Since finishing 2.0 release on all platforms I have been working on the next update, 2.1.
As usual, I don’t want to tell you too much at this point in case I later cannot deliver on what I promised. I usually only announce stuff once it’s done and at least partially tested. Hate over-promising and under-delivering.
What I can say is that I am working on new survival features. A few recent updates focused mostly on creative, it’s time to reverse the trend!

I smell or think theres deception here, at a glance I thought it was a flower, but after removing the outer shape, it looks like a camo hat in the sand or something growing in the sad, thats my guess
I kindof want that to be a camouflaged hide for hunting complete with hunting scents for attracting prey

I’ve actually made my own maps with colored blocks, but they have to be very big to be detailed.
The different colored patches look kind of like how the temperature effects the plants, and the outer shape is a kind of canvas or old/crude paper color.
There is also an irregular shape to the “camo” part, which is kind of ovalish, like it recorded what he could see and then he moved a bit in one direction.
But I can’t explain the brown. Unless its another new feature that there is grassless areas.
So its actually very likely that it isn’t a map. We don’t have enough information yet to make a definitive statement as to what it is

– when the character be attack by animal, he’ll bleed. To stop bleeding, we have to make medicine
– using medicine will increase healpoint recover speed. Not give us healpoint immediately
– different medical plants in differrent biome

This is a three piece door. You’ll need blocks behind etc to build all the pieces, but it works 100%. It is now part of Table Etc + more col
The more colours texture pack or Johan Real HD will work best with it.

I usually build the door from the top down. I put blocks in the doorway and then place the first two pieces. Then I break the two below and do the same. Etc.
Have a look at my doors. I have built a four piece for a well, but there is a bug that if you use more than three different pieces, the door does not work. If you use the pieces to build a four piece door, it works.
I hope Kaalus will fix this.

When you build a four block high door, there is a bug. If you click on the door, it won’t open or close. It does look like it creates an invisible block though. If I have another door one block away next to it and put a switch in between, the door works fine with the button, but if you remove that door, the switch no longer works or the door. If you put a block next to the door and break it, the door opens as well. If you break one of the 8 panes of the door, the door also works. A three block high door works without a problem.
Please fix it. I have not checked it on Android.
This only happens if I use four different dour types. If I use three types (the two middle pieces the same), the door works fine.
One more thing, if I but a button next to this door and break it, the door opens. When I want to repeat this the door never opens from that block again. If I now choose another block to put the switch on and break it, the door opens or closes again and the same is true if I want to repeat it. It is like the blocks get marked.
One more bug. Once you have loaded a furniture pack and then even if you delete it, you cannot add the same modified pack that is modified. So if a furniture pack is updated and re-downloaded, it will only work in a completely new world where it has never been used before. It is lost to a world it was used on before. Am I missing something?

What is the slide “tapping Distance 5 – 25 pix” for? I though it had to do with building distance, but pix stands for pixels. Does this have to do with accuracy on touch screens?
1. The building distance has not improved at all. You can still only reach 8 blocks away in creative. I wish this will someday improve.
2. Something that would be great for mouse users, would be to make the right button repeat after a short delay. With this you can fill a place with blocks quickly without clicking and clicking and clicking. Faster building speed would also be nice.
3. When can we expect increase capabilities of texture resolution. It would be great if we could get 128×128 or even 256×256 textures. Windows Computers and even new cellphones can easily handle this, as well as further viewing distance.

Kaalus, I’m really happy that 2.1 will be a survival update, so I guess it’s a great time for you to consider some of my suggestions. There are some things that I really want to be added to the game since 1.26:
Saddle bags: Probably the thing I want the most right now, I always wanted to make a “World exploration” world, in wich I will travel the world with my horse/camel and would camp during the night, however, this proves to be hard with limited inventory, since long-term homeless exploration needs clothing, food, resources and tools, and it’s nearly impossible to carry all these by yourself, so adding the possibilty for mounts to carry items will make long travels possible and more viable.
Tents: Alongside with Saddle bags, tents or some kind of craftable shelter will also be nescessary, they would provide protection from mobs, would provide insulation, and would make it possible for you to sleep inside them. Kaalus could also add diferrent kinds of tents, such as tents made from leaves, canvas and leather, wich would have different perks:
Leaves: Easy to craft, but provide weak insulation and can be easily destroyed.
Canvas: Good insulation and slightly better protection
Leather: Medium insulation, but the smell will scare predators away.
Cooking on campfires: This is not only realistic and fun, but also very simple to add, Campfires should allow players to cook food on a slower rate. With the other additions above, this will make a nice camping mix.
Bigger/More complex boats: I always liked to make sea adventure using a boat, however, with the new proper water transparency and cold, they are much harder to be done, so adding bigger boats that are more resilient to damage and have a small place for you to sleep and add 2-3 blocks such as a chest, crafting table or wicker lamp would be nice.
Fire pits: A more permanent and durable campfire with stones surrounding it, will last longer and provide more heat.
Please Kaalus, consider adding at least one of the things listed above, they are simple and will make gameplay more dynamic :)

The joke was funny but I do think that it is getting a little old now.
People always give their ideas and Kaalus listen to what people suggest.
We asked for the following and he implemented it:
rotating logs
stair corners
more animals
faster flying
dispensers
pistons
and these are only a few. So please let us just indulge people. Maybe some of the ideas are bogus, but others are actually quite nice and not even difficult to implement. So let us tolerate each other a bit. Some are very young and the ideas might sound very childish, well it should if it comes from a child. There are even quite a few older people playing this game and we need to respect each other.
It just amazing to me that we went from trying to figure out what a random ink blot was to making demands again…

I like your idea of the boat. Maybe this boat must not be made on a crafting table, since it would be ridiculous to carry. If you could maybe build it with five boats you put together or something like that. Personally I think fish should not attack it except for killer whales but only if you attack them, even at night.
Cooking campfires makes sense and fire pits.
I am not so worried about tents, because you can dig into the soil to sleep, but it does make sense none the less. It should give better insulation than digging a hole though.
How about a ship to make there is a ship in the beginning what’s the point of the ship when it just leaves and says we won’t be back for you! It would be good to make a ship also rideable reindeers
Johan steyn sling shots would be good as a simple weapon and blow darts that some tribes use
But the accuracy and power of the sling shot is quite powerful than throwing a stone chunk because the force of a sling shot is fast I have a crafting Idea of sling shot u need a sticks,strings and stone chunk form the sticks in a Y-shape and put some string above the empty space of the letter Y-shaped \—/

Johan Steyn, I have to admit that saddle bags and fire pits + cooking on campfires are the best things to be added. I know that the physichs behind a bigger boat are massive and hard to program, also, as you said, tents are not so nescessary, I just wanted them to be added to make a camping combo with the campfire and saddle bags. In a nutshell, I think kaalus wont be bothering adding tents and bigger boats right know, but maybe the saddle bags and fire pits + cooking will be a possibility (and a better option).

Yes the almost sand like texture surrounding the “ball” really adds a good focus point. The round object does have some points on it but it is the green and brown coloring does make for “Interesting….” contrast.

well if a map only showed the surface in a 100×100 block area and it cost 9 leather to make it would still be useful because we could see what the land looked like before it was developed, and the maps would be useful still because you could have several of them to map out an “empire”, and they wouldn’t cost much.

My first thought was – bear poop. I.e., an easier-to-get fertilizer. It’s been requested by many survival mode players, for a long time, now.

How about a bail of hay made from grass so I can feed the animals and make them happy. Would like to be able to raise cattle/Buffalo/moose etc.. Need a way to figure out how they can replicate with bull and cow. Maybe add calf.
Kaalus, why is the 5th image shown on SurvivalCraft2 app page, in the iOS store, showing a floating island? I think that is not yet part of the game. Unless floating Islands are something that will be available in the future. ?
Are you working on adding that into the settings menu so survival players can locate them, mine / explore for resources, and build ladders or stairs up into the air to reach new lands?
Travis dent might be a seed world
The only seed that I know of that does something interesting is “Noah” which puts you on a cliff top… because there is no beach there. Also seems some spawn you in the ocean with a boat at the start (don’t know which seed does that). I have seen anomalous floating islands – usually small in size – never with water on them. I would guess that is a level created by a user manually placing sand and water blocks.
I would enjoy more variety in spawn points – i.e. spawning in to points like caverns – as long as you are not too far underground. Or spawn on a small offshore island (without messing with sea-level).
I would like to see new food options that can be gathered and consumed without needing to hunt. I wish Kaalus had included some option for natural renewal of items like pumpkins, trees that would regrow after a fire, cotton seed re-growing, etc. Would be good if you could transfer bird eggs (Kassowary /Ostrich) into a fenced area to raise a flock for food generation. Maybe birds nests would be a good idea – they could nest there and lay eggs, making it easier to find and collect food.
And kaalus should more food like fruits and vegetables like an orange,coconut(Palm tree),bamboo,grape,mango,banana,squash,garlic,potato,tomato,cabbage,corn,and lettuce:)
I think I figured it out… what has a rough, circular shape, with a dark interior, that would belong in nature? Yes, it’s a bird’s nest. The rough geometry edges s because it’s made if grass and twigs. The “dome” in the center is actually a depression, where the egg will hide to keep warm/ cool and bird may sit on top. That’s what it is.
Then why did Kaalus use the torch’s texture in it? The yellow is the torch’s light texture from the default texture pack.
Johan you have been active on the site forever and you definitely have my respect, especially when it comes to creating cool HD textures, and your interesting and unique work on furniture / doors (above).
I can’t imagine that the image Kaalus shared above is a new source of light. Maybe he’s reusing textures / colors that are already in use in the ‘palette’ elsewhere in the game. What is your guess?
I don’t think it’s a turtle, or an egg, it looks like a 2D representation of a 3D object – at least the part in the middle.) How does a texture for a torch (for example) wrap around the 3D mesh to give the look of a real physical object… in SurvivalCraft (1 or 2)?
You are right, he can use the torch texture for anything he wants, but I do not think anybody is close to what he’s doing. I have to admit, neither do I know. I think we do not have enough information yet.
To wrap around a texture is not that difficult. Have a look the texture for a gunpowder barrel. The sides and top is all in one texture block. You can also look at the fireworks texture, it wraps around and so does the eggs, tools like axe and furniture items.
Thus is going to be a big update.

Turns out it had to do with changing how islands look and generate in Survivalcraft2 for testing the awesome new split screen feature. (Nobody actually guessed it.)
For those asking for multiplayer, you’re half-right. And Justin Blocker gets credit for mentioning “island survival.” My guess was close except we’re looking at real islands, not fantastic floating islands.
Now the neon colors /palette options makes a bit more sense. (Differentiating your various players?)
I am not sure though that every player will have their own palette, although I don’t think that is what you meant.
The image that looked like a broken egg still does not make sense. Maybe that was the map of the island. There is no snow area though. Any ideas? Kaalus give us some “light” on this please.
