Windows 8.1 issue

I’ve been hearing from you about Windows 8.1 problem that only happens when the game window is fullscreen. Apparently, some sidebars pop out and make the game unplayable. Could you please tell me more about this in the comments, and perhaps make a screen video / take some screenshots to show me the problem? At the moment I can’t reproduce anything on my side.

I played with my brother sc… its really annoying when he was in the inventory and the taskbar opened every time.
Great work! Keep Coding! one idea… Did you thought about using the controller rumble function as haptic feedback? I would really like this. An animal attacks you… controller rumbles..

Does anyone know where to find a more detailed tutorial about adding working electrics into furniture? Is that possible?

There is… go to kaalus YouTube channel “survivalcraft” you should find some information about that

The only electrics allowed inside furniture are the pushbutton or toggle switches.

Well i didn’t recognize that bug. But these are the bugs I’ve seen.
    1. Sleep is too long

    2. Food rots in adventure mode. Which makes it hard to make or play a map.

    3. Sometimes skips pages in inventory. So i can’t place or use certain items in creative.

Thats not a bug. Sleeping too long is just the way game simulate ur surounding while ur sleeping.

Food rot is new featured in survival mode to make it more realistic.

skipping pages in inventory, yah thats a bug, but its already fix now on update.

Well i don’t know but the sleeping took 15 minutes one time it’s never been that long. That’s like watching most of television show episode.

And I understand food rot in Challenging or cruel. But why adventure. Because of the food rot i cant finish most maps people create in community because i stave before i finish their game. Because the food they added in chest throughout their worlds are rotten. And it’s ruined some of my maps.

Oh.. Thats never happened to me.. My longest sleep was not that long.. Maybe just 2ms.. In your case.. Maybe its your device? I dont know.. Maybe the sc is now hogging more ram/processor etc. And ur device cant handle it now.. Speaking of.. I experienced more lagging now than before.. So i lowered my settings. It smooth now w/ little sacrifice on graphics. ๐Ÿ˜Š

And about food rot.. Me too i wish it has an on/off setting like when creating new map.. Sometimes i dont want to frustrate my self on playing so i play.. Outdated sc on my parallel app( when food rot is not present but also the new features not in there too like gamepad support) then when i feeling adventurious i play the latest sc with food rot new animals and little bit long sleep. When food rot on/off featured implemented i create 2 maps 1 with rot and 1 witout it.. So i dont need parallel app anymore and has all new element.

You can “fix” this by using cow spawners and enclosing them and giving the player a musket but it doesn’t work all the time

    • Posted July 9, 2017 at 20:49 | Permalink | Reply

      1. I think he fixed sleeping about as much as possible. It’s just the devices issue now.

      2. Food rotting in adventure isn’t a bug. Go into the world edit and turn off survival mechanics.

      3. He said he fixed that already.

The only time I ever had this happen to me was when I am in maximized mode and try to pull something out of my 6 quick bar inventorys sometimes it drags up the windows taskbar… But that’s all I ever had happen… I have heard others say it opens other Windows and stuff… Maybe that is a different bug then what I have encountered.

There was one time that went to the multitasking window where you can switch windows… But I may have pushed something wrong on the keyboard…

๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜ฎOh oops my bad just realized that the title says this bug is for 8.1 only… I have Windows 10 but I guess I’ll send this anyway because it maby could be helpful… and I already typed all this out…

Btw is the bug where the movement buttons stick on PC still happening to people? It used to happen to me when using touchscreen multiplayer and keyboard at the same time…
But now that I use controllers instead I have never had that happen.

it’s the “hover” effect of windows. it’s happened to me and my kids, all we have to do is hit the esc key, move the mouse and hit esc again and it’s good. don’t think it’s a game bug personally.

  7. Posted July 9, 2017 at 18:11 | Permalink | Reply

I’ll make a video and post it. It reacts like a taskbar in auto hide mode. When you move your mouse down, the taskbar auto appears. While you play, the mouse is not visible, but it reacts as if the cursor is there. When you move the mouse far enough in one direction up or down, the taskbar or top bar appears. When you then click at that moment, menu’s appear etc. and movement stops.

  8. Posted July 9, 2017 at 18:15 | Permalink | Reply

Please make it that we can use a keyboard and mouse on Android. The keyboard works fine, but mouse control does not. The cursor is there the whole time and movement is only possible when you click and hold. It would be a great alternative to a gamepad.

And found an error in the code of the game of sc and has to do with the pumpkins because if you place a pumpkin about to rot on a surface as in a solid material such as stone, pumpkin that was about to rot It will be updated and it will look like normal again, as if you had finished harvesting it I do not know if you understand me but I think it is a big code error that is present in sc 2.1

    • Posted July 10, 2017 at 10:01 | Permalink | Reply

This “bonus” feature will probably continue to exist. The only way Kaalus can prevent this, is to map every single pumpkin out there and remember its rotting stage. This is OK for pumpkins that you you planted from seed, but to do it for the rest is quite a big thing.

In the mean time, enjoy this as the game is fairly difficult as it is. Pumpkins should though only be able to be put on dirt.

There really does need to be more options added to world start up like disable flu and food rot.

I usually play creative mode obviously.. But decided to start a new challenging world to have a go of all the new “survival” features…

Wow just wow, how the hell do you expect kids to have any chance at all of enjoying the game now. It’s ridiculous. I couldn’t even get through cutting down one tree to get a few pieces of wood to make a mining pick before I had a flu. The sneezing and black outs stopped me from even digging one block of stone before having to start hitting the same block again.. I managed to make a small cave and place abit of wood on the ground to get rid of the ridiculously over powered flu by sleeping but then was interrupted by wolves who proceeded to kill me over and over again stuck in a little hole.

Sure I could have made clothes to stay warm and made torches to keep the animals spawns away but when I’m unable to collect more than a few pieces of wood before I was dead I really didn’t have any chance what so ever of even finding the resources I needed to make them little own mine them.

The best way to resolve this game breaker is to extend the time it takes to get hungry, cold, flu etc and stop removing player controls when you sneeze. I’m so disappointed about this I’m going to revert back to survivalcraft 1.

Oh and the new terrain generator broke all my existing worlds where I hadn’t edited the terrain between cities and the ocean colours. Good bye 5 years of building Elswyr EPIC and Evamor… They are now ruined… :'(

I was just about to release Evamor Revived.. Not anymore. Sadly there goes another 6 months of effort no one is going to see now.

I’m disappointed and sad to say the least..

Come on dude, have a little resolve. You are a creative only player and when you change to “CHALLENGING” you complain about the game being too hard. That’s like going from Skyrim to Darksouls, getting mad the first time you die, quiting, and lastly ranting on the game’s difficulty. Don’t make the game change, you change. I know this makes me sound like a prick, but it’s the truth.

As for your map, go back to a later update and just “edit” the parts you don’t want to cahnge. I don’t want terrain generation to be the same every update for everyone just because one guy has a map he likes.

      • Posted July 11, 2017 at 03:03 | Permalink | Reply

I’ve been here from the start and am entitled to my opinion.

When you say I’m a creative player only?? Do you monitor my game play for me? or just manipulate my words? I said I “mostly” play creative, as in most of the time I’ve spent playing Sc was in creative. I didn’t say that I’ve never played challenging before. So thanks for your uneducated comment.

I didn’t say anything about the game being to difficult for pro gamers, I said kids… Kids mate. You know how it’s a kids game and all… I suggest adding longer times and toggles because majority of players are kids such as my own children. If the game is supposed to be about realism then getting a flu after a few hours of not wearing pants is far from realistic..

Games such as skyrim have a difficulty settings that can go from super easy to extremely difficult, so comparing the 2 is pretty vague comparison.

I also never suggested that I didn’t want the terrain generator to change. I like the new terrain generator. It’s just that you will never understand how much effort it takes to create such a large world, block by block. I said I was “disappointed”. Take what ever you want from it mate, you obviously already did.

Just go and “edit” the terrain I don’t want to change?? Have you actually played my world’s properly or just flew passed a few buildings and quit? There is hundreds if not thousands of chunks I would need to modify.

Please think about what you’re saying before pressing post next time. Thanks.

        • Posted July 11, 2017 at 04:01 | Permalink

          1. You are entitled to your own opinion, so am I, and so is Kaalus, so why must we change for you?

          2. Playing challenging every once in a while doesn’t mean you play it an accountable amount. Glad you thought arguing about this technicality was worth it. Why argue about what mode you play if you accompany it with nothing? Sounds more like a “I’m right, your wrong” argument.

          3. Nowhere is it stated this game is for kids. In fact, Kaalus has said before that he wanted Survivalcraft to be more difficult and take more time to advance than Minecraft. Implying he wants the game to be challenging. Isn’t there a game mode with this name also? Ehh, whatever. For future knowledge, E10+ rating doesn’t mean the game is for kids. ESRB ratings are on appropriateness for certain audiences, not difficulty.

          4. I was using the popular opinion that Skyrim, even on hard, is a lot easier than Darskouls. Meaning, if you go from one to the other, you can’t expect to be good. Hence, going from “mostly” creative playing to challenging mode is hard for you. And yes, you. You claimed YOU had a hard time and couldn’t survive, don’t pretend like you were only talking about “the kids.”

          5. Actually I do. I feel a slight sorrow for you. (As much as a random person on the internet can feel for someone’s game issues I guess.) I just don’t understand your point of complaining about the terrain generator was then. You’re glad it changed, and you’re only “disappointed.” Why complain then?

          6. True, I haven’t played your map. Like I said, I was trying to give you an option to fix your map with the update. It’s either you edit the map and be happy, or you can come on here and complain more. It’s all on you.

          7. “Please think about what you’re saying before pressing post next time. Thanks.” Ending off with a passive-aggressive insult I see. I did think about what I was saying, I still back it up too. In the end, you’re the one “disappointed” and worried for the kids, but I’m happy with my situation. Seems I’m the one who thought this through.

Seriously though. You’re an adult and your sense of resolve seems to be few to none. Change things for yourself, don’t ask the world to change for you. Learn how to play better, teach your kids, fix your world (or attitude about it), and you’ll be happy again. Also, this isn’t meant to be an insult, if you’re dying a lot, you should learn to play better.

        • Posted July 11, 2017 at 09:20 | Permalink

Wow now I really need to spend all this time doing points. Ok then here we go..

1 when did I ever ask to change anything?? I will answer that for you.. NEVER. what I did was make suggestions to add features. Please like I said before. Think before you post..

2 That’s because I am right? Whats the point of a drawn out empty reply to try make yourself feel good?

3 Go tell your adult friends that you play a minecraft type game but this one’s actually for adults, I swear! LOL

4 I wasn’t pretending anything, I still don’t see how you can determine my skill level when you’ve never seen me play or have non prior knowledge other than what I’ve told you already about how well I can play the game or not. I was referring to my first experience after the update, nothing more. But yet again you think what you like and take what you want from it. You quite clearly already have..

5 why complain? Because this is the only place I have to vent. Because that’s what people do. Why pick apart what I had to say in the first place in your condescending manner? Definitely alot worse of a reason than I have to make a post. Anyone that asked why someone had to post a comment in the first place is quite clearly darft.

6 So yet again a totally uneducated and un thought out comment just to try and make yourself feel a little better. I only ever said one post and it was the only negative thing I have ever said about survivalcraft, I also offered suggestions to amend the issue I feel need to be addressed. You have complained more about what I posted originally than I did to start with, hypocrite.

7 wow because your attitude is ideal! Fckwits never cease to amaze me. I never said anything about being sorry for any kids actually. What I did was make suggestions to make the game more versatile for kaalus’s target market, which is… Wait for it… KIDS!

8 “seriously though”.. Really you were just pretend to be serious in all other 7 points you made prior? And you tell me I’m passive aggressive? Listen to yourself, hypocritical.

“My sense of resolve seems few to none”?? Seriously? Wow, so maybe just maybe go and download one of my worlds, check out my massive complex perfectly structured architecture and tell me that I have no resolve, I think that all clearly speaks for itself. I spent years building nothing but one world, all my time and effort into one massive project, and I have no resolve… You ignorant twat. Go look up the meaning of resolve.

Don’t proceed to tell me about my attitude towards adding a suggestion, look in the friggin mirror!

I’m not insulted by that actually, my gaming experience is +25 years, as I said before I was going off my first challenging mode experience since the update. But yet again take from it what you will, you already have!

Praise the sun, I think you are a bit hard on AphX. He does have a point. It would be great if there could be an option for either beginners or smaller kids. My kids are 10 and 12 and manage OK, but I can see that it could be a bit much for beginners. To imply that Kaalus only created this game for grown-ups, is a bit harsh I think. I also think that flu onset is too quick. For a more temperate climate, it is not too bad, but if somebody spawns in a very cold place with large biomes, this could be very difficult. I spawned in cool place and managed to survive, without dying once, but it was not easy in the beginning. I got flu twice only, but it was quite rough. At least the option to not die in shallow water when you have flu, should be addressed, although, when you get flu, you should know to avoid water. The best would be to dig a hole where you are, make a fire and sleep.

The problem is that if it is too difficult for nubes, they might leave the game.

AphX was frustrated and vented a bit here. I think we need not jump on people for that. I was a bit negative in the beginning about this update, but after playing for a while, it is really a good update and worth it. Let’s just have some grace with each other and maybe with Kaalus as well. When clothing came, I was a also unsure about that, but in the end, it was a great update.

As a long time CRUEL (not challenging!) player, I’ll chime in here, too. I’ve posted my issues elsewhere as well. Flu and sickness clearly come on much too quickly and are absolutely devastating in the first days. The FACT that flu comes on so quickly combined witht the FACT that he lowered the overall temperature of worlds makes it often impossible to survive more than 2 days. That lack of survival chance turns this from a game to a torture device.
I love this game for the survival challenge, hence cruel mode. I’ve played well over 200 cruel worlds. After playing 10 in 2.1 and not making it past day 2, I downgraded back to 2.0. The flu and sick are simply too OP early in the game. Not one of those worlds had a warm enough biome anywhere near the drop-off point and mostly I got flu the FIRST day and was dead by the next. You cannot even eat 1 piece of raw meat without getting sick and die by that night. Changing tactics helps some of these issues but doesn’t completely ameliorate them. The onset of flu and sick needs to be extended slightly. We need at least a day to prepare before flu (maybe just NOT have it always rain the first day???) and at least 2 raw meats before sickness.
The FACT that sneezing will now make you drown in a single block of water, combined with the FACT that flu makes it impossible to get out of that water, is simply ridiculous. Yes, we need to know to stay out of water with the flu but one sneeze will knock you off the shore into the water and the next sneeze can kill you! This isn’t cruel, it’s sadistic.

        • Posted July 13, 2017 at 00:20 | Permalink

Yeah, your right. He probably got mad and jumped on here right after to comment. I do apologize for that.

The only issue I see with making the flu time longer is it would kind of cancel out the reason he added it. Someone talked about snow biomass being no real threat because you could just run through it before you took any cold damage. I think this was Kaalus’ way of fixing that. I think he should just change the coding so you can’t spawn in cold zones. (Or at least less often)

As for the kids. I say he should add another gamemode. He should change the present challenging to survival (or whatever) and make the “new” challenging mode harder than harmless but easier than “survival” It would remove food rot, illness, and whatever other problems may exist. I don’t agree with adding sites to turn on and off certain things though as it just seems to present no challenge.

The sidebar thing happens to me in Windows 10, but usually only when I’m playing in multiplayer with the touchscreen.
Basically, I end up pulling out the notification bar and such because of where the UI is for multiplayer. It is very annoying, but I’m not sure there’s much you can do about it because it’s the windows system which allows you to pull out the bar from every app.
I think something that might help would be having a “widescreen double opposite” option in the screen layout option for two player, similar to how you have the side by side and top and bottom layouts.

Concerning the bug: I cannot record it. The Xbox recorder does not record anything happening with the taskbar, only the top bar, it is transparent to the recorder. If you are in a menu or any place where the mouse cursor is active and you move to the top, you should not be able to activate the top bar, neither the taskbar. That is how it was with the previous builds. With this build, you can move to the taskbar and activate it while you are in the inventory. This is where the problem lies.

With previous builds, if you maximized, that was it, you had to exit if you wanted to run minimized, but that is OK. Now you can, which actually should not be.
