iOS out!

Yay! Apple approved the 2.1 update. It’s already in the store (version 2.1.50.0):

AppStoreBadge

Because the update process took so long, in the meantime I discovered some problems with the 2.1.50 build. I will be submitting the next bugfix update soon.

One of the issues in 2.1.50 is that the screenshot functionality is broken. This is due to change of policy by Apple: app developers now need to declare access to media library. Previously it wasn’t necessary, so I missed that requirement. As it stands, when Survivalcraft makes a request to save the screenshot, iOS helpfully kills it :-(

I will also be reversing gamepad triggers function (left/right), to stay compatible with Minecraft Xbox & Minecraft for Windows 10. This will come for all platforms.

Hey, Kaalus! I found 3 bugs in the Windows version (PC) of Survivalcraft. The first one occurs when you stand between a fence and a block that is above “sea level”. They are directly beside each other, (there is no space to set blocks down between them, just enough space to stand in between or to toss items in between.) When you walk BACKWARDS into the fence, you will “shoot” out the opposite side of the fence that you are facing, and lose a random amount (half to all of your life on challenging at level 3).
The second bug that I found happens when you kill a bird, and then before it drops items, stand directly over (on) it. You lose all of your life except for 1/2 heart on challenging.
The third bug happens randomly with the keyboard controls. You will just run continuously run until you press the button, (w, a, s, or d) and then the game will return to normal.

Please fix all of these bugs as soon as possible Kaalus! Also, PLEASE MAKE SURVIVALCRAFT PLAYABLE ON NINTENDO SWITCH!

Hey Kaalus, in the Windowsphone version, i still see many wolves spawn near my house. Yesterday there were 13 wolves, i killed them all. But today they spawn again (8-9 wolves).
I thought it was fixed before.

      that’s AWESOME. I’m stuck @ level 8
always need to run a number of blocks just to search for an animal to kill.
I only encounter 3 – 4 ground animals on one day search.

I know, i can easily kill them or trap them in a hole. But in the next day, some wolves respawn or somehow escape the trap. It’s very annoying me. Moreover, it makes the game harder for new players.

    Three things:

    1. Please fix a bug in which the squelching sound plays when swimming in water. Squelching sound is only supposed to play on land.

    2. I noticed a buff on arrows, bolts, and musket balls. Please do not forget to buff the projectile power of the spear. Melee power can be kept the same as it is right now.

    3. I am also looking forward to 2.2 :)

    • Posted July 11, 2017 at 11:40 | Permalink | Reply

The only arrow type who aren’t buffed are Fire Arrows :/ Now they are just a shadow of what they were in 1.24 :'(

      #MakeFireArrowsGreatAgain

More projectile power for Spears? I agree, but only a little bit, maybe only 1 or 2 more projectile power.

(since melee power now is influenced by Level, it doesn’t need a buff)

    I have a slight issue.

I added a new player to a world I’ve been working on for a long time. I then deleted the old player. When I went back to play the world and my new player spawned so far away from the town I had been creating for so long.

I don’t know how to find my builds. What would the co-ordinates of the original spawn be?

The new player spawned on a corner, while the original spawned in the middle of the coast.

I don’t know what to do. I’ve lost everything that I’d done on that world.

Kaalus I have a suggestion about the visibility range. Make it so that lower devices if they dont get the reccomend they should’t have the option. Like u have 1.5GB of ram but u want 192 block render distance they shouldnt have it. And also the last two settings should be only avilable on pc’s.

    • Posted July 13, 2017 at 05:02 | Permalink | Reply

If you are talking about the highest 2 visibility ranges, then I disagree. My iPad Pro (12.9″ 1st gen) can handle the second to last setting. It may seem like it uses all the memory, but maybe it’s really just 3 GB of RAM.

well the reason he thinks that should be the case is bcz most phon3s or tablets don’t have 4gb RAM. It true that my android tablet can run 320 blocks. But if kaalus adds bigger render distance it should be like Minecraft pe

The actual strongest block is bedrock but he could add a soft bedrock that u can mine only with a Diamond Tip Pickaxe. It will be the 2nd strongest block in the game the block cannot be destroyed by explosives but if u use a furnace it will turn into normal bedrock.

    Kaalus,
Why do you continue to ignore the long standing bugs and problems that are reported to you? Do you really not care about the more serious players of your game? Or do you think the problems are beyond your abilities?
You have introduced some features with amazing potential but when we try to use this potential we are stymied by these bugs. A few cases follow:

The stairs corner bug seems to be nothing more than a missing OF in a CASE statement. This should be a 15 minute fix, yet it has perplexed us since you added inside stairs corners.

Pistons have great potential but fall short when actually used. Two identical pistons side by side, driven by the same wire may not activate in unison. One may extend, then the next after some delay, or the second may not extend at all even when it’s verified that a logical ‘1’ is applied to both.

Also a single piston connected by the same wire but at two points on that piston often also misbehaves. It may only partially extend or not at all. These may not be a 15 minute fix but they make pistons useless in many circumstances. Why do you not care about these problems?

We do understand that the chunk complexity limit (not of furniture) may not be an easy fix, but serious builders have given up on this game because of it. Do you really not care? The people at the ‘official’ forum have been documenting and verifying bugs yet it appears that you ignore any activities there. They represent a good part of the serious players yet feel they are abandoned. Please engage your loyal user base or I fear they will abandon you.

    -Antidotes for flu and sickness
-Glass Bottles(Each bottle has a distinguishable shape)
    -A “thirst/dehydration” game mechanic
-Different weather instensities; Make it so that there doesn’t have to be lightning every time it rains, Its getting annoying having my ivy-trees get razed and the rain never even extinguishes it as fast as it should in real life…
-Local Wi-Fi Multiplayer and/or Local Multiplayer via Bluetooth
    -Fishing rods and Fishing nets
    -More pieces of chainmail armor
    -Bear traps
    -Native American Indians as NPCs
-craftable larger boats(i.e A fishing boat)
    -Living starfishes
    -Animal Breeding
-An ability to cook using a campfire
-A new item called “charcoal” since currently you can somehow make rock-solid coal out of burnt tree logs
-Animal taming(not all animals), genders, and breeding
-Different crosshairs for each ranged weapon(i.e. A stone chunk’s crosshair is not the same as a Bow’s or Crossbow’s)
    -A flintlock pistol
-More extinguishable fires(since the rain currently present in the game does nothing to open flames)
    -Horse Armor
-A slight increase in an axe’s hit ratio
-Cannons that can fire objects much further than dispensers can
-Food preservation aside from cooking(i.e. Adding salt or storing food inside a fridge)
-A blood option(i.e. Blood splatters whenever two or more mobs are fighting each other)
-Ambient Music(Different songs that expresses the present events around the player, just like the way its done in Skyrim)
-An option to choose one of the eight default outfits for your character when using a custom skin
-More food varieties(i.e. berries, bananas, etc.)
    -Ore nuggets
-Rare treasure chests that could spawn anywhere in the world
-Ability to use ivy-string to tie mobs to a “pole(a fence block)” with chains(and maybe even shackles) made out of iron nuggets to serve as a stronger counterpart of the ivy-strings
-Reworked female player sound effects(The sound that a female player makes when she is harmed makes me giggle even though I’m running out of food)
-More player animations(i.e. Crouching, going prone, bending down to catch your breath while panting or to vomit, climbing ladders, getting hit at a certain part of your character’s body)
    -Painted Drill-Through blocks
-Spears, arrows, and bolts sticking in mobs when they are shot by any of the mentioned projectiles
    -Wagons, Carriages, Minecarts, etc.
    -Alcholic beverages
    -Natural Disasters(Hurricanes, Earthquakes, Tsunamis, etc.)
-Waterfalls that would rarely have caves behind them
    -Volcanoes
    -Geysers
-Flowing Rivers(with a flowing water block in creative mode)
    -Underwater shipwrecks
    -Diving Equipment
-Ruins of former civilizations(like the Mayan ruins)
    -Currency(like Golden Doubloons or something)
    -Trading with NPCs
    -Rotting of in-game corpses
-Compost for farming to side with Saltpeter in order to fertilize plants well
-sleeping rolls(made of cotton canvas and fur) as an optional choice as something to sleep in(and provides additional insulation as you sleep in it)
    -Tents
    -Hammocks
-Anvils to repair your metal equipment on without having to make a newer version of the desired item(i.e. repairing an iron pickaxe)
-Hunger, sickness, flu, and sleep added to all animals

Again, I am not demanding that kaalus add all of these in the next update, I’m just hoping he will pick what he wants and squash the present bugs in the next update. Feel free to tell me what you think of my suggestions.

I hope kaalus adds metal boats(copper and iron boats and bigger boats made out of such materials) so that sinking wouldn’t be much of a problem.

By the way, I just remembered that you can’t place boats directly on water blocks. What if my wooden raft was sunken by an orca and I desperately wanted to get back to land?!? 😨

        • Posted July 16, 2017 at 12:39 | Permalink

Then the only solution would be to dive deep and place your boat on the land under the water, but unfortunately there is a chance for your air to get low so you are right.

    Hi!

    I found a huge bug.
But maybe my device is the cause.

    Huawei Ascend G6 4G L11
    (CPU: quadcore 1,2GHz ARM Cortex-A7 ARMv7,
    SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8926,
    GPU: Adreno 305,
    RAM: 1 GB,
    OS: Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean))

I play wit theese graphical setup:
    screenres: high; visib.range: 96;
    skyrend.mode: noclouds;
    obj.shadow: enabled;
    frameratelimit: unlimited;
in the menu, the fps counter displays: CPUMEM 128MB, GPUMEM 15MB, CPU 33%, FPS 59,8

    The bug (or not) is:
There are 16×16 blocks areas. If a tree extends to an other area, the game cut the tree.
I tried different terrain setups (sealevel, temperature, humidity, biomesize), and found this all map.
I say again, maybe my device is the cause.

Playing this game a while, I did notice that the wolves were spawning a little too much.
After a few nights in my shed, there were about 15-20 wolves in my trap hole.

Also, I could use other means to carry liquid, maybe like stone bowls or glass bottles since finding malachite chunks on the first few days really depend on how lucky you are.

This can be added more in the future, but I do agree with some users wanting ruins and villages of some sort, so to make finding it like a long-term goal of the game.

Anyway, I feel that very few will leave this incredible game despite a few bugs/inconvenience here and there, but it will be better if avoiding death is a little bit more easier.

Kaalus, hands down one of your best updates yet. However, I’ve noticed some bugs in the IOS version. For instance, my character will be running and suddenly he would randomly stop and I would have to start moving again. Also, there are times when I am chopping a tree and the action is stopped and the character randomly looks at the ground. Also, there seems to be a bit of lag. Other than that, great update.

I’ve been getting the same problem on android since 2.0. If you hold a control long enough, it first starts to ignore it. Then it might even start acting like you keep tapping it. This has been a real pain if I’m removing a lot because it will suddenly start placing blocks, instead of breaking them!

My iPhone 7 can run 320 blocks view distance! Even with only 2 GB of ram it locks in at 60 FPS. I do get a slight studder every now and then though, but maybe that’s because the phone only has a 60 Hz refresh rate.

    I found another bug.

When loading previously generated worlds, the biomes are now messed up and I have chunks that are not covered in ice in completely icy areas.

I had built an igloo on one world and now only the few chunks around it are icy while the rest seems to be a wasteland Biome.

This may need to be fixed as it could effect maps that have been created in older generated worlds.

I could post a dozen similar pictures. Unfortunately that’s the kind of stuff we have to deal with when the terrain generator changes. Try setting the base temperature up a couple notches and see if that helps smooth out the differences. He said he made the worlds a bit colder overall.

When you introduced pistons, you made a point of saying they can move bedrock. Why did you take that away?

Just worked for me on a PC. Creative worlds only have one layer of bedrock I’m assuming, so you cant move that last layer. I did it in an all bedrock map

Just rechecked it and ya, it *was* at the bottom layer. I guess he should leave that one alone even though there’s still the invisible layer under that one. It just makes the idea of building out of bedrock harder…

        • Posted July 18, 2017 at 01:37 | Permalink

I doubt he has any confirmation, but the “bug” maybe intentional. Losing all layers except outer was a way to punish you for dying before 2.1. This may have been a bug, but he might have neglected it for a reason. He may also continue to do so.

Also, for a heads up, the whole “you’re a child” argument is absolute BS. It means absolutely nothing, except it usually points out the one using the argument is a child them-self. Sorry dude, it has no credibility to it.

Kaalus, can you please make the water more clear so you can see better underwater? I be been trying to make a map and the main location of it is underwater, and you can barely see the bottom of the ocean unless your 2 blocks away from it. Also, when you look down at the water on the surface, it appears as the water is clear. Until you decide to hop in and you can’t see anything. I would also have a hard time finding the surface when I’m close to the sea ground. Thank you for anyone who read this.

Yup, deep water building is not like it is in MC. You don’t get to see to the bottom of the ocean.
Here’s a little trick that may help. If you need to get to the surface simply place a boat underneath you. It will immediately rise to the surface, bringing you along with it. Or put on wodden armor, to float up…

I was very disappointed to find that you took away the yellow wire. Why??? Much wiring is done “behind the scenes”, usually without the best lightning and it’s critical to have wires that can be differentiated by color. Now it’s nearly impossible to tell green, brown, red and original wires apart in the dark. Especially for the 20% of us who are red/green color deficient. Have a little consideration for the handicapped! Also, people use wires as decorations and now all we have are dark, dim colors. This change absolutely ruins some of my most complex electric builds.

    • Posted July 18, 2017 at 01:30 | Permalink | Reply

Did you forget you can change the colors? Yellow wire wasn’t even removed anyways. Having yellow and brown is more beneficial than just having two yellows, so he got rid of one shade, the only one I assume you knew existed. Which you can easily get back. Heck, now you can have more bright color wires than before. Seems you failed to remember what he added and just noticed what he changed. That’s forgivable, but next time, dig deeper before complaining. These comments, I’m sure, discourage Kaalus.

        Posted July 18, 2017 at 13:49 | Permalink | Reply

I failed to see no such thing. You should not assume you know what is in my head. Seems YOU fail to understand what a color palette is – you cannot change the colors of wires without changing the colors of everything else in the world. That is NOT an acceptable solution.
I stand by my statement that only having these dark colors makes it much tougher to work on complex electric builds. I suspect you have no experience with this, so you wouldn’t understand the difficulty.
I relied on using yellow to give high contrast to the diferent wires, now that’s lost. Red, green and brown all look the same in dark conditions.
My purpose here is not to coddle Kaalus’ “tender feelings” but to give him cold hard facts. He’s an adult, I’m sure he can take criticism. One of these facts is that up to 20% of males have some form of red/green color perception handicap.

        • Posted July 19, 2017 at 03:01 | Permalink

Okay, the color pallette changes everything in the world correct? (Which I do understand) And this has ruined your worlds, correct? Change the color back. It’ll be just like before the update. It’s a completely acceptable solution. All blocks and wires will go back to the “original” color. If you used the changed color blocks to decorate while not liking the color in all circumstances, that’s your fault. Sounds like you’re complaining you just want more colors, not the ones he picked are unacceptable. If you don’t like his color choice, change it. If you want to keep the new color choice and get the olds one, ask for more colors. I understand what a pallette is. When he changed the yellow to brown, all yellow blocks turned brown. Therefore, get this, changing the brown to yellow will reverse the change. Nothing’s ruined.

Also, I didn’t say you hurt Kaalus’ feelings. People complaining for no reason discourage people a lot. For example this situation.

Tip, you’re “cold hard facts” don’t mean anything if they aren’t used correctly. With the new update you can change the color pallette to make wires easier to see, which is even better for color blind people. For others, you have to judge what colors are important for decorating, and which are important for wiring. It’s not an oversight on his part. Just ask for more colors.

I must say though, complaining about me “assuming” about you then immediately assuming about me, classic. I know wiring can be hard sometimes. Use light and if it’s really tight do as said above. You can also turn your graphics brightness up.

Lastly, I’ll end with a “cold hard fact.” There are 24 named colors on the color wheel… see slightly related, not helpful.

Nope, we looked at the bright side and played this update for a month and yet more than 10 bugs weren’t fixed since more than several years like the inner clothing bug, geometrical biome borders, fake features found in the help, ignored suggestions, ignored bug reports and ignored questions.

We are tired of all this and we are willing to seek attention, generosity, more bug fixes and more features which don’t take longer than several days…

“We are looking for answers and have suggested ideas but yet we are restricted to seek more knowledge and features”

I hope we get a new generation where Kaalus will help improve what we have suggested and agreed together as a community…

Thank you for your convenience in using your time to read this important message, so let’s make Survivalcraft great again, I know, sorry if I mention a Donald Trump speech, we are only focusing on Survivalcraft right now! I love to make the game better! Who’s with me?!

I’m not experiencing many bugs right now on my PC. Hell, I’m not experiencing any(except when getting under a tree on a horse killed me, but that’s it, if that’s even a bug)! And what “fake features” are you referring to bud? And Kaalus definitely doesn’t ignore suggestions. He just made it so dispensers accept items when thrown into them, he added pistons and made them better than expected, and this whole update was based on survival, which I don’t know abut you, but I’ve been asking for it for a while.

        • Posted July 19, 2017 at 22:10 | Permalink

I don’t know if this was removed or still there but in help it used to say that digging hard blocks/wood blocks hurts the player and also in the stamina topic says that running, jumping and digging loses stamina. I think everyone noticed this and everyone may be familiar with it. I don’t know how you don’t get me but finally you now see what I mean, you get the idea after all. I’m sorry to refer negative things, as I’m not 100% with what’s actually the answer to my seeking of answers about Kaalus not fixing. I’m so sorry, my apologies, I can’t believe I said that, well thanks for letting me know I’m not quite right about this kaalus stuff, but I was just curious if others also felt the same way and most out there do but didn’t comment me back.

Spawner eggs should not rot. This has ruined adventure maps where the animals are spawned from eggs in a dispenser, after some action is performed. It also ruined our shared world where we pay to use a horse during our turn. The horse is normally spawned from eggs from a dispenser. You separated laid and spawner eggs for a reason – this that reason.
You cannot eat spawner eggs so why do they rot??? This update has ruined adventure map making for the game. Serious adventure maps are now so crippled it’s pointless to make them. We usually feed the character at certain points in the map by giving them food in a chest. Now, it’s always rotten. We usually add opponents by dropping spawner eggs from a dispenser. Now they just drop rotten eggs. We often don’t want random spawns but can’t eliminate that without also disabling any trapfalls we have (static environment). (Many of us would like to eliminate the OP destruction of lightning but not eliminate rain, as well.) The game had amazing potential for adventure maps, now that’s all thrown away. True adventure maps are more than “go here and read the next sign…”. Avoiding starvation was one challenge, now it’s impossible. Presenting opponents at specific times is critical to the challenges. Now it’s impossible. Well orchestrated adventure maps are now – impossible.
Please consider our plight and remedy this situation?

    1. No, that assumption is INcorrect. The color palette has NOT ruined my worlds (which IS what you actually said above). Not keeping the yellow wire yellow has made it much more difficult to work with complex wiring.
    2. look up the words “assume” and “suppose” – classic ignorance…
    3. brown is a very desireable color for blocks and items, yellow is very desireable for wires. Having 4 colors difficult to distinguish is NOT desireable.
    4. I’m ok with 7 colors for wires but they need to be distinguishable. You incorrectly assumed, again. I said nothing whatsoever that should have given you that wrong impression. Instead, you are ‘putting your words into my mouth’. I’ll make it clear: I am NOT asking for additiinal colors for wires, just please give us more easily distinguishable colors.
    5. The best human eye can discriminate up to more than 16 Million colors. Your “color wheel” is nothing more than a generalization and simplification of reality and many color wheels only use 6. (It usually depends on what grade you’re in). The game itself only allows 16 unique colors. So much for facts.

And, why is this any of YOUR busines, in the first place? I have a valid complaint I want to present to Kaalus. More valid than the plethora of ‘gimmes’ usually seen in this blog – (e.g., a hundred more animals, taming wild beasts, ghosts, rocket ships…) Do you have a compelling need to engage in personal attacks? And why me?

TBH, there is a partial ‘solution’ and that is to modify the palette while I build the circuits and then change it back. It just makes a complex job even more complicated. But, that is what I’ll have to do. However, that does not address the issue of people using wires as non-electrical decorations. I would be happy (re this issue) if he actually gave us a separate palette for wires

I’ve come across yet another glitch.
It appears to be a chunk loading glitch and it only seems to affect old worlds.

Certain blocks or chunks seem to not appear and you stand on air blocks. It also stretches and bends textures. Once you place a block, it will go back to normal until you break that block.

I have also seen on a map, colour parkour, that was once a super flat world, that the whole world has been turned into an ocean Biome apart from the chunks that had been edited by the player originally. It’s really fascinating, but some of the textures weren’t there or were stretched. It made the parkour quite difficult because I couldn’t see the blocks.
