More Birds

You’ve noticed it right away. Flat blocks in 2.3 are rendered in extruded 3D style instead of flat. This only happens while the block is held in hand – pickables and projectiles in the world still display as billboarded particles. It looks better that way, I experimented with it. The code to extrude textures into 3D models was written by my son Mikołaj.

Some more new stuff: 2.3 will include two new bird species. A sparrow and a pigeon. I have long thought that it is too easy to feed yourself hunting birds or eating their eggs. To make it more difficult, these two new bird species are not edible, and they are quite common, competing with the edible species. They still lay eggs, but their eggs are small (pigeon) and tiny (sparrow), and do not provide as much nutritional value as duck, raven or seagull eggs.

As a result, survival is harder. But you get the new default Survival mode instead. I think I told you about it already in one of the previous posts?

Sparrow is so tiny it can easily be killed with a rock, you don’t even need a spear. But why would you do that, it’s so cute!

All bird models have been updated to make them slightly more detailed and smoother to better match other animals:

I am almost ready to release, just a few more things.

I love that we’ve been able to spot everything so far. We were unsure if stuff like the duck /seagull/raven models were changed due to distance. Glad to finally see them all close up! I was a little curious what items like seeds would look like in-hand with this new rendering.

Optimize the game please because those who have Android 8 or later have a lag and most of the time it’s because of the wolves! The creatures gather at night and the lag begins. It also takes advantage of and takes advantage of the potential of many of the functions that Survivalcraft has, such as furniture, that it has a future if you do something similar to how I take out Mini World potential with the furniture. Update the interface bro it’s hard to differentiate each thing without a picture or description of the world or file that I’m going to download in the community there is also no search engine so it’s hard to find one thing among many! Please accept the mods as there are no commands to bring new fun to the community by bringing a new gaming experience with each new mod or shader applied.

I assume the game generates a 3d mesh of the item when you open the world? If so, what is the effect on loading times, especially with larger texture packs?

I quite interested in how this works.

They look super, I love seeing more life in the air, if you can make some way for them to interact with each other or for there to be some hunting bird it would be even cooler, or for them to have nests where they can lay their eggs, wow

Can you leave all the items that currently have a 3D model (Tools, Snowball, brick etc), and leave them with 2D models, that adapt to this new dynamic as well as the grass and the flowers? For a while now I’d like to change their “appearance” with some texture pack but it’s impossible :/

It would seem to me, but when the character bends down, he should walk a little slower than normal, it should also be used to walk between the plants and that the animals do not see you

    Haha thanks

Maybe no edible ravens or seagulls? That would be very hardcore, but realistic I think. You could add turkeys or capercallies (or even better, grouses) which would be easy to hunt and fill the nutrition void from ravens and seagulls being inedible. Just some thoughts.

Thanks for updating the bird graphics. It has been requested for a very long time.

Please do one more thing. There are zero birds on islands away from mainland. Please fix that.

If you spawn birds, they all eventually migrate back to mainland.

You have said that you are completely reworking the file system so that files are smaller. This will of course make worlds not backwards compatible. It would be great if you could make a utility to recreate the world to the old standard. I will need it for editing the word via another app.

Kaalus, I think you should make pigeons drop raw bird or atleast have a 50% chance to drop it. Pigeons are edible according to many sources and they taste like duck but more oily.

I also think that geese based of the wild Canada geese would be a great addition to the game, they primarily live by big sources of freshwater and lay geese eggs which are slightly more nutritious than small bird eggs but not as nutritious as land bird eggs. They are unpredictable, so they can attack you randomly before stopping at random times as well.

Seems like nice changes! But I think it’s a bit strange for raven to be edible and pigeon inedible. It’s not that long ago that chicken, pigeon and goose were the most eaten birds in Europe.

Interesting point, since eating birds of prey is very unhealthy. One of the reasons it is listed in the Bible as dirty meat.

1- Are birds easy to kill? I wouldn’t say that.
2- Haha. The crow is edible, the dove is not. Maybe vice versa?

It would be good if a bird’s nest was implemented, that a maximum of 3 eggs are found inside it, and that the birds lay eggs both in the nest and outside the nest.

I hope the eggs of sparrows and pigeons can be eaten. Even if they don’t produce raw bird, their eggs should only provide a little nutrients like sea urchins. It’s more appropriate and much better than no nutritional value at all.

Kaalus, can piranha become an edible fish species? Even if the probability of falling fish is very low. Piranha is an excellent ingredient in South America. Compared with birds that don’t produce any food, can you give players a little convenience on piranhas? In addition, I hope to see the fishing system. The current weapons are not suitable for catching fish.

hi creators i noticed that since in 2.3 character is able to go into 1-block height space , and are not displaced to a nearby available space when crushed , it renders all trap gate/furniture switch powered elevators/subways ineffective as players are no longer able to be pushed forward. Is there any possible solution to that?
