As you know from the last post, I am adding capability to have multiple players in the same world.

What we need is several built-in skins, so that every guy can look different.
I am currently on a short skiing holiday, but have a laptop with me and I’m doing some coding in spare time. There’s still a plethora of things to fix and add before 2.1 can be released.
I am worried that this is going to take too long. I figured out what you can do to help, if you want! Make the skins.
What we are after are both male and female skins. Here’s the requirements:
- They must be in the same style as the default guy and they must be real men/women (no monsters, clowns, slendermen etc.)
- They might have different skin color (black, asian, mulatto etc.)
- They must be clothed in boxer shorts only (male) or shorts + bra only (female). No other clothing.
- Size must be 64×64 pixels (like the default skin).
Easiest to make them by modifying the default skin:

I use isopix app to edit pixels for pics it’s good to use to edit skins too and texture packs
Paint.net on pc works best, but Pictbear is also OK.

Ok so I’m super tard atm, been a while since I imported a skin, I’ve got a 64×64 .png file copied it to my survivalcraft folder and now it’s recognised as a block texture in game. What am I missing?
Oh right change the file extension to .Scskin … I’ll email some to you.

Found a bug on Bugs. If I pass level 1 and I close and reopen the game before the first round of level 2 starts (that screen where it says to click to start), the game copies the winning layout in level 1 into level 2 regardless of terrain and says that I beat level 2, and then moves on to level 3. I tried this again with level 3 and it worked exactly the same way.
When I say that I closed and reopened the game, I mean that I closed the tab without exiting and then opened the game. I found this bug by accident.
The new skin looks good.

I made a few but it made them texture pack in survival craft.
Well I had the same issue yesterday and answered my own questions above if you read back.
Save the file as 64×64 .Png file, then in your file manager on Android or computer on Windows, IOS Doesn’t count :P change the file extension to .scskin. Once finished the file move it into the survivalcraft folder, where ever you have specified that to be, for me on Android it’s on my SD card.
Then you can load up the game and import it from content>sd card. Hope that helps.
To make it a skin in survival craft be sure to rename the file format to .scskin not .png or .jpeg

If you are on Android which I assume you are then you will need to use file manager. The icon usually looks like a paper folder.
You need to long press the file that you want to change the file extension of and then go to rename.
You should now be able to change the file name and the extension. Delete what is there and right “name of file”. Scskin
Then still within file manager copy the file to your survivalcraft folder, open up the game and go to content > sd card and select your new skin.
If you’re on Windows then you will need to change the permissions in control panel. Google it if it’s the case because I’m not going to explain it here.
If you are using IOS then the best way to change the file extension is to go to the bin, open it then proceed to throw the phone in. Next step is to drive to the shops and buy a real phone ;)

File manager should be part of the operating system installed already on your device
I’ve tried it but it just names it Skin.Scskin.png.
Get Total Commander or Es File explorer. The standard file explorer is not great. I prefer TC.
Well now I can safely say Kaalus has no foresight.
IF you can make your own skins already, and download ones from other levels, etc.
WHY do we need to use default ones?
So the game can default to different skins rather than having an incomplete game when using using the new feature, Convenient for the end user to not have to download extra data and select different skins when default ones could and will be included.
It also means there will be an easy to access collection of skins in a relatively consistent style.

For the very same reason, I suggested that there must be more than one default texture.
The multiple skins in the game is an almost necessary thing for multiplayer to work properly. Many default textures is not. One major point you may not have considered is the download size. Three extra skins uses a fifth of the download size of one extra HD texture. These textures are sometimes in excess of a megabyte, adding a few could lengthen the download time by over half a minute on slow connections. This is for a feature that many (including myself) wouldn’t use and any that want to use can do anyway easily.
Hi there Tom. I do realise that for some custom textures are redundant. If you look at the amount of downloads of texture packs, clearly not everybody think so. The most is more than 130 000 and many are more than 50 000 even those that clearly shows version 2.0 (top 116 000, mine 50 000). That is high if you consider that less than 100 000 SC2 has been sold (it shows more than 10 000). SC1 shows more than 500 000. And yes I know there are multiple installs on one sell.
All I’m trying to say, is that for you it is unimportant, for many, I’d not most, it is.
Now on the issue of size. This is mute. I think SC is about 12M, which is very small. MC is about 24M, double in size, yet I have never heard any body complain about the size. Some games are more than a Gig. If Kaalus added three HD textures, it might increase the game by 4M. This will not kill the game, will it? You also do not sit and download the game every five minutes. SC is updated 1 to 3 times a year. Please do not use the issue of size, it really is not a factor unless it is huge,which SC is clearly not!
Why is this a good thing? There are still new guys that do not want to go through the trouble of downloading via CC. And that was the point I was reacting to with my post on textures. With MC it is such a mission to dl textures and they do offer on the go textures but at a price. Most new players are current MC players that knows all this but does not expect SC to be any different, which it is. So my proposal is to have, like Skins, a few HD textures as well which is available immediately with the option to download more.
People like options. Some people don’t, but most do and won’t be bothered by 4M extra. This is about marketing the product in the best way. I believe this will help.
To., half a minute once or twice a year? Is that so bad?
My first computer was a ZX Spectrum 1983 with 48K Ram and 8 colours with brightnes (making it 16). I grew up with 8 bit computers and every time graphics improved, we were amazed by the advance. Now people seem to want to go back to 8 bit quality graphics and it just does not make sense to me.
The total screen resolution of the Spectrum was 256×192. Now people don’t understand why I want more than 512 resolurion textures. Why be satisfied by lower res? Why can’t we go higher? The technology is there, especially on PC’s.
I think a better solution to this problem would be a tutorial that also covers the use of CC.
Tutorials would be a great idea, except for one problem, people have become extremely lazy. They do not want any baseless,everything must be very easy ,without any effort from their part. People generally do not want to go to a tutorial at all, especially not when they begin to play a game.
Do you think it could be possible to add the ~1000 blocks view distance in the next update? Im certain it would work pretty well on pc and even some fast devices :p

Someone has thought that would happen if a player dies in cruel multiplayer mode, if the world were eliminated would be a great disappointment.
For females. The shoulders should DEFINITELY be slimmed down, since making them as large as the male skin is highly unrealistic, as well as maybe making some removal of dots on the mid portion to expression female skins having more larger hips as is realistically. But that’s just my opinion

The gravity in Survivalcraft is 10m/s2, so ever so slightly exaggerated from reality. You are probably used to Minecraft gravity which is massively exaggerated.

Kaalus, SC2 is, epic. But it still needs plenty of work. You have no idea how long I never even looked at SC because of both the lack of multiplayer and lack of updates for 2.0. PLEASE, there are so many people who would give up MC forever with LAN multiplayer. I’m sorry about this post, bye. :(

If you want them to stay you will have to use strictly pull pistons and not have the required number of blocks to pull but if you only want to them to stay for a length of time add an editable delay gate or 2 into the circuit.
A good way to learn electricity and circuits is to download someone else’s world that has a lot of or similar things to what you want to build and pull it apart bit by bit just to see first hand what does what. If you go to university they call that “reverse engineering”

Name who what? The skins will hopefully have names, but there will still be people that use defaults or just inhuman skins cause they can and they look cool. Players should have names to prevent confusion, but people could still change skins to try and confuse other players.
I recolored human skins to make Middle-eastern, Native American, African and Oriental skins.

Expecting too much in this next update but right now all im seeing is for people who wants multiplayer i also want multiplayer. What you (kaalus) said is that you would work for survival players too since you gave an update for creative mode players guess i have to wait for a while to see those little things in this next update (coz the big update is that multiplayer).
P.S. I know thats not a multiplayer but its the only way i can describe it (sorry for my bad english)
Why won’t this build? It’s 16×16 x8, it’s built on dirt and does not say that it’s to large.. Can’t work it out. Too much block data?
It says it’s too complex, basically it means it’s got too much edges. Try removing the small island, could help… You aren’t too much above the limit (123%)
How can you tell the percentage?
Holy jeebers.. . I’m that blind no serious I could not see the fine print at all unit I got super curious as to how you could tell…. Well I guess I’m off to the optometrist LOL
So I reduced the complexity by removing the island and simplifing the trees. It works I guess but misses the flare for detail now :(
On a different note while I was messing around with the complexity I found a bug, not that big of a deal but still a bug.
In the first photo you will notice the complexity is 101% when I’m on the bottom edge of the furniture
In the second photo you can see that the complexity is 100 % and the build button is now highlighted. No variables have changed other than the position in which I’m in to build the furniture. Note that even though the build button is highlighted and its says 100% I still cannot build it, the button ineffectivly just animates the press action.
Don’t know enough about programming to tell if this is important enough to mention but I thought I would bring it to your attention just in case.
I would try making a topographical map – make the blue the bottom layer, then build sand layer on top (with no voids inside the land mass, and add other colors on top of sand layer.
I know you prob. want a flat map but doing my idea may help, since bottom layer has only 6 sides (elongated box). Imagine you had to cut with a jigsaw not only the island but the hole in the water where the island sits, and voids in the sand where trees or grass (?) sit. hkarta is right – that is a lot of faces.
Hello hkarta. I’m contacting you, or at least trying to do so, on the topic of a minecraft to survivalcraft converter tool you made years ago. I understand that the tool is outdated but could still be rather useful. You see, me and a few others in a build group have noticed that the download link has gone down or removed. We should probably cool down at this point. I mean, it started with the word lament and is now a full-blown argument.
I have a suggestion for how to market the game. After you release this update remove the SC Demo from all app stores and make Survivalcraft 1 free. Every update Survivalcraft 1 is updated incrementally, always staying two updates behind SC2 (if this is not enough you could wait another update and have it staying three behind) This would:
1) Nobody could buy SC1, not realising that SC2 exists.
2) People who have no way of paying can still play SC and contribute to the community. The demo has 50,000,000 downloads on Google Play. This is the same number as Minecraft full version these many active players would make SC very popular.
3) People who bought SC1 and cannot afford SC2 are not left completely stranded.
4) SC1 has a point.

I totally agree, right now people may pay for SC1 while not even knowing there is a SC2 or mistaking it, and also having SC1 free could influence people playing it to buy SC2
It could work for generating player base definitely, but I think the risk kaalus would have to take is people who will always stay 2 or 3 updates behind to play free forever. I know the games good enough to immediately grab any right minded persons attention but without multiplayer its not going to be enough to draw the masses. It’s the way of the future in gaming and it is a prerequisite for many gaming platforms for the younger generation to even consider playing the game for an extended period of time little own purchase anything associated with the game.
Personally now when I purchase or play any new pc game multiplayer is the first thing I’m looking for. So happens SC is the only game that’s not multiplayer that’s captured my attention for so long, and no I’ve never played minecraft lol heck I used to play lan parties on BG1 17 years ago. I’m sure it couldn’t be that hard to implement LAN features in the future.
