It looks like its the same color as the plank he’s holding, so wood chippings/carvinga as everyone else has said. But, look at the dirt on the right. A line of blocks used to be there. Maybe Kaalus did make a structure with planks, and then shrunk it down and hid the device. Whatever it is, its entirely related to geometry/blocks/shapes. I’m more excited for the new survival mechanic he hinted at.
I play survival so the survival part interests me more too.

Its not microblocks. So far multiblock structures makes the most sense. Micro block sculpting requires too much data for a single block.
I’d say the “fragment” in pic is really multiple full size blocks, tossed there and so floating as a mini version of itself. Thats normal behavior.
A lot of guys are mentioning things that do not require 32 bits, like stocks and copying. People also say that sculpturing will require way more data than 32 bits. If this is the problem, how did Kaalus make memory chips? They handle way more data than 16 bits. It is simple, he keeps that information separate. He only needs data to describe what it is and then record the data separately. He will need extra bits only for that data.
Explain the texture.
Certain Minecraft mods have the sculpting ability, and does MC use 32bit blocks?
The problem with it being a multi block structure is that we cannot actually have one side of a block be one color, and the other sides be different. So the pixels I see are different colors and if they were part of a multi block structure they would need to be the same color
Hmmm, Kaalus said the main feature had to do with 32 bit blocks. It might be a microblock, if this is the main feature. Although, the item doesnt look like a block in the game.

I think structure pick ups may actually be it. Look at the shape of the dirt and the shape of the object both turn right and are perfect straight lines. Maybe that’s for decoration and that explains why it helps creative players. It’s basically a way of sculpting. You build something, use a device of some sort and bam! You have a little sculpture of some sort. Kaalus, if this it please be sure to be able to obtain the “magic item” in survival so we can make sculptures then too.

I think I have , there is a machine that makes smaller to carry with you structures , has made a structure and cringed, then it will be a copy and paste type and edit world ? !!
But 32 bit is not needed to do this. This could have been included with only 16 bits.

Survival feature request: snow blocks that generate in cold environments that collapse/ compact. Like if you walk on it it compresses to like a half block/slab, kind of like how grass trapa disappear but instead into a “snow slab”. This would make walking in snow slow as well as leave tracks… Also, you’d be able to jump/fall from a higher height and receive less/no damage.

Yes this happens to me on my HD6. The sound works at first for about a minute or less, then it disappears.
I also get frequent freezes that cause me to have to hold the power button just to be able to close the app.

Copy and pasting would not require 32 bits. Remember that he said it is a tiny spec of what he is doing. Sculpturing is a possibility, but he compared it to electrics, so it could be mechanics of some sort. So this could be a lever of some sort. It is a dropped item, not a placed item. Comparing this with the previous picture brings more confusion than clarification.
The lines on the ground are quite fishy as well.
Then again, if it is a dropped item, why is there not an empty slot?
If it is a crafting system, you might go into crafting or sculpturing mode and when you are finished, it will give you the item to pickup like in the picture. That would explain the lines.
The bend on the ground goes the wrong way. If it was a structure that he built, and then shrank, the shape in the dirt bends the wrong way

Here is my theory:
IT HAS TO DO SOMETHING WITH SHRINKING BLOCKS/STRUCTURES.
as you guys can see, the dirt has a kind of right angle pattern(kaalus is trying to hide that),and so the object (however, the object is rotating like a broken block).
So most probably, it’s a shrunken block.
We still don’t know what that thing is.
If it was shrunken the structure wouldn’t have the angle in the right direction

One problem with he higher one…if you spawned in the moose it’s kinda obvious because they live in cold regions. The second one is master building, though. At least for me. :-)

I think I might have played it.
After not playing for many months, I started a cruel world.
Kaalus… your game is too easy.
1. The animals are too easy and there are too many of them. Make less lions but make them fast and powerful. Also, I can stand about 5-10 blocks away and they just stare, no chasing what so ever!
2. THE ORE!!!! I went mining for the first time and found enough diamonds to make a full set of armor. Now, instead of diamond and iron being the hard part, it’s leather!
3. Cotton….. I have a small farm, but it supplies BIG amounts of cotton! The rye amount is good though.
4. Temperature. The only time I start to get ice on my screen is when I am naked in the snow biome. Never happened other then that!
I only started 2 or 3 days ago and already have a large fort, a farm, a ton of recources, a horse and diamond everything…
I hope you make some changes or a whole new game mode altogether.

Agreed. As someone who likes to play on cruel, I wish it was “crueler”; I preferred it when the more aggressive animals chased you on the daytime(1.27?). My feature request is to bring that back as an option. Perhaps a new
Game mode: “impossible”” or “advanced cruel”

I agree! It is a little easy! (Although I’ve died 70+ times on my world :-) And you’re right, to me leather is more valuable than diamonds!. And I think lions spawn too much, even in cold areas! They should be somewhat rare but very tough. Also, wolves should maybe go in bigger packs…..
I want a new game mode too!
My idea is called mixed mode. How it works is you are invincible and can fly but you need to gather material to build everything you need to build…. Sounds pointless but will add a strange twist to creative mode

Idk where you people get this from. It doesn’t actually need 32but blocks to work, and therefore it is an invalid idea. It has to fit the entire description to work.
Kaalus never talked about adding it: Never talked about adding the ability to sculpt blocks
Helps creative users: Sculpting blocks means custom designs, and items(you can make a barrel)
Ive forgotten the rest but sculpting blocks fits the pictures. The last pic was of sculpted sand, floating in static mode(no animals or tall grass)
This pic is using the wood texture, and it has been carved down to a small piece.
The sculpted blocks idea perfectly defines it, so unless you get a better explanation, logical people will go for the idea of sculpted blocks
I’m sorry but I’m pretty sure that sculpting requires way more than 32 bits. Each of these ‘minicubes’ is around 1/16 of a block. Each can be either there or not there therefore you need 16 * 3 = 48 bits just for the sculpting. This maybe could be reduced down slightly but it is unlikely that it is possible with just 18 bits of blockdata. Especially when those are already used for other stuff like painting etc. I don’t have any better guesses but I’m almost certain it can’t be sculpting. Maybe wait for 64 bits which will double the world size as well (again). I don’t think it is going to come. I fI had to guess right now… I’d say either a tool or branch. I do not think it is either but I can’t think of anything better.

I feel worse for Kaalus than I do myself. Here he is trying to add a new cool feature that he wants to keep secret for a while. Yet, you can tell it’s burning him up inside, because he wants to tell us what it is.
You can tell its burning up the community not knowing what it is. Its turned the blog into a war between people who think its a portable shrunken structure and block sculpting

What do YOU think it is
The ability to design and build mechanical devices! Perhaps a new physics engine combined with a CAD interface to design microblock items, Kaalus’s first vague clue looked like a piston / conrod / crankshaft, and this piece could be another part of an engine, or car? Such a feature would allow you to design and build a wide range of mechanical devices.
I really hope so: this would be a great step forward for the game. Actually, the more I look at this the more it seems to fit. If there’s an obvious reason this won’t work then can someone point it out. I think this is the best guess so far. Well done!
On reflection, it might not be that complex, perhaps a generator, could be used for a multitude of uses, powering the electrics, driving conveyor belts, minecart pulley, lifts?
