2.1.9 released to Google Play

Here comes another release in the 2.1 series. It contains a fairly beefy set of fixes and tweaks I’ve been working on in the last two weeks.

As you will doubtlessly be happy to notice, I made the game a little bit easier by nerfing flu and reducing injuries taken from hunger, cold and heat.

There’s also a large number of optimizations, tweaks and bugfixes to do with texture orientation, furniture, horses, UI etc.

Additionally, left and right gamepad triggers were swapped to match Minecraft gamepad controls.

Here’s the full list of changes:

  • Added xxhdpi android icons to make icon sharper on hi-dpi devices
  • Fixed a bug with dialogs not preventing user from clicking elsewhere
  • Reversed left/right trigger functions
  • Fixed freshening of pumpkins by placing them on hard surface
  • Increased time to get flu
  • Coughing does not close inventory
  • Reduced injuries caused by hunger, cold and heat
  • Fixed texture orientation on stairs and slabs
  • Fixed texture orientation on furniture
  • Optimized away furniture/stairs/slabs/fences/ladders/trapdoors/pressure plates faces touching non-transparent blocks
  • Fixed texture orientation on upside down stairs
  • Optimized furniture drawing by removing faces obscured by nearby blocks. This should also reduce z-buffer artifacts.
  • Fixed problem with importing large furniture sets (only part of the set would be imported)
  • Optimized furniture collision box creation, 4x speedup (this was causing long hiccups when walking in furniture-packed worlds)
  • Added “World Created In Version” information in game menu dialog
  • Furniture is instantly deleted (if not used in the world) after deleting a furniture set instead of waiting for the next furniture garbage collection to kick in
  • Saddled animals no longer herd (this was causing horses running back to the herd once player dismounted)
  • Made pressure plates cover entire block. This allows drawing optimization (geometry below pressure plate is removed) and reduces z-buffer artifacts when moving far away from pressure plates

This latest build is currently only released to Google Play. Because this build makes a lot of changes, I want to let you test it for a few days before publishing to Amazon, Windows and iOS.

Have fun!

Appreciated bug fix… (especially the one releated with furnitures)

But IIRC there are still a couple of issues that needs to be resolved…

Hey Kaalus, i just noticed a “bug” today: I can’t use sneak mode on stone labs( wooden labs, etc) Sometimes i stayed on the lab, but sometime i fell when standing on labs which are 1/2 “block” higher than other cubes( hope you understand my words). I have known this bug long ago but today it almost killed me two times in my survival world( i reach lvl 16 btw :-) ), and i found it very annoying. I will very happy if you fix it :-)

Getting polished more and more. Maybe this is something all the doom sayers should take note of. Kaalus does listen to what we say. So don’t be so quick to dismiss what you see in an update. Just a little bit of patience would be great.

This game is in fact not just produced by Kaalus, but by all of us here. Enjoy!

Wish you would have had a look at fixing the stairs placement bug, and done something to make adventure maps viable again. Spawner eggs should not rot and how do we feed the character if all the food ‘rewards’ are rotten???

I think it would be nice if instead of having one toggle button for “Adventure Survival Mechanics” it could pull up a menu where we could toggle specific survival mechanics. e.g. having a checkbox for each survival mechanic, like food rot, hunger, temperature, sickness, etc.
I think that would be nice beyond the food rot issue, because sometimes the person building an adventure map might want, for example, the hunger mechanic but not temperature, or vice versa.

Yes, now that would truly make adventure maps very exciting and even more intricate again.
Don’t know if you’ve this idea before but, if we had an electric block that reads the player stats, we could set up specific quests and actually verify they were done.
I’ve been very excited building adventure maps but this latest change really put out that fire!

This is a great idea. I’m definitely for it. I also think some kind of block that puts out a signal based on what kind of block/item is placed in/on it would be nice.

I’m pleased you’ve nerfed the flu, it was very debilitating.
Please put in a way to preserve food – like salting for me. I quite liked the bug that refreshed pumpkins – it extended the shelf life. Raw pumpkin actually has a very long shelf life, I have seen them kept for a year on open racks that let the wind through with a roof to keep the rain off so it is dry.

I think what would be cool is if water was recognized as fresh or salt (if its not already) and should appear in buckets as freshwater or saltwater. Boiling saltwater could produce sea salt for food recipes such as salted (preserved) meat.

Yes, thank you for toning down the flu onset! It often came on inunder a minute – hardly time to find/make/get to a proper heated shelter.

And an idea for extending food use would be an ice box. Nothing complicated. Similar to an oven with limited storage slots (4?) and one slot for either an ice block or a bunch of snow. The coolant is very slowly used up but any food stored would not rot. Perhaps we’d have to refill it once a month. This wouldn’t make it too easy as we’d have to gather snow or ice from (obviously) a frozen land…
This would introduce a new pickable (ice block) and you would probably have to disallow storage of ice anywhere other than the cooler.

Can you fix the problem of death by impact when you go horseback riding?

It’s meant to be that way. You wouldn’t jump your horse under low hanging trees in reality so don’t do it in the game, either. It’s called “smashing your head open on a branch”.

Because even cooking still rots to early, I think we could find some way to preserve or just let me know what other ways to help rot problems guys

    Bug report:
A bug that still exist till 2.1:

    – Instant death if you mount on a horse in two block space and also as said by jordyjosueascurijaga, so many instant death issues from riding horses like jumping under tree or blocks.

Please fix as many player could die in cruel and lose all precious progress.

      The wall say’s mount.
I mounted and I dieded cuz of impact.
my horse is behind that wall bdw.

Yeah, happened to me once when I was out of my horses fence and while I was outside and the horse inside the fence, the mount button appeared and I pressed it and I died. The death message says “cause of death: impact to the ground”

You wouldn’t try to mount a horse if there’s no room above him, so you just need to be more aware of your surroundings.

      • Posted July 21, 2017 at 18:50 | Permalink | Reply

Then you shouldn’t die instantly, that’s so stupid, that’s why we hate this bug. Then why does the game like show a message saying, there’s no space to ride this.

It doesn’t warn you that you are trying to jump off a mountain, either. But, I agree – if there isn’t room, it shouldn’t let you get on in the first place. The mount icon shouldn’t even show up.

        • Posted July 22, 2017 at 09:44 | Permalink

Exactly what I meant, the icon shouldn’t even be there

Kaalus, I think you should add a Rock Crusher block for next version. It would run on coal like the furnace. For example, when you mine Iron Ore, you’ll get the block. If you smelt Iron ore, it will output one Iron Ingot. However, if you put the Ore into the Rock Crusher, it will give you two iron chunks, which you smelt to get two ingots. Similar behavior should be added to other ore blocks such as germanium and malachite. It will add a sense of progression from the standard furnace. Another functionality of a Rock Crusher is crushing cobblestone into gravel and gravel into sand. I think it is a good, practical feature. Please add it into the next update.

Wow, admiration to Kaalus has been a trend these days! Good! Yeah, Survivalcraft is becoming better and better and as a matter of fact, it was the top grossing most downloaded apps in many marketplaces since it’s first year! Can you imagine how did we enjoy SC when it was at its first releases? I mean we didn’t have a lot of stuff but it was a pretty decent sweet Survival game

    Bugreport:
There are plenty of bugs with pistons. If you place pistons as a 3×2 block and place a block (it works not with every block) all pistons won’t move.
