Cabins and more

Here’s some more stuff you will get in 1.29. Look at the screenshot below.

There are two new features there. One very obvious and one less obvious. Don’t count the new cobblestone texture, this was mentioned before.

LogCabin.jpg

Any guesses?

Btw. I added this a good week ago, long before I saw the screenshots you posted in comments to the last post. Nice coincidence!

Copper tools. Better than stone, not as good as iron.

Iron now is in the basalt level, and no one wants to dig at basalt to find iron without a good pick

Everyone is correct that the axe looks wrong. I did a comparison, and it looks the same color as copper. Does that mean that it is a copper axe? Maybe. Perhaps it is painted, or made out of a different kind of wood? (Or it is just a trick of the lighting.)

The trees are not different. It is probably copper tools. To me it does not make real sense, but so it is with golden tools and weapons in MC. It is senseless, yet people like the variety. And well, the bronze age was before iron, wasn’t it? The only thing is that copper is fairly rare.

This bring me to something very few people have thought of as the big change. Maybe it is that elements will be more plentyful. If Kaalus brings in mine carts or someting like it, a lot more iron will be needed, so that might be the reason that he is including minerals in different type of rocks. This does make sense.

    Just a thought…

  55. Posted January 7, 2016 at 21:43 | Permalink | Reply

Has to be copper. Copper is way worse for a tool than iron is therefore making it show up in a higher layer makes sense. Bronze is a compound metal which means it is not ound in nature; and is mandmade. Also, he already has copper so it’s easy coding. It could give a good use for copper also, I’d make copper arrows if he adds them.

And here is the evidence. Can’t say something and not show you’re resource.
This is from the FAQ ITSELF:

      Q: Why can’t I make copper tools?
Copper is too soft a metal for making tools. The purpose of copper is different: it will eventually be used to craft wires and logical circuits (as of 1.19 this is already in). There are plans to add additional materials from which you’ll be able to craft tools and weapons, but it has not been decided what it will be yet.

As of 1.29, disregard the above. Copper tools and weapons were actually added to the game.

I wonder if it has to do with the weather. A log cabin would likely be catching fire all the time in the powerful storms in SC. BTW, if that isn’t it, can we have a lightning rod so we can still have wooden houses? 😉

    • Posted January 8, 2016 at 12:38 | Permalink | Reply

Because of this, I have disabled weather features. It is sad, but unfortunately neccesary. Lightning criples the game quite a bit. Maybe this will change in the future.

    1. Logs can now be placed
    2. The axe floating looks to be a wooden tool that’s dyed, or you added a new mineral (Which isn’t copper cause you have mentioned that copper is to soft of a material to be a ore used to make a tool)

    • Posted January 8, 2016 at 13:56 | Permalink | Reply
