I have finished work on the new bugfix release in the 2.3 series. It fixes the following issues:
- Framerate drops due to sound effects playback on Android devices
- “Adventure Restart” functionality not working properly with adventure worlds created in older versions of the game
- External keyboard & mouse control not working on mobile devices
The slow audio playback causing framerate drops on Android has always been there, since 1.17 release back in 2012, the first version available on Android. But, as framerate in these ancient times was jittery anyway, the drops weren’t very noticeable. It gradually started to become a problem recently, as Android devices matured, and the framerate was more likely to stay at 60fps+ all the time.
I made a tentative fix to Survivalcraft 2 full version a few days ago, and submitted it to the store as a test. Unfortunately, the sound issue did not go away, the lags are still there.
So I decided to go nuclear. I completely ditched the current audio system for Android, which used Java-based Audiotrack objects, and replaced it with OpenAL. OpenAL for Android uses native OpenSL ES backend, instead of the problematic Audiotrack. Survivalcraft also uses OpenAL on all iOS devices, so the change wasn’t too complicated or too risky.
I submitted the new build of Survivalcraft 2 Day One (version 2.3.11.3) which contains the latest fix. Please update and let me know if everything works. If it does, I will submit the full version of Survivalcraft and the remaining games as well.
Please note – currently only Survivalcraft 2 Day One has the fix. The other versions of the game still use the old audio system.

There is a bug with the boat regarding the temperature system. You can be standing ON a boat and be comfortably warm but when you actually mount the boat, you can suddenly be freezing. This makes using boats even more problematic than usual.
I can play stable 120 fps after the latest on android, super smooth.
A release of Survivalcraft and Bugs for Steam would be fantastic. Ruthless Conquest is already really good on Steam Deck and Survivalcraft would be an awesome addition to my library. Fingers crossed.
And since you mentioned OpenAL, could you enable HRTF audio? It really helps in other games with spatial awareness.
I second this. Nobody serious about PC gaming uses Windows Store.
And the audio is sometimes horrendous. Can’t tell where a sound is coming from or even how far away something is.

It shouldn’t be difficult since SurvivalCraft for Windows devices is packaged as UWP. In theory, you could install SurvivalCraft on an Xbox with developer mode enabled with low effort, although I don’t have one to test with.

In my opinion this would bring huge popularity back to Survivalcraft because Mojang is taking their time with Minecraft for Quest. Similar games on the Oculus store have nowhere near the amount of features as Survivalcraft.

I’m playing on PC (sometimes iOS) and on my laptop I’m not seeing birds anymore in a saved game (anyone else seeing that?) this a normal Continent, living, Harmless setting. I went to offshore islands, but not a bird, in sight, anywhere which is odd. (Doesn’t make sense.)
I noticed if I have the compas in my hand, it’s no longer showing North in the correct direction. I have to refer to what direction it points on the icon, in my inventory (hotbar).
On Windows PC I’m having more crashes and file size / out of memory issues than on iPad.
This would be useful, nice idea.
It would be amazing if we could create and save memory banks with an specific configuration such as furnitures. I mean, we could mimic any complex thing such as “bit shifter” and use it whenever we wanted. It would be even better if we could change its label. I mean, change that big “M” to any other text we wanted such as “Bit shifter” or “bit sum” and save it.

I’m fine with 100 days progress only on android, just 1MB. Guess your save file got bug while upload it to Dropbox. Try using an older save file or make a new world

I’ve been playing survival craft 1 and 2 for like 2 days and I already like it more than Minecraft which I’ve been Playing for like 2 years anyways I think there should be a friend system and friends can join other friends in their worlds I LOVE the split screen, but online multiplayer would a super good idea, so Kaalus please add it would make Survival craft way better. and that’s my feedback. also, I don’t own the game so if u are nice enough, please make the game free for like a week idk I Can’t pay so… :)

I found an interesting bug. I have a stable 120 fps while my finger is touching the screen, but when I release it my fps drops to 70-50 after few seconds and jumps in these values. I tried different game and device settings, but nothing changed.
And what about mouse support? I couldn’t get it to work on my device. I think my device is capable of this because it interacts without problems and any prep settings with full mouse support with terraria or with windows 95 simulator for example.
Also I found fps drops with audio playback but then i visit play market… Thank U so much! Now it is very smooth… till I release touchscreen.

Well, the life goes around…
I started to play SC about 2012 because MC didn’t works in my cellphone. The time passed by, I bought a better cellphone, started to play more MC than SC (because I had already done all things that I wanted to do in SC, like houses, traps, farms, etc) and MC, in addition I can make all this tinhgs that I had done in SC, I could beat all bosses, complete the achievements and so on.
In meanwhile, I started to work hard, I worked in different places, I got married, I started to program apps, and in beggining of this year started to study Computational Science in university. And in a subject called Logic Gates I see all things that has in eletronic stuff in SC. I played SC again to use the logical gates and the sensation was a mix of me, now, more grown that lived so much with a younger me that only want play a game based in MC but had (and I still have) a affection for this game (SC, I mean). I already said here and I’ll say again, and probabaly I’ll say often while I, this game, and this forum be here: SurvivalCraft has a enormous content and a amazing mind behind it to be better and more known game, but firstly Kaalus need to talk more with his fanbase and stop to vanishing all year like this. As a programmer now, I know how hard is to do something like this by himself, but…I don’t know…say only “hello world” to us, that is still alive and working in SC, and after, add somethings that help the lore of the game to bring the players that played SC in golden ages to play again and new fans.

Hi everybody.
I have been thinking on why Kaalus never brought multiplayer to SC, since he is capable to do it long ago. Even though Minecraft had numerous upgrades including most of what SC had, SC would have been big competition against MC. It would have put SC in another level.
The only logical explanation is that MS paid Kaalus not to develop MP and just keep on adding features here and there. If the money was enough, it would also have taken away Kaalus’ drive and incentive to further develop for SC, since all his life’s needs are fulfilled. We live in an evil world where competition is killed off by those with power and money.
Of this is the case, it would really be a sad case and the only way my theory can be proven wrong, is if SC got MP. I now doubt that this would ever happen, ever. The only way this might happen, is through the Chinese developers that had a working MP SC but for some reason also got quiet. MS wants the whole cake for themselves and will not allow one other player to compete.

I do hope though that Kaalus would prove me wrong, or there might only be a time limit on this agreement.
For now, SC had become a longer game without a future. Very very sad to see.

What Kaalus forgets is that many of us also invested in SC, building great worlds, creating texture packs, furniture and skins. Our was a great adventure, now almost all gone. If it only had MP, it corks have done without many of the other updates. But sadly that never happened.

Remember kaalus told us he is making a new project similar to Ruthless conquest, reason his attention on SC gonna be set a side for a while. Even he told us SC gonna be rest for rest for a while, 2.3 pdate came. On my own perspective, kaalus still working on for SC, remember he is indie developer. So update gonna take too long.
MP is not a big deal for me, adding NPCs is a great idea, look those NPCs on terraria they are intractable, you can make them a shelter, trade with them, fight with them and lots of benefits you can get from them. What if Mr. Igor a.k.a kaalus add to SC, it gonna be game changer. Adding potions is helpful too. Ingame events such as blood moon, storms, quakes etc. It gonna be fun and challenging. I hope mr. Kaalus will update the ocean because it’s so ducking boring and dark. I hate the swimming animation tho.
It no longer is an issue. I see Chinese has released a MP version that works just great. I wonder why nobody has mentioned it here yet. I know they have tried to contact Kaalus for a long time, but it seems they did not manage to get a response from him. They wanted to give the code to him.
There are multiple mods available as well, like holding a torch to give light. These mods are really big. Many more animals as well. There are even industrial machines. It would be great to rather have it part of the official SC in stead of a separate community. There aim was not to create an illegal version, but it has been extremely long.
MP has been asked for from the beginning. MP is not just a nice to have, but the only way this game will survive. Somehow this never realised, but this MP works great. It changes everything. I really hope Kaalus will contact them and make it official part of the game.

he probably doesn’t get enough money from the game, or got bored of it, and he also has kids (you guys should think about that before you say he hates the game, he is sidetracked) so they could be keeping him too busy to work on the game or maybe he’s treating the game as a small “side project” which is sad but someone’s got to take care of his family

Updating the combat mechanics and movements what I’m looking for.
Survivalcraft farming is pointless because when you always farm, and get lot of foods, you will get bored. I’m hoping kaalus add at least 10 npcs where you can trade with them. Different npcs with different role like terraria.
I know kaalus is indie game, and I understand his situation, I’m also worried about the game. If I have knowledge about game dev, I will make like survivalcraft.
He would have to come up with his own original ideas, which would be pretty hard. Also, farming is not useless because its not about sitting there and watching your plants grow until you get like 40 bread. Farming is a little feature you could use to boost your food source for a little longer so you could keep going to find that wildboar you might’ve seen 2 minutes ago.
I do think Kaalus should start hiring people to work on the game with him, as working alone on an indie game is quite a task, let alone a big game. It would improve his situation by a large amount and even 1-2 more people working on the game could make more updates and come up with ideas significantly more then just Kaalus alone. Kaalus would just have to lead the group, which shouldn’t be that hard if its small. Although big companies might start to see the potential of this game and try to kill it off.
Bosses and new combat mechanics would be cool, but I do think that we have enough moves available. Wall-jumping should only be done on climbable blocks, such as ladders, if wall-jumping will get added. New combat mechanics like no “miss”, maybe a visible meter to see how much damage you will do via e.g. holding left click and letting go after you’re ready to attack, and guns auto-using resources in your inventory so they’re easier to use (or just use bullets and slots for said bullets and not simple pellets). A boss for this game would be VERY hard to come up with, since this game isn’t all fantasy and rainbows like minecraft but more realism (think modern day, except no civilization, structures, or other people, just you surviving alone on an island), and bosses dont exist in real life, so Kaalus would have to think really hard about bosses, or maybe not even bother with them.
Still hoping on trading, ocean, movement, various plants/fruits and npcs. Argghh Mr. Igor where are you??
A better feature would be cooking food over a campfire. Perfect early game way to make cooked bacon! You could also put a water bucket and a pumpkin or egg next to each other on the campfire and it would make pumpkin soup or a cooked egg. If there was a way to auto fuel campfires, or make long-lasting campfires like lit coal blocks, people could make small fireplaces and cook food that way.
i do still want more plants and veggies/fruits though we dont even have apples 💀

theres a reason kaalus scrapped the stone tools in 2.2
and theres a chinese mod for multiplayer, they are developing the mod for PC, but the mobile version is finished already

The scrapping of the stone tools was actually a great idea. The multi tool works really well. Also, digging or chopping with a stick also is a lot faster than using your hand, so try that as well. It is just sad that Kaalus decided not to work with the Chinese.
By the way, they do have a mod that brings back stone tools and more, like multiplayer, holding a torch to see, world editing with immense functions (copy and paste huge sections of the map, creating cubes, spheres etc, creating mountains and deleting huge areas), back packs, chopping a tree and all wood falls, more animals like elephants, hippos and blue whales, more guns, helicopter, car, steam boat and more.

Split screen is not multilayer, it is a joke. I don’t know anybody that use it. I’ve tried numerous times on my PC and on a phone is ridiculous. How do you even call that MP?

They even tried to contact him to work together. He unfortunately did not respond as far as I know. It would be great if he could develop further though.
You see developers can do what they want, but when you sell a product there comes a certain expectation with it, especially when you bring out a second version, but then just stop doing abything. Basically furniture was added and nothing much more. People really thought that he would do MP, especially after he brought out a new game with MP. He just abandoned SC and the community with it. I’m not angry with Kaalus, just disappointed, but at last I can now play together with my boys, after waiting many many years.

Well said. It is unfortunately true. In the mean time I can at least and at last play LAN MP with my two boys, although by now they rather would play MC. It just took too long for MP to arrive, even though it was not by Kaalus. Just sad that the Apple guys cannot share the fun.
But I guess I’m then also just another commenter, even though I’ve been with SC for many many years and contributed a lot. I suppose my texture pack will also then be a dumb pack, as well as the rest.

I don’t even play anymore, or have installed.
I just check ~once a month for an update.
So disappointing!! :(
You should just follow the Chinese community. They are very active. I still hope Kaalus will come back, but I think he had given up. For that reason I now follow the Chinese.
It takes a while to get the hang of it, but you’ll get there.
They have mods which are great, but best of all online multiplayer with servers. Yes, it is only for Android and PC, but I’m not an Apple fan anyway.
You know? I’d love for Kaluus the come back, but we all have seasons, and I hope he’s happy doing whatever he’s doing. I still enjoy the game and it’s kept my interest longer than any other, so I’ve definitely got my money’s worth out of it.
I have a theory that can explain what is going on, yes it is a conspiracy. Kaalus became quiet despite the fact that he had a wonderful game. I believe that Microsoft paid him off. Just look at the Survivalcraft features that came to Minecraft. But that is not all, a huge Chinese community developed where a multiplayer was developed as well as so many mods. They had a great server on m (.) schub (.) top (/com). Just remove brackets and spaces. This server however was hacked quite a while ago and all data was lost. We live in an evil world where the big monsters in the world will kill everything without hesitation. The mp version is still available though, but all the online worlds etc was destroyed.

That was the previous break/cease/pause period.
Maybe, he wont come back in March. At the last update he got more negativ criticism than ever before.
So, i dunno. I am more sceptic than optimistic….
But, who knows? Maybe he come back earlier, or the next Christmas. And finally, we get the multiplayer feature.
We will see… (if we are still persistent)
For me, it’s kinda boring to play Survivalcraft now. He add more blocks texture especially planks, fruits, breeding, fishing and more. I play Terraria now
Yeah, for me too.
And frustrating, becouse i build a house/base, have food, have clothes, amd no more goals. And don’t forget the wolves. They kill everything around my base, including me, and spawn more and more, in the end there is more wolf than tree.
I play minecraft bedrock edition on my phone.

I think we are only 2 here, I miss those days kaalus update the game during Christmas, and we’ll so hyped. I understand being only 1 developer is hard, and I think he is cooking something, it’s a new game (as he said, bug who knows?) I hope his doing well and his family.

Please make clothing not wear out without getting attacked. Real life clothes can last for years. Also whistles wearing out is lame. Try to break a metal whistle in real life by blowing in it. Unless something was very wrong with it, I’d bet money that you wouldn’t succeed even if you tried for the rest of your life. Also metal rakes have no advantages over wood ones other than lasting longer. As such, it would make sense for diamond rakes to last forever to actually be worth crafting.
And a routine reminder to fix the obnoxious bug that editing an item in your inventory resets the stack size to one.
Another minor suggestion is to make unripe pumpkins have SOME use other than throwing them in magma and watching them sizzle away. Like maybe make them edible but “not very tasty or nutritious.” Make them “odd” snacks just like sea urchins.
Or make them (along with fully grown ones) able to compost. Because currently unripe pumpkins are even more useless than poisonous potatoes are in Minecraft.
Also letting the playerbase know that you’re not dead, more often than like once every 2 years, would be cool.

He told us, he has a project same mechanics as ruthless conquest. Maybe that’s the game he is working for now for sure, and maybe taking care to his family or job. He is busy man. But still hoping for update for SC. Take ur time kaalus don’t rush, but after this, give us a huge and Worth Waiting update❤️🫂
