Hi Everyone. One of the members of the community has been busy working on a world editor for Survivalcraft. It’s called SCEditor and there’s a beta version available for download here: https://drsmcraft.github.io/SCEditor/
I haven’t had much time to test it myself, but it seems to be functional and looks like it has full editing capabilities, down to the smallest details like block data values or obscure world options. Kudos to the creator. It even allows you to load worlds directly from Survivalcraft data folder. It’s still a beta though, so things may not always work as expected. Give it a try!
I have been temporarily sidetracked from working on the 2.3 update by a new project that came along this spring. This project is another multiplayer strategy game, using similar network protocol as Ruthless Conquest does, but more complex and advanced in every way. I want to get it finished before I get back to Survivalcraft. That hopefully shouldn’t take too long. So far I spent about a month doing base tech and another month on the game itself. It seems that the Coronavirus lockdown is very conductive to hard work :-)

Did you try to break/place blocks aroound the player in the game? SCEditor can only show modified chunks ie. chunks with broken/placed blocks.

The author forgot to set thread locale, so it’s failing when parsing floating point numbers with a decimal dot on certain non-english systems, which use a comma.

Has anyone explored the Survivalcraft ocean? There are long skinny islands there.
In previous versions 1 goal of surviving on mainland was to be strong enough to build a boat and go in the direction of the ship that drops you off on the beach, in the beginning. Mining on offshore islands (1 day journey in-game) would usually connect with cave systems and more exposed ores and diamonds.
Now the game is a little different… don’t know if there will always be islands to visit. But if you DO attempt, bring ample food and clothing or crafting supplies. I was building small outpost houses, to survive in ice / rainy biomes, and store items that might not fit in inventory. Best to have a magnet (mainland) and compass (offshore) for navigating your return. Bring food, or seeds.
Let me know if you find certain options in setting up a new game prevent islands from generating…
I remember before that offshore islands were really small. Now those islands take half a day to get to and take two or three days of travel in survival mode in order to explore. They seem to be pretty sustainable and I once built a house and lived on an island.

Hi kaalus, well you should remove the levels because in beginning in game i found a cave and malachite i was soo happy to find that to melt this to copper to make strong armor and tools but i need to be level 2 -_- thas nots realistic thats so minecrafty and add new rare animals for example:

This game is clearly superior to any other block games imo, but It’s too lonely in there to have more than niche appeal.
I’m also aware you get a million recommendations, but hear me out.
A multiplayer mode where if you survive long enough, you can spend 5 or 10 levels to have someone join your world.
You could have 2 / many teams start on the same continent or different islands etc.
This game is amazing and still has so much potential.

Hi Kaalus! Please make the player not drown when his feet is only in the water. My character can drown although the character’s head is not actually in the water.
You said you the game is like about realism, right? So please make the swimming mechanics better! And also fix when his/her head is not in water but can drown, fix that
I don’t think I have had that exact problem but… there are some funny things hat happen if you have various things on your character or possibly in your inventory. Example: sometimes you get in water 1 block deep and can’t get back out. That’s one reason I don’t play with metal armor, much. In the stats there is a number for speed 1 or better is good. If you watch that, I believe the number gets lower when wearing armor.
What seems to work is digging at the edge blocks (1 high) and make a line away from the water. After 5 or 6 blocks, in a straight line, the water level drops to nothing and you can climb out easier.
Getting wet in a lot of areas leads to flu (or at least sneezing). Some biomes are warm enough for a quick recovery but losing speed and health, and possibly oxygen makes swimming less desirable. One more idea, watch out for aquatic plants that can really slow you down, even in a boat.

For some reason I can’t play well as I have a lot of lag, regardless of whether I have the minimum range of vision. I have lowered all the possible settings but I still have lag, more if I have to hit an animal, the fps drops from 60 to 20 or even less than 10 … I have experienced a lag of up to one frame but it has never stopped the application. It is strange since my device has enough power, I have a Xiaomi Redmi note 8 Pro (6gigas of ram and 128 of internal) But it is only in the Survivalcraft that gives me performance problems.
Interesting: all Xiaomi 8 pro has bugs with perfomance

Hi Kaalus, I have a problem. transfer.sh is basically dead at this point, but I saved all my worlds with their links. I can’t download them anymore and I’m very angry about that. I’ve been working on some worlds for over a year, but now all of that is gone! I only have those three links, and I really want my worlds back. If I somehow can take the .scworld file from the link I’d be happy. Please help me!

Seriously though, I finally got Survivalcraft on the computer and it is SO much better for multiplayer. I almost can’t stop playing it, update or no update. If Ya’ll need something to do until then, the community content is lacking in good parkour maps. And if anyone happens to still have the old map called “parkour palace” please repost it!

5. Got comfortable. Took in enough money from having all of us buy in to Survival Craft 2.
6. Kaalus is afraid of success. He’s had the best damn block game on the market for years. The moment it has multiplayer it will blow up.
7. Afraid of Microsoft. Multiplayer is the only thing that would measurably make the game a lot better at this point. If he does it, the fanbase will multiply x100 as will the attention from Microsoft.
8. He could very well be hard at work and release an update tomorrow. That’s the frustrating part about Kaalus, he doesn’t fill us in.

I’m not sure what he will read … but the most important thing I wanted to say is: this is a bug that does not disappear even after reinstallation. The problem is that the water does not pour onto the surface in a normal way, but in the form of a diamond, that is, the x-axis moves faster than the y-axis. And if there is a cliff within several blocks, it will certainly flow towards the cliff in a regular even beam three blocks wide and will continue to flow without sprouting until there is a flat surface in front … this greatly interferes with my research. hope kaalus you read this

It is sad that Kaalus made version 2. I told him to make a new version, so that the income would inspire him to further develop, especially for multiplayer. So many then bought the game again, hoping for multiplayer, which never came. Sorry to say, but he cheated us in that. He did not even communicate with us, instead just created other games.
Maybe it is true that he is dead though. That is all that kind off makes sense.
I supported him throughout the whole game, but no longer. I know I sound a bit rude, but I do think he owes us an apology at least.

One year of Kaalus’s vanishing
I’ll confess: in beginning I only played SC because MC didn’t get in my cellphone. But I loved it (and SC still have a place in my heart), but I already had said about 2 years that SC doesn’t have a main objective (such as MC that you have a main boss, side bosses). Now I’m playing MC and I’m very addicted and I’m almost killing the Ender Dragon, and for me, SC is a little bit boring, I already did everything that I want in SC. And is a little sad that SC made first horses, life in water than MC, it had so much potential to tie with MC, but seems that SC isn’t something that Kaalus want to dedicate in his life (and this isn’t bad, each one knows what is better for own life), but if this isn’t true, Kaalus should appear more to show some consideration with his fanbase

I already had said and I’ll say again: SC had/has so many potential do tie with MC but…I understand that Kaalus may working in updates, taking care his family, but seems he don’t cares about his fans here. Taking the opportunity: SC still has something that no other sandbox inspired in MC has so well: the furniture system. It’s still amazing, creative and useful. But if MC or other game add too, I think that SC will sink in forgetfullness (obviously, except by the stupids one like me and you that always come here waiting by a update)
I’ve always found some aspects of SC more enjoyable than MC. It really could have become a great game if given the chance. I don’t think we’ll ever get that chance.
Again: the problem isn’t the lack of update, I admire Kaalus for program a game by himself (a game that in its golden times, ties with the giant MC(I play since November 2013)), this must be very hard. I’m suffering to program a Rubiks cube in my cellphone, I can’t imagine how hard is program a sandbox game. The problem is the lack of interaction by Kaalus with his fanbase. It’s always like this.

There’s definitely a few dedicated fans here! I’m hoping that Kaalus is working on a new engine where he’s adding seasons. One where where is snows every depending on the in game year and leaves fall off the trees.

Yeah, for sure! In meanwhile I’ve addicted in MC but I’ll never abandon SC, but we that almost all days are here, may not waste time writing “first” or “Kaalus, you’re alive” when he come back. We should write some truths for him to stop vanishing like this

Here’s a fun idea for people still enjoying the game. I changed up my approach and started going for minimal buildings. I think of that as “phone booth” survival. You need a bit of stone to put up a roof (i.e. 3×3), furnace (if you have coal), crafting table, the walls can be anything (except maybe cactus) add a door – I usually make glass blocks from the sand to make windows. You can make the smallest building possible while figuring out the best climate /locations for farming, getting pumpkins / seeds, collecting what you can from cemeteries, etc.
I really recommend it while starting out in a new map and getting your experience and supplies built up. Ultimately, I make a series of these so I can fan out, explore nearby areas, caves, mountain tops, but not build anything too large, until level 5 or better.
*I’m still annoyed you can’t make a bucket on day 1, but I understand why Kaalus did level-based crafting.
