*Adding more Ores like Zinc ect…
    *Adding a mettalurgy system : BlackSmithing System / Melting Down ores / Crucibles / Making Alloys(Exp: Zinc+Copper = Bronze) / Blast Furnace/ Tool molds .
*Instead of Diamond tools and armor(that aren’t very realistic) adding Steal instead that can be made using a blastfurnace with iron and coal .
*Add ceramic jugs (made from clay) for drinking water .

The log textures should be changed, I mean, the spruce looks like the oak but with different color tone, the mimosa texture looks like oak…
The new mountain generations needs some tweaks, because they are generating too often. Of course they are awesome, but they generate too often for being realistic. Also mountain ranges would be awesome.

Yeah, you’re right. I noticed that too, now mountains generate too often and that makes the recent generated worlds a little bit weird, since there’s only mountains everywhere. Also I think he should remove level requirements to craft tools such as iron machetes or anything. I think that because level is something that takes time (quite a lot to tell the truth) to get and when you die you lose it. So it would be ridiculous if you had packs and packs of iron stocked and then accidentally you fall on a lava pit for example, and when you go home to craft more tools since you lost all your items, you can’t because you need levels. There’s a lot of things that I so far didn’t like/found weird in this update! I hope he fixes this soon

Thank you so much for the new trial version, Kaalus! I enjoyed pretty much everything!
I’d like to report some bugs.
-I’ve found some blocks with a black side, mostly in lines, on high mountains, on shadowy places. The bug disappears simply by placing a block attached to or near them.
-Breaking ice blocks on cold biomes lower ground still turns into water. Shouldn’t it be like on top of high mountains, allowing harvesting the ice block? Or, did you make like this on purpose, not to help us on iglus constructions?
-The soundtracks on main screen sometimes have a small interruption, then the songs change abruptly, not having a smooth fading transition like before. My phone is a little old, but that doesn’t happen on 2.1.14.0/2.1.17.0.
-Sometimes (it’s a bit rare to happen) the rain has no sound. It can be fixed by quitting and reopening the world. This already happened to me on v2.1.14.0.
    Thanks again!

If this versions has so many bugs for simple tweaks (the biggest here is the new mountains), it means that there’s something big behind, but not yet activated. No, isn’t multiplayer but something else that is as awesome as MP.

    Multiplayer? Aah well…

Would still like the old single tower building. The new way might be off-putting for MC migrants. Be different for sure, but be careful to be too different.

Otherwise it seems like a great update.

Land generation: look at generating plateaus and canyons (with rivers sometimes) in a future update please.

Please increase texture resolutions please. This should be fairly easy to do.

Hi! I hope You’ll notice this. Let’s start, shall we?

So… I’ve spent the whole day playing 2.2 on my PC. You’ve done a great job! I had to rethink my combat and building tactics, which was interesting. Also, new terrain looks amazingly picturesque, I fell in love with it and new stone multitool. Good job in adding particles for snow and rain. Now the bad things.

Firstly, why don’t buckets stack anymore? Even empty ones! Hope this is a bug.
Secondly, in “Help” menu you have to change sign of buttons changing hotbar slots from “1-6” to “1-0”. Oh, also add in recipaedia description of mimosa saplings.
And FINALLY. Compost. Man, no offense, but this is completely stupid mechanics. End does not justifies the means. I’ve got so many questions, omg. How 1 piece of meat turns into 1x1x1 block? Why compost has to be a block? This is so ineffective! You wait the whole eternity for meat turning into blocks of compost. Then you place these blocks, gather your harvest only 1(!!!) time. Then what? Should you dig out the whole field and replace blocks? Oh, no, a better decision! Should you place new compost blocks above old ones? Why didn’t you add compost as a consumable? It would be great if it worked just like saltpetre, fertilizing 3×3 area. Maybe not for 3 harvests but for only one, that would be ok, if food decayed faster.

There will not be a single word about multiplayer. I bet you feel like Bart Simpson in his bedroom in that meme. And Homer is the whole community asking you about it.

    Best wishes <3

Just found out about the upgrade today. I just play in challenging mode and I like the changes so far. Your not at the top of the food chain by day 3. The multi tool is good. I never liked having to switch back and forth while mining through gravel. It also frees up space in inventory. I really like the compost. Even if it is just one shot and you have to dig it up and replant you can grow rye using dead wolves. Makes the bread kinda taste like revenge 😁. I did notice that you can’t dig through animals anymore. That seems more like a correction than a bug. Been playing about two years. Galaxy tab A. Android 8.1

I’m really glad to see that this game is still being updated, and I like the simplification for tools. New animals are also always fun and it’s nice to not be overrun by cats anymore. However, I have to say that I really dislike the new terrain generator. It’s very cool to look at, but it’s a horrible pain to move around in, especially now that you can only place blocks while jumping in the easiest mode. That in itself isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as some people may enjoy the more rugged terrain and the added challenge of navigating it, but it would nice to have an option between the two instead of either completely flat or sheer mountains, or at least the option to toggle the jumping block while in Challenging mode.
