2.1.2 going out

I’ve just published 2.1.2 bugfix release to Google Play.

I’ve decided to make experience orbs available in creative. No need for the chest hack to get them. They’re now in creative inventory.

Here’s what you’re getting in 2.1.2:

  • Made experience orbs collection sound quieter
  • D-Pad Down does not switch camera when GUI is active
  • Vital Stats widget improvements (10 half bars instead of 8 blending bars)
  • Gamepad cursor speed setting added
  • Sensitivities screen merged with controls screen
  • Animals will break off chase for longer than previously
  • Gamepad B/Circle button goes back to previous screen on all screens
  • Gamepad B/Circle button closes game menu
  • Amount of dropped experience displayed in Recipaedia block description
  • Gravel drops gravel blocks correctly
  • Fixed masses of wolves spawning at full moon
  • Explosions can now generate much bigger pressure if many barrels are put next to each other
  • Increased explosion resistance of iron blocks, copper blocks and diamond blocks to withstand stronger explosives in 2.1
  • Added furniture mirroring
  • Added experience orbs to creative inventory
  • Reduced wolves, coyotes and rhinos spawn rate
  • Optimized sleeping to take less time

Quite a lot for a bugfix release :-)

    Told you guys to be patient. Now I ask that you just increase the amount of times you can eat the same food and decrease the likelihood of catching flu. I also think panthers are a bit to quick. Make them more like tigers used to be.

      No, I kindly disagree with increasing the amount of eating the same food otherwise it’ll be boring in survival. I’d also love to see this happen to be more and more difficult every level? I don’t know but I strongly agree with decreasing chance of catching flu, we need other elements to help you not get wet. Because wetness in cold areas is the number one reason why people catch cold easily. So making more craftables that help in stopping this like some sort of material/ object that prevents you from getting wet: e.g umbrella/leather rain coat

        You don’t get it. Many people play this game and the general difficulty has become too difficult for most. Also these things are unrealistic. You don’t just get flu from getting cold so easily. It is actually a contagious disease you get from other people. You can survive long on just eating onmoontlik or meat or eggs. It is unrealistic to die just because you have only eggs. It contains all you need to survive for very long.

          I have been enjoying the increased difficulty, taken me almost 30 days to build a decent house, where it took 10 in the last version. Constantly needing a new, fresh food source has slowed many things, but I’m already level 6 or 7 and kicking butt on normal cruel mode.

          I’ll increase the difficulty later once I feel I remastered ranged weapons, but food is not an issue.
          I still wish there were more crops, and means to preserve food, but that did add a little challenge.

          I’m mainly just glad to see these new limitations to `stop players from destroying the world by operating for weeks or months at a time. One player can not mine a 20×20 area down to bedrock in just 30 days anymore, probably not even 100 could do it now without casualties. Need farmers, miners, wood cutters, hunters, (hopefully fishermen), builders and more just to drain a small sized area of resources, and if even 10% are as conservative as you(Johan Steyn) and me one “continent (biome size x2)” can last 10,000 players for years and years without problems.

      In my opinion, I think survival has become abbot too much in the flavor of working against the main character. With the flu, and rot, and more deadly creatures, there needs to be something that is more straight up beneficial for the player, one possibility even being the ability to tame wolves or something, and medicine to ease injuries quicker like the flu.

          I think the raincoat with a hoodie sounds more reasonable, than an umbrella, but that is just me anyways. Regardless, I’m a bit disappointed that you get sick when you’re wet, especially since just being in the rain doesn’t make one sick.

          Why not both? Each could have its own tradeoffs w.r.t. game balance:
          – An _umbrella_ lets you stay completely dry, but you have to actually hold it in your hand (currently-active slot). Using anything else (axe, machete, bow, etc) means the umbrella stops sheltering you & goes back to your inventory. As for size…1.5 – 2 m diameter? (1 m diameter seems small, given how easily the player gets wet when walking under a 1-block-wide “roof”, and 3 m diameter is a little unrealistic, so somewhere in between seems better.)
          – A _leather raincoat_ keeps the rain off of you & your clothes, but can still get damp on its own. (I.e., it prevents you from being warm when it’s damp, but you’re fine once you can take it off. Also, it wouldn’t hold up to snow or being damp in frozen areas — the dampness would start to freeze, leeching body heat right out of the player.)
          – A _parka_ (or just _fur-lined raincoat_) keeps you dry & warm in both rain & snow. Possible downsides (for game balance): The puffy hood could limit your peripheral vision a bit, or it might “require regular coating with fish oil to retain [its] water resistance” (from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parka), and you’d have to take it off when in temperate areas (too warm, player could overheat).

        Survival irl is working against you.

        You have to fight your environment unless you are on an island with no predators and loads of coconuts.

        The game has been easy for a long time.

      The few problems I have are (I haven’t tried 2.1.2 yet only 2.1.0)
      Too many predators. It’s more annoying to deal with than fun.
      With the flu he needs to add something against getting wet.
      I feel like late game food rot might be annoying. Early on it is a fun challenge but later on I want a better way to preserve food. Maybe he could add a fridge and the recipe would be the chest, but with iron or copper blocks. (This way you have to be late game to preserve food for extended time.) food should still rot eventually though. Maybe after 30 in game days or more.

        Probably in a week because he need to announce that ios is coming and it would take about five days for Apple to review. I am waiting for Windows to come out. :-)

    I personally liked the spawn rate of animals in 2.0 Predators spawn a decent amount, but it was fun and challenging. Now I’m afraid it’s just kind of annoying.

    I started mining a block about the same time I got an in game notification (I think hunger) and it “mirrored” the screen into the cracks of the rocks whenever I was mining them.

    There is only one other issue that has come to my attention. Animals keep jumping my fences and tromping my tilled earth. I really enjoy farming, so this came as a surprise to me. 😅 I’m not sure if that’s a bug or not, but I thought I should say something now. Thanks for hearing me out.

      You may also have some terrain blocks too close to your fence. In the last version I would dig out a trench of width minimum of 2 blocks around any fenced areas. In new version you have new animals, maybe jumping distance is increased. If you have luxury of buckets, you can also make a moat around fenced areas. I think animals have more difficult time jumping a fence when in water below the level of the blocks the fence is built on.

      Wooden fences can be jumped over by the player and any other animal with a bit of perseverance. Also any fence that is one block high can be jumped by wolves, coyotes, hyenas, leopards, tigers, etc. so use two block high fences, or even three block high fences to protect from werewolves.

    This good and all but can you add the feature that allows dispensers to absorb items thrown at it. It would follow the chest mechanic and be useful in contraptions.

    Kaalus I think the lightning has a bug
    It strike too constantly and I have to keep on building back my house

      100% agree and wanted for a longtime. Kaalus please let us know if you’re able to make campfire act as an interactive block so you tap it like a furnace and could only be able to cook meat and fish. This is very important as we need expanding the early time of the game and make more use for fire: Warmth, protection and combustion

      Or even better make meat and fish cook after 10 seconds one by one if dropped on top of the campfire or instead of making campfire act as an interactive block make it so if you hold meat/fish and tap it onto campfire, it will be place on the fire wood. Do anything possible kaalus, thank you.

      +1. Forcing the player to make a full on furnace that can melt iron just to cook a fish is a bit unrealistic, and cooking on campfires seems cool. I think campfires should only be able to cook food items and do so very slowly.

    Kaalus I found a bug, iron materials like cell doors, trap doors, iron fence, iron ladders and any iron made blocks don’t give good resistance against explosives and I think it’ll be more useful to have them be as resistant as iron solid block, because they so far have no use to crafting them rather than wooden materials except iron materials being fire resistant. Please make all metallic materials in the game explosion resistant in a way in order to fix this bug.

    Thanks for the bug fixes, my only complaints now are that:
    -The player seems to get flu way too easily. I have had situations where I had caught it while swimming, which is basically a GG as you start panting and you can’t get out without drowning, even if you literally are at the shore.
    -Crafting table lighting bug. The crafting table doesn’t update properly overnight and can bug in a wide variety of ways.

    A suggestion:
    Cooking with campfires, but only food. Smelting materials can stay exclusive to the furnace. I got this idea while playing earlier, as it would make a lot of since and would help while exploring so you don’t have to hog a furnace around.

    Also, please take into consideration some of the other ideas above, they are really good!
    It’s nice that you are actually listening to us, taking real care and consideration into your project!

    I have a Texture bug with the new donkey texture. When you put a saddle on the donkey the new texture colors change to the old texture…also in the bestiary most of the animals say they have the herding behavior when they really don’t (Example: Wildboar)

      Wildboars do have a herding behavior, try hitting one when there are others nearby, and they are all going to chase you, juste like wolves or bulls do. ;)

    Kaalus I have a few extremely reasonable suggestions I would like to share that will help Survivalcraft 2.1:

    • Make chestplate armors, fur coat, and sweaters protect your sleeves. Because it doesn’t look like anything we wear in life. (Not leather jerkin) Especially when we have multiplayer available, it looks weird when they’re sleeveless.

    • Have several ways to stop getting wet either: leather rain coat that protects your head (like a hoodie) and torso from rain (only makes wetness reach 2) or make an umbrella made form leather and sticks? It’s your choice kaalus, so please don’t regect.

    Please, this will truly help in the game and please try doing this

    The game game has really become difficult specially with the sicknesses and such, one of my requests is that you make Animals tamable, because it not only makes the game more enjoyable but makes it easier for the player, and it also give Animals like let’s say giraffes,gnus and other animals that don’t drop stuff a purpose, which it to fight for you and cure your boredom XD

    Everyone, is hunger going to decrease faster while doing tiring/energy-consuming actions in upcoming bug fix updates? If not, i hope it does so… An idea to how to do this is making every stamina timeout (when it’s empty) loses a 0.5 hunger? We need more challenges that encourage us to think out of the box like this one. Let me know please…

    I like the Decision to turn Experience Orb into a proper item.

    Now is way more faster to Level Up in Creative (well, is barely useful), but most importantly would be really useful for some Adventure Maps! (Now is easier to have Chests or Dispensers filled with Experience)

    Kaalus, there needs to be more food in survivalcraft. Either that, or the limit on the amount of the same food you can eat needs to go. There is simply not enough food in the game for such a feature just yet, especially in the early game where the player cant really hunt or farm, you can eat only pumpkin and eggs. Maybe the addition of a bunch more crops would help. Other than that, loving the update. Good work Kaalus!

      +1. SC has an amazing infrastructure, but lacks content! Just add loads of food. Berries like strawberries, blackberries, etc.; meat variations like pork, beef or veal; different crops like barley, corn and wheat; fruit like bananas and apples; as well as more craftable foods like pasta, cake, chocolate, sandwiches, or popcorn.

    Guys, in one of my Creative world, one of the Spawner egg that I’ve got into a box turned into a “White Bull Spawner egg”

    Is simply named as “Egg” and looks white like a Seagull Egg, but it spawns a White Bull Instead!

    I think that is a similar situation of Cooked Werewolves eggs from Previous Updates.

    Hello again. Quick suggestion. It would be nice to allow the player to map the buttons on gamepad. This way everyone could make it comfortable for itself.
    One more thing that should be easy to implement is the ability to create gravel from rock pieces.

    I would like the jump button on the right again, as I miss the ease of jump. And what about making it so the higher level you are on, the faster you run, the faster you mine, or the more minerals you can get from one block?

    I have to amend my earlier worries about the new terrain generation. Once you get the hang of combining island size, temp, and biome factor, it’s a blast!

    I can see creative types finally getting their dream islands – desert, meadow, mountainous, in between weird-scrapes with <1x biomes.

    It's so much fun just playing with these settings.

    Have any of the previously noted bugs (such as on the bug lists at the forum) been addressed? One particularly troublesome one is the glitchy touch input timing. The game seems to confuse the left and right touches and suddenly the character is facing in the opposite direction. This is very dangerous in creul mode! Likely the same bug comes into play when constantly breaking blocks. This is worst in creative. Suddenly instead of breaking them, he starts placing whatever is selected. This bug has been reported on Android and iOS by numerous players.
    Other times, if you’re moving while constantly breaking blocks, the left control simply stops responding. Try and try again and it will not start moving again until the right control is released.

      I think the last issue you said is actually just the device itself. Anytime you hold one side for too long, it starts ignoring the opposite side. I ran into this issue a lot with emulators on my phone.

        Thanks for the input. The most problematic one is the first. I’ve stepped off of cliffs because of it and found myself suddenly running INTO the animal I was running away from. That one I’m certain is NOT a device issue as there are reports from other users, not even on the same OS…

    And i have request for future update. Please add some simple editor to creative mode.
    -some tool to select objects
    -copy, paste, delete selected objects/area
    -rotate

    And thats it. We waiting 5 years for some kind of editor. There has been many attempts to creting one but without succes. Those are couple small tools that will speed up creating process and there will be more awesome creation from community.
    I know the best way of doing this is by coding separate app without fancy graphics, patchfinding and all that unnecesary things.
    But i can deal with limitations if u consider adding this tools to game. Even possibilty of copy, paste, rotate 16x16x16 chunk will be awesome.

    U can actually monetize this. Make full editor with some neat features. Sell it for how much u want and i will be the first one who buy it.

      Honestly spoon3r, there have been a couple attempts with moderate success. I think the problem is that the developers get discouraged by no serious responses. I was helping test out one last year, then the dev just disappeared. I still have his alpha exe file but it was very clunky.
      Kaalus has provided a description of the chunks file for just this reason, although it could a bit clearer. We just need a truly committed programmer who’ll stick with it all the way… (I’m too busy with so many other things to add this on my plate!)

We can’t even contact anyone with issues, any more. They have no “help” button. The “contact us” ‘button’ isn’t even a link any more.     *SUGGESTIONS

    *decrease the chance of diseases

    *add animal taking because the game is getting to hard and animals like giraffes and gnus and other animals don’t have a purpose because they don’t drop anything to help survive so why not take them to fight for you

    *create some sort of refrigerator or make food spoil slower in a chest

    *Suggestions:
    – We need a fishing rod (i really wanna fish in my boat)
    – The ability to cook food in campfire (size of campfire decrease the time to cook the food and maybe add a % to burn it making the food less helpful to combat hunger or even useless)
    – Salt to protect the food so fast (or even use ice blocks)
    – Decrese the rate we get the flu ,currently too annoying instead of challenging

      REALLY!? You mean you can get to level 99 and kill stuff with one punch? WOW! Totally fair to hackers, and new players just get some bots to gather exp orbs for you and you’ll be level 50 in a few days. Also diamond armor is even useless at that point, so little point in even mining now… SO MUCH HYPE FOR LEVELS! (Said by someone coming up on level 10 after just 1 day.)

      The max multiplier is reached at lv 21 (why 21 and not 20?)

      Level upping furthermore is nearly useless except for the Fact that when you die, it keeps more levels

    En general me gusta la actualización, en un primer vistazo en supervivencia veo lo difícil que es sobrevivir ahora, si me gustaría que no fuera tan rápido lo de la gripe además cuesta mucho quitarla, además debo decir que no me gusta que se tenga que dormir demasiado para curar la gripe y también para que amanezca, por otro lado me sigue apareciendo demasiados lobos cerca de mi casa, por otro lado al disminuir la rapidez hacia atrás le resta oportunidad al jugador de vivir contra un oso… en general va ser un reto este juego ahora.

    A few bugs:
    • Recipaedia: Pumpkin Soup has 4 recipes, all of which look identical.
    • World from v2.0: Item stack problem: I had 3 copper bucket items (call them A, B, C). Buckets A & B would stack together; bucket C would not stack with either (or both) of them. This continued happening even after I shuffled the items around (moving between inventory & 6-slot item bar at bottom) — one bucket wouldn’t stack with any of the others, but the other two would stack with each other. Happens when all are empty, and when all have water. (I haven’t tried lava buckets or milk buckets.)
    • World from v2.0: Ore smelting (or furnace?) problem: Iron ore & Germanium ore harvested before the v2.1.* update don’t want to smelt — drop either of them into a furnace & add some coal, and nothing happens. OTOH, drop other stuff into the furnace and it works just fine. Note- I haven’t tried with ore harvested after the v2.1 update, but will try finding some new ore veins.

    The buckets, ore blocks, and furnace look normal in the project.xml file, but these bugs continue after quitting a world, closing the app, and relaunching the app + loading the world. (My player is currently level 4, if it matters.)

      These bugs seem pretty unknown, good thing you reported them, this will help a lot because the more the reports, the less problems occur and no problems will make the update available in no time! Keep testing stuff everyone.

      Just dig the ore again. Problem fixed. I also found the pumpkin soup recipe bug. If I remember correctly there is another food with two recipes that are the same.

        You must be talking about recipe of cooked egg. Maybe one recipe is for laid and another one for “fresh” one. Didn’t have possibility to test it.

    Awesome update!

    I killed myself with shotgun (RIP Ada). :)
    I play alone, because my brother doesn’t like “blockygames”… I tried split screen with 4 players and it’s funny on a 4,5” screen :) and a bit lags.
    My device is Huawei Ascend G6 L11 4G, 4 cores, 1 GB RAM. SC works perfectly.

          There is two ways to do this:
          I use total commander

          1st:
          Need ROOTed phone/tablet.
          Open total commander
          Go to “File system root” >>>”data” >>> “data” >>> com.candyrufusgames.survivalcraft2″ >>> “files” >>> “Worlds”
          here, if you have more than one world, must identify your world, because SC2 call the worlds world, world1, world2 etc.
          for example:
          got to “World”
          copy somewhere the Project.xml file. It must be copied, because here it can’t be edited.
          where you copied, open the file, the total commander opens it.
          in this file are written everything about the world.
          scroll down until you find ”
          find “WorldName” Type=”string” Value=””
          here, between the “” is written the world name
          if you find the correct name:
          scroll up
          almost the top find <Value Name="HighestLevel" Type="float" Value=""
          modify, what you want (example: from 1.74 to 34567.74)
          after that, under this, find >>”data” >>> “data” >>> com.candyrufusgames.survivalcraft2″ >>> “files” >>> “Worlds” >>> “World”

          2nd:
          in sc2 export the world to sdcard
          in total commander find the file
          extract that
          after that you can edit the Project.xml
          after the modification, copy the modified Project.xml file into the world file
          after copy the worldfile to SD-card/Survivalcraft
          open SC2, and import the world

          to modify the number of the item in the chest or dispenser:
          example: modify experience orb number

          place two experience orb in each place
          follow one instructions above
          in the file find

          the 248 identify the experience orb

          modify each
          the number 2 is what you put in to the chest
          modify the number what you want (example from 2 to 99999)

          I am not responsible for errors resulting from the implementation of the description

    i know a temp bugfix
    sometimes when you edit a world (changegamemode,time,supernatural creatures,etc.)when you select apply changes you are sent to the title screen
    to fix this you start the world then exit it then you can edit it
