Personally, I used blocks in front of the fence so the cows could get over, but not get out. Gates will make things so much easier:)

i had an idea for the fourth survival mechanic. Im assuming its going to be thirst. Maybe the player will start to see mirages when dehydration kicks in, or if that is too diffucult to code, maybe the player’s vision will blur and he will collapse for a few moments. I also think that it would be good to have some kind of way to check all these new mechanics. I know you dont want to clutter the screen, but maybe on the menu where you feed your character you could place message warnings. For example if you open that menu and your becoming thirsty a message saying h20 would appear in yellow for caution or red for danger. There is a game called fallout: new vegas and it has the option to play in hardcore mode ( needing to eat, sleep, and drink ) maybe you can check out this game to help give some ideas on how to implement these features into survivalcraft. There are a lot of other cool fearures in that game too that perhaps might inspire you. For example the game allows you to cook and prepare a variety of foods and this game deals with radiation so you there is a way to purify water. This could be an intresting concept for survivalcraft, since in real life one would need to purify wild water sources for fear of illness.

I have some thoughts about survival aspect of SC. In 1994 there was a game called Robinson’s Requiem – survival simulator combined with rpg. And I see that SC is slowly becoming a survival simulator too so I have some ideas taken from RR.
1. Temperature and clothing. We have thermometer so it’s already there. Why not make it have effect on player’s health? Snow biomes, being exposed to cold rain for too long, swimming in colder areas should bring flu, cold or pneumonia when player is not wearing leather clothes or fur. When sick, player would get tired faster, need more food and specific herbs. In hot biomes during hours close to noon when sun is burning if player is not wearing hat(made from leaves) he would get sun-stroke and pass out for some time, after waking up player’s hunger, thirst and stamina bar would be completely depleted so he/she would need to find food, water and shelter fast to regenerate. Diseases in general would make this game challenging and make player care for his game hero. Diseases would be curable with herbs and proper health care.
2. Separate hunger, thirst and stamina bars.
3. Bone fractures
4. Wind with effect on rain drops, snow flakes and of course player health.
Wait man, he’s still adding hunger and stamina. If we have these i think it will come later.

I don’t mind adding hunger and stamina elements, but this game’s draw for me is the exploration of a boundless world – letting me do on a tablet what Minecraft PE doesn’t.
I would really prefer making the hardcore survival elements optional.
It should be so, I agree, on harmless, that way, whoever does not want to deal with the survival aspect will not have to. I personally enjoy the survival aspect, and look forward to having it become even harder. But I understand that others do not.
I don’t want to play on “Harmless” as that makes it TOO easy – animals are non-agressive, and digging speed is increased. I just want “Challenging” to stay challenging, without becoming Robinson’s Requiem.
I play in challeging… And i start a new world in cruel every hour xD.

I had this same thought. If we’re going to be forced to sleep on long trips, the compass becomes useless for finding the way back home. We need a way to fix a point for the compass that won’t change when the player sleeps.
Maybee a block from which you could only have
a single one and where you place this block there is your spawn point.
While I never cared much for having them included, beds may solve the issue. If the spawn point is set to the last bed the player slept in, that would allow compass direction to remain “true” even if the player slept out in other places. Should the playwr have never slept in a bed, then the mechanics remain the same as they are now.

Horses can jump over a fence, at least horses, and at least on WP8. And not only when I’m riding them, but also by themselves and I’ve lost some of them that way. I had to make a double fence, cause the basic isn’t sufficient! Just so you know Kaalus. Dunno if other people saw that?

I think instead of making the gates stackable like suggested, maybe just fix the horses from being able to go over a gate without a rider. If I’m not mistaken, that’s how it was supposed to be anyways.
That being said, I think an occasional Breakout is actually a little realistic. Horses break out of fences all the time in real life too. Super annoying…but it happens.
I also think that adding a trait to the horses where you have to “saddlebreak” them first would be easy (seems like) and fun. It would be just like now where they are shy of you at first. But instead of being able to immediately saddle the horse, you would have to ride him down first. They already buck and run off when you bareback now. Leave that exactly the same. You would just have to have so many seconds of riding him wild before he would tame enough to take to the saddle. If you get bucked off before you have to chase him down and ride him some more.
also like the idea of being able to hitch him to a post when on travels. don’t know it its feasible, but it would be neat.
And the horse gets better at jumping or running every time u practice with ur horse, great idea!

I think I stead of being able to stack the gates just fix the problem of the horses being able to get over them without a rider. Although the occasional Breakout is more like real life :-D
Also I wish the horses had a saddlebreaking trait added. It would be just like now (horse bucks and throws you and runs away when not saddled) only you would have to go through that process before he would be tame enough to take a saddle. Maybe put a so many seconds limit that you have to ride to break him. (example: he has to be ridden for at least 15 seconds before he’ll take the saddle. If he bucks you off and runs away after 10 seconds the you have to chase him until he stops and ride him bucking for 5 more seconds. when he’s broken then he’ll stop bucking and stand still but you still have no control of him. you have a short time to dismount and put the saddle on him or he goes back to original state. once saddled you can ride him as normal.

To make survival more real you should let us have to chop up the animal in order to get the meat and while we’re doing that, our weapons will wear out! :D

I think instantly dying if you run into a tree on horseback is a bit harsh. I survived in cruel mode only to be killed by a tree in my own backyard. Maybe instead, the player could lose a small amount of health and fall off the horse? Thanks! :)
And I love the sound of these new survival mechanics. Can you make sure to leave a large gap in difficultly between Harmless and Challenging? I like both survival AND being creative, so I hope there’s still a game mode that’s the best of both. Excessive amounts of danger can be frustrating and stressful.

Hello Kaalus. this is my first time to comment on the comment board up here.Ive been looking at your new updates since 1.11. now it’s 1.22 you Are figuring out and haven’t decided What more to add. to me and hopefully other commenters view point,I would love to help you Do it.like other commenters, I have my own opinions, but it would kinda help out. here is a list of things I would put up on survivalcraft as Well as other commenters.
-add more biomes like jungle and animals.
-add furniture for houses,especially a bed. of course you have ground or wooden floor,but on bed you get better sleep.
-Add more weapons like bow and arrow, if lucky a gun for gunpowder, and if You agree,more projectiles like shuriken.
-add multiplayer and not hard to get servers.
-add skins for animals and the player.
-if it’s possible, Do make natural disasters like tornado or earthquake.
-add more electric equipment
-Fix bugs and errors as you go
– add the hunger and sleep switch, hopefully you put this in adventure mode too.
-I think you would like this one. The werewolves, they don’t just attack you,they give you the werewolf curse as Well.you can be faster, stronger, and jump high.
-Add people.AI villagers.
-Make birds look real like other animals
-despite of the skins, add clothing and animals for clothing resources
-add reptiles
-add armor like iron(don’t make it like minecraft)
-Add more food and ingredients for food
-add stuff for transportation(like a electric scooter or bike
-it would be funny if you add a toilet in there
-add cell windows
-add more aquatics
-one more thing if you can, add ragdoll physics in the game when you fall or die, including the animals.
I know this looks more like a Christmas list, but the enjoyment and reputation for building games especially on mobile, greater than ever. I know you Are not looking for fame, you like the fact every one that are enjoying this game.

Kaalus, can you add a device that temporarily sends an electric current to a door or trap door, then turns it off, so it would go something like this: Step on pressure plate, door opens, go in, (a few seconds later) door closes and you cant go back, this would be PERFECT for adventure maps. Hunger is fine, and stamina…well I think its a bad idea since if you run to escape from a bear or a wild boar, then get tire and meet a wolf that you couldn’t see before….i don’t need to explain what will happen. And if your spawn is a bit too far away from the place you died at, then all your items will be gone. If so this game is gonna piss a lot of people off, and wouldn’t be as cool as it is now. We’re here to CRAFT mainly! Really don’t like that stamina and sleep thing!!

When you spawn umans in creative mode you can somehow chane it so tht when they see you they will help you, give you something, attack you, run away from you, etc. Also the humans can go into chests and take items like weapons. This means that a human could get a diamond edged machete which would mean you would need armor to protect yourself from them if they attacked you.
Maybe for the fourth thing you could make it where you can carry a certain weight of items

I would ask that you place a form of checkpoint with two or three points, because of the way the game is that I’ve lost all my progress in the game because I slept away from home and do not know how to get back. With the new changes will have to sleep in several different places and will be easier to lose our “HOME”. Another thing I would like to implement are the armor, since the animals are most dangerous. With that the game is not impossible to play like you said. Congratulations for the work. Thanks for the great game.

I think you should add something that comes out only at night but In huge numbers. The reason I say this is because I went on the free version of minecraft and it was really fun because every night you had to go inside and they were loads of zombies and if you did not go inside you were sure to die. If you did add something like that it would not have to something of minecraft it could be made up. PS please add bows and arrows

1.I think, as well as all these totally awesome features you’re adding, there should be farming in the next update. You’ll be able to farm:
Cotton,
Used to make armors/clothes (see my second request), can also be used to make beds and string (see my third request)
Turnips
Used to make stew along with onion and carrot
Carrot
Same as above
Onion
Same as above
Sugar cane (rare)
Used to befriend animals (see my third request)
To grow crops you have to find some seeds first, to find these you have to chop some tall grass, you have a 40% chance of finding some random seeds in there (either cotton, turnip, onion, carrot or sugar cane). Secondly you have to make farmable land, to do this you first have to make a sickle, and tap the ground with it, it becomes arable land. Next you have to make fertilizer, this is made out of rotten vegetables (when harvested vegetables are left out in the open too long they rot) mixed with dirt, and pour it over the arable land. Finally, all you have to do is put the seeds in with some water and wait one minute.
2.clothes/armor
This can be made of the following materials (in order of strength)
1.cotton
2.leather
3.copper
4.iron
5.diamond
6.DRAGON HIDE ( XD )
3.pets
You can make an animal your pet by feeding it sugar cane, these are the tameable animals
Wolf (medium)
Turtle (easy)
Dodo (medium)
Elephant (hard)
Once you have your pet, it will stay loyal to you forever and will follow you wherever you go. It will guard you against anything that tries to get you, no matter how big; and in extreme hunger, will even sacrifice itself for you to eat.
4. Natural disasters
Earthquakes, volcano eruptions and tornadoes

Kaalus, I found a bug. When animals stand on the pressure plates, they make what ever the pressure plate is connected to do its thing. Please make it so that the Player can only make the pressure plates work. Thanks Kaalus! You’re a real champ.

I just saw what looked like a moose walking around my docks. Is that a glitch?
I think It is a glitch because there’s no mouse’s in the game.
I trapped it and it turned out to be a bull with funny looking horns.
Did it have antlers? It might have just been a horse, but if kaalus is working on moose that would be cool. Kaalus! Add farming and more edible foods too, as well as a map. Other than that, Survival craft is the best game ever, possibly better than mine craft Xbox edition because of the whole ‘limited world’ part.

Yesterday i played survival craft..
And test a few seeds..
I typed a seed and it has gigantic mountains..
And deep caves..
I was wondering around flying..
And then i saw a cave.. it looks interesting..
I go and check it out
Deep underground i saw red glowing eyes
Stared at me for 2 to 3 seconds then disappear
Ignored it and continues deep down thinking it was only a werewolf
But after a while it came back
Spawn right infront of me
It was a man..
I only saw his red glowi g eyes
And then clicked the home button

I think we have a “herobrine” in SC, i have a big mine, i destroy blocks and i reach the bed rock. In this cave i founded more than 400 diamonds… But yesterday, while i was searching for diamond, i heard steps. I thought it was a bear that respawn in my mine, i searched for him but didnt find anything! So i start to search for diamonds again. But i stoped to drop some blocks and i heard the steps again… I leave the cave and the steps was following me! When i lefted my mine i run to my lighthouse so the steps stopped.
I have heard footsteps to.
Can you make it so you can place meat on the ground and then bears and other animals in a certain radius will come to eat it. Good for traps.

noticed today that animals still jump over the fence(cows and horses)
What is happening is that your animals jump on top of each other and then over the fence.
No, actually you can jump over the fence. I tried, and I have lost several horses that way. Even when there have been no other animals in the pen.

you should add reins on the saddle so you can tie your horse to a tree or fence post

I know that’s what the wolves are for but there are not a lot of them there needs to be a real reason to go inside. Something that really makes you go inside like at night hundreds of cannibals come out or just add more werewolves

Fence gates are nice, I’d want them more if I couldn’t jump over fences. I’m fairly sure I shouldn’t be able to do that, and I’m using an HTC Evo Shift.
On a related note (bugs and what-not) the recipedia says I should need an Iron pick-axe to mine Basalt and the ores that show up there, but I can mine them successfully with a Stone pick-axe or bare-handed.

I was fortunate to have some horses come to where I built my house, so I made a saddle and caught one – all well and good. Going under a tree I was knocked off, climb back on, fine. but one of these times the horse ended up standing next to a tree, I climbed on and instantly died – I think I ended up in the leaves, that was a rapid death. Next few minutes as I took the horse around I died several more times when brushing up against a hedge.
Kaalus, I think the solution is that the horse should not be able to place you in a block that will mean your death.

Horse died.
What happened was: I rode the horse up the steps to the landing in front of my house. When I got off the horse it was displaced sideways a meter, through the fence around the landing, that put it into the air and thus fell to his death.
It was such a lovely white horse, I miss him already, [sniff]
The brown horse that was in the area has apparently done a runner – because I can’t find him.

You should add like sheep pigs and some zoo animals. Like lions elephant tigers Penguins and more you can think of. I think you should have really cool islands in the middle of the ocean with palm trees and coconuts and squirrels just for fun.

how about being able to ride dolphins and craft a saddle out of waterproof rubber and a regular saddle
It would be awesome if the lightning was an option. Kinda getting tired of having to fix my house and fence. And not to mention my only white horse, out of all of my critters I had caught, was struck by lightning.
Or maybe be able to make a stone type of gate-fence.
The ability to tame a wolf with meat and make rope to pull your horse with you where you go.
