Big!

Check out the new video:

I can’t wait to see what you are going to build now.

Yes, the visual glitches when placing too much furniture (or other geometry-heavy blocks) around one place is fixed. In fact there’s still a limit, but it is much less drastic: in 2.1, each chunk of 16x16x128 blocks could not exceed ~21000 triangles. In 2.2, only each 16x16x16 cubic area of the world has this limitation. It is unlikely you will hit the new limit unless you really go over the top. And you will be able to make proper skyscrapers now – spreading stuff vertically works.

In 2.1 and before, in a sense, these glitches served a purpose: they were a “soft” way of forcing you into limiting the amount of geometry, so that the phones could deal with it. That’s why I left them in for so long.

Now, with the new terrain generation in, the system is much better and we don’t need the low limit anymore.

Of course, if you go crazy and fill every single 16x16x16 area with 21000 triangles… At 256 visibility range, this equates to 344 million triangles. It would bring even the beefiest of PCs, with dual Geforce 2080’s to its knees. Plus, you would need at least 32 GB of RAM to even store all this geometry.

I was wondering if the lion/wolf spawning is fixed? It’s hard to leave base when these critters are waiting for you wanting to eat ya.

It would be nice if you make them fight each other or reduce spawn rate or something like that.

There’s many ways to deal with that. First you need to realize as long as it’s daytime they aren’t overtly hostile. You can often run around them without triggering their anger.

      1. It helps a lot to have a back exit.
      2. Don’t sleep near your entrance.
      3. Dig a 2 block deep pit near your entrance. They jump into it not realizing they can’t get out.
Many more ideas are on the wiki…

Thanks for sharing your suggestions, Ive tried # 3 before and it works, But I’ll try the other two suggestions.

I just dont like the idea of wolves and lions, sometimes bears, all working together instead of fighting each other. Its not legit. They should be territorial like rihnos, rhinos will fight just about anything. Additionally, I kill 10 wolves/lions then another 10 show up the next day.

      From SurvivalCraft Wiki:
“It has now been confirmed that by making the floor from a non-terrain material AND providing sufficient lighting, random spawns will be prevented. To make a cave floor unnatural, you simply have to paint it or lay carpeting over it all. It is still unclear if ANY amount of light will prevent spawns but does seem that way.”

Add medicinal herbs. May be replanted. A herb that heals life. Can be used with fabric to make bandages. Something to cure the flu and seasickness. Add glass bottle. Then you mix a flu herb with something else and make a flu remedy. Something that elevates stamina. An energetic one. These would be things that would add a lot to the survival mode. To balance make them hard to find and slow to grow. Sorry for my english, translated by Google translator.

This. This is everything mountains should be. These things look phenomenal! I’ll even lay off the “add a lightning removal option to worlds” thing here (even though I just said it. I guess I did say it…)! These mountains look perfect for an alpine base, and look like a real adventure to climb! I just want to blast Celeste music and climb these at night during a snowstorm! That may be a little unsafe, but I will pecking climb one of these things! Anyway, great job, I strongly approve! Minecraft’s new mountains will really have to up their game if they want to be as cool as this!

  28. Posted December 5, 2019 at 20:38 | Permalink | Reply

I was hoping for infinite cubic chunks (but I’m quite glad it’s been increased!)

So that the height limit wasn’t hard coded. And could theoretically go to some insane number.

I think I read that block story already has something like that. You could also look at a Minecraft mod “cubic chunks” that does it as well.

Hmmm since it’d just be storing information about the chunk and it’s contents, would stuff like editing terrain while traveling result in a smaller world size? Considering it compared to saving the full 16 x 16 x 256 chunk?

With it you could set the altitude limit in setting

As well as a bedrock level/have deeper worlds. And it’d just save what was explored

I know I’m just assuming stuff. Hope you give it a thought!

It would be cool to see even more plants, trees and other environmental things added to the world to make it feel more alive. SC has quite a few animals but the world still seems kinda static. However adding more environmental things like plants or maybe even screen effects would be cool. The hunt for specific plants would be harder (cotton, rye and pumpkins). It would be cool to have more trees to more accurately relay the biome also, and screen effects such as lightning bugs flying if it’s dark and the area is bright enough. More birds could also be pleasant.

Just something to make exploring in Challenging a little more fun/relaxing, even if at night itll all be trying to kill you.

As it is, the game is generally too easy. I suspect Kallus will make things harder. If want it easier, ask for more difficulty modes, maybe one where it is like challenging, but with less carnivores. You could ask for harmless, intermediate and challenging. Then there could also be a furious mode as well where all carnivores attack you on sight. Now wolves are friendly during the day. Lions have also become less dangerous than long ago.

        • Posted December 6, 2019 at 19:14 | Permalink

Like the furious mode idea. Its pretty good. However, who plays survival on harmless, might as well play creative xD jk

Not asking to make it easier, im asking for the AI to fight each other and fix spawn rates. I keep killing 10 wolves per night. Seems that they breed like rabbits.

Please don’t say it. xcwaldmannx attacked me for even mentioning it. Apparently Kaalus has completely addressed it with split screen mp. So now it you dare to mention it, your are apparently relentless.

This has been the most requested feature of all time and even Kaalus has said that.

In the beginning I thought he just did not hear us, but it seems it is rather difficult for him. But I think it is a real possibility that he might do it this time around.

The secret is Steam. I actually did not know this, but Steam is truly multi platform and it will provide the multiplayer servers as well. That is why Kallus moved the other game to Steam as a trial. SC will also be moved to Steam. This might make a few guys angry, because I do not know how the accounts will work for games that is already bought. I suspect that Kaalus will update all the other platforms, but without mp. To get mp, you’ll need to buy the game again. I might be wrong. He might give us half price codes or something like that.

Kaalus please just make that if your device if not connected to the Internet that you can still play LAN. With MC it is no longer possible I’ve heard. This sucks for a lot of people around the world.
