2.1.6 going out

Another bunch of fixes:

  • Added new opposite screen layouts for 3 and 4 players (not that I think they will be useful for many people, but they’re trivial to add)
  • Fixed dispenser deleting items when firing them into a solid block
  • Tweaked chase ranges for sharks, werewolves
  • Fixed crafting seeds from pumpkins

Should be with you soon. Please update and keep testing. I want to start releasing for other platforms ASAP.

          Calm down.
          I at a venture/indirectly come here and saw there is a new post from Kaalus, and no one commented yet. So, after five years, i thought i can be the first. So i wrote “First”. But after that i wrote “Thank You”. So what is the problem?

          PS: i play SC2, but i did not notice the bugs. I’m lucky or simply careless.
          I’m happy, when a new update comes out. And I just thank Kaalus for his hard work.

      It’s exactly how it sounds… Set the dispenser facing and directly against a block and set it to shoot and the shot item from the dispenser disappears!

    Don’t forget to fix this bug: When you swim or even walk on water, squelching sounds still play. They are only supposed to play when you are on land/

      You must be new here. There were game breaking bugs. Kaalus worked 24/7 to fix them. He even feared to take back the bugged features. This were hard times.

        I am not new here, but I think wasn’t so up-to-date with what Kaalus posted and I have never counted bugfix updates on other versions. I used to install just the last bugfix.

    In the previous version, there was a problem with ‘half-blocks’ placing them in a roof configuration, if you later decided to make it a full block and tried place the full block in the same location, the half-block would actually be deleted (disappear) when the full block was added in the same position. Also had some trees that after catching on fire, the leaves would disappear, but you would have the fire animation floating in the air where the tree had been. If you’re firefighting (trying to put out a lightning strike burning your trees up) the animated fire block could not be broken (might be eliminated via rain?).

      The eternal fire has been documented on the forum. The only way I’ve found to delete it is to place a block in its place then remove it. They do seem to disappear on their own after a (long) time, however. But I’m pretty sure they also don’t catch other things on fire. It’s a strange glitch. Does seem to be caused when you get out of range of an existing fire, then return later. (Fires seem to freeze in time when you’re out of range.)

      Actually, this strange glitch is just a graphic bug. It won’t make blocks or you catch on fire and it won’t disappear with rain. But like all bugs, it must be fixed.

    Can you, like for testing, remove the werewolves for one version?
    Just to see how it plays out.
    Then you decide to leave them or keep them.

      I don’t see what would actually be the point of doing this as you can disable them if you don’t want them anyway… no need to completely remove them.

      I agree, If we have limited amounts of food in SC and people hate not being able to eat the same food and get sick, then why not be able to create meals? Or add seasonings? e.g. Salt, sugar or I don’t know up to kaalus. My idea is to at least Kaalus add one vegetable. Just one and maybe add the option to create meals using some sort of table bench. This will create more variation to people who get annoyed to the only available SC foods. Using bread with other foods will create a sandwich, using boiled water with other mixtures of food will create a soup that will benefit a lot. CREATING FOOD LIKE DISHES/COOKING IS AN ESSENTIAL FOR FURTHER SURVIVAL IN SURVIVALCRAFT. This feature may solve many problems.

        Is saltpeter chunk able to keep food fresh longer?

        It is logical to use that mineral, but I do not know if Kaalus added that function

    Maybe a bug: doors, stairs slabs etc. can now be placed in water as long as there is air or another block above it. This was not the case before. Looks very strange, too.

        Positive. There cannot be any blocks underneath it, either. You need two block deep water, next to some blocks of course, place a stair next to the top block with the other water underneath, and be sure that you have a big pool of this deep water to see what i mean.

    Kaalus, adding a (not able to eat the same food) bar would help a lot, so people would know if this food is essential to keep eating. Sorry if what I said isn’t clear enough but well, you get the idea… so what do you think? Is this doable?

    Oh cmon….. why is that lighting keeps striking so much in my land…… the forest that is surrounding my area became blunt, the blocks and fences that i used to surrounded my ostritches(sry prbbly wrong spelling) got totally wiped out, my window caught fire so therefore my nearby chest with valuable things in it got burned down and my bridge needed a reconstruction.

      Kaalus. I agree.
      Lightning strikmes 10 times as often as I think it should and does infinitely more damage than it should.
      Survival Craft is the coolest game in the history of apps.
      The only and I mean only thing I think could use some fixing is the frequency and damage from Lightning.

          Lightning’s frequency and damage is very out of balance with “reality”. He seems to disagree since this release increases the frequency! Sometimes I think kaalus is too close to the forest to notice the trees (see what I did there?)

        I agree, there are too many lightnings during storms in SC and they do too kuch damages, in real life, a lightning striking near you is kinda really rare and wouldnt likely happen more than once per storm.

        Use lightning rods on your builds, just place 3-4 iron fences on top of each other so lightning will hit it and nothing happens. Looks weird, but it works.

    could you reduce the number of germanium to make a semiconductor block from 9 to 4 or make it take less semiconductor blocks to craft a piston its hard to get pistons in survival mode

      He altready increased the amount of Pistons that you get with the recipe (5 Pistons instead of 1), so I think that is,good enough…

    Kaalus in you terrain video, you were flying with panning, like a plane. You also had the ability to increase the speed a lot. Please give us that option as well!

      I agree, that would be nice. But I would hate for unwanted tilting, so I think if he did implement this feature, there could be settings where you can turn this on and off. Also, I was thinking that he could use tilt settings (but now I wonder, how else would he do it? heh)

      I thought it might have been a new feature on creative aswell, disappointed we can’t.. Yet…
      Perhaps an optional feature for Windows versions would work.

      I think that to move that fast it would crash alot of devices if they weren’t a high end PC, so introducing even a slide bar or camera tilt would cause more harm than good with so many people running lower or mid end devices.

          No underestimation, I have an extremely powerful Android device, 8 core processor, 4gb ram ssd etc. But my large worlds load very poorly on 320 block view, to much information to render for the system so flying at standard speed looks poor, imagine if it had to render 2or3 times quicker? I would cause the threads to un snyc and crash your game.

          Devices still have away to come to be able to run this properly on max settings. PC on the other had is way more powerful for the accessibility.

    I’ll be back after a little bit of trying this with the Moga controllers. I definitely agree with the others about custom bindings for the buttons because one size definitely doesn’t fit all especially with all the random Bluetooth controllers out there. Thanks again for the updates.

      Yep. Also happens with my OTG gamepad, the analog sticks works good, but the buttons doesn’t fit with my controller. Also happens in Minecraft PE, but how in MCPE i can asign the buttons of the gamepad, works perfectly. Sorry for my english ;D

    Bug report

    When im using gamepad and playing creative mode, and i browsing itims.. When i press down button it skip the next page.. It was like.. im in page 1/3 then press down button.. Well it should be 2/3 right? But no. It goes straight to 3/3 page skipping the page 2..

    Kaalus, please can you add buttons/control remapping ingame? And reloading assigned button For bow&arrows and gun. i know assigned button is little bit crowded but button combination may fix it like what you did on fly mode in creative mode it was A+A(X+X) button maybe we can used this way.

    It was like this when remapping.

    RELOADING = L+B or THUB1

    Just example. Remapping featured add more posibilities.

    Is there currently a way to add players into old worlds, or delete players from worlds with 2-4 players? If not, please add this feature. I would love to be able to play with my friends on my old worlds. And thanks for adding opposite 3rd and 4th player screens. It is so much easier to play now.

      Yup it’s there. There is the option to add players delete players and change the screen layout also change the input method (touchscreen, controller, keyboard) for each player… Go to the pause screen (well I guess it doesn’t pause the game anymore but idk what to call it) and go to edit players it’s all there!

    Can the Kill Circuit (in your previous video) projectiles be made more lethal?

    Dying animals tend to clog it up and the “ammo” falls out of the loop and onto the ground, to fade out.

        Its normal.. It just like pitching machine use in baseball game practice.. When it trow ball and hit u The ball just fell in the ground. u need to pick it up and fill to despenser again..besides.. it made for despensing thing. its a despenser.. Using it for traps is just a bonus..

    Is it intentional that the raw bird and the iron ingots, as well as the torch ember and rotten egg, use the same texture? it sure would be helpful for people who use custom texture packs if these completely different items had their own textures

    the PC Windows 10 is still at 2.0.30.0, I’m patient because I love the game and know it’s just one man doing it, but maybe a better more fair strategy is to not release new updates till the current update is there for all platforms, then release a new one….. i see 2.1.6 going out and get a bit frustrated… please update soon for PC.

    Since version 2.1.x, when controls are set for buttons on the left and touchpad on the right, the look pad renders at mid-screen right side, not in the bottom right corner where it was.

    There is a problem I have recently found, and thought I should report it here.
    I have an incinerator room in my house, I use lava to destroy unnecessary blocks, this is mostly for fun. Before the 2.1 updated I couldn’t hear the Lava, except when I was in the room with it. However now I can hear it in other rooms where I couldn’t hear it before. It isn’t a huge problem, but it can be mildly annoying when I’m building, and can hear the persistent bubbling of the Lava.
