32bit Painting

Tomorrow I am getting an iPhone 6 for testing the iOS clothing bug. I can’t release 1.29 without fixing it, and it only seems to be happening on 64 bit Apple CPUs.

According to my changelist I have added 45 new features to 1.29 as of today. Man, I am tired :-)

Stone stairs? I thought granite ones made cobble stairs the same as cobble.

Have these been mentioned before? I’ve been away for a week so I might have missed something

Will there be more stairs such as granite or limestone stairs since theres more block id?

Granite stairs were in the video above

Looks great, though I have to admit I’m a little disappointed you still can’t paint just one side of a block.

But still, thanks and great work!

There are not enough bits to do this unfortunately. Maybe one day if he moves to 64 bit blocks.

      • Posted January 4, 2016 at 09:09 | Permalink | Reply

This means that iron cannot be found anymore in granite level and Malachite in basalt level? Strange…

      • Posted January 4, 2016 at 17:50 | Permalink | Reply

Maybe copper tools? I read on the FAQ about it not being in for a reason, but still, it would be better than stone! And since Iron is farther down, it makes since.

        • Posted January 4, 2016 at 18:07 | Permalink

Some types of stone cant be worked by copper very well irl, but in game I can see it working fine as an intermediary level between stone and iron, which would make sense if iron is indeed no longer available above useless basalt

Can Iron blocks be painted too?

Well, I’ve asked Kaalus many questions and have never gotten an answer. It is very simple. He would be answering questions all day and doing no programming if he did answer eveybody’s questions. I suppose it would be nice if he dit give a bit more info on what he thinks of our suggestions.

Thank you kaalus for your continuing updates. Listen if you are tired don’t worry about the game and take a breather. We know it’s hard for developers and it burns people out sometimes. And adding more things can be done at a later day.
All in all thank you for this awsome game that keeps getting better all the time.

Cool! FYI: I have the avatar bug on an iPhone 5S with iOS 8.3 (wow I should update my phone!).

Game starts with weird batman looking guy then devolves to featureless naked figure. Interactive screen shows torso only.

I still don’t see rotatable logs. I really hope this will be happening. Otherwise this is a huge update.

Those are in dire need of new models compared to the other wildlife.

I hope there’s gonna be more colors of blocks cause I do pixel arts :)

    • Posted January 4, 2016 at 08:35 | Permalink | Reply

Nope. I was hoping too, but there are not enough bits. Maybe if he took just one more bit for colours, we could have 32 colours. Unfortunately he would have to redesign the whole inventory system to accomodate all the colour variations. Maybe for some future update this can happen. For now, lets be thankful for the 16 colours we have. I cannot see this changing in the following year, maybe even two years.

  21. Posted January 4, 2016 at 08:47 | Permalink | Reply

Kaalus, if you decide to change the inventory, please make a bock picker. We can then build a block or stairs or whatever, paint it and then select it with a block picker (creative mode) that will add it to your user inventory. We can call it “copy block.” This can be also usefull to copy full chests, dispencers, memory blocks or ovens. This will really help with creative mode. With this feature you can easily increase the colours to 32 or 64. You still have an extra two bits if I remember correctly.

Then let me dream a bit more… You can also use this maybe to copy bigger designs, like walls. It would be nice to have an increase in building speed by copying and pasting full walls with windows, roofs, mountains, trees, floors etc. Just a though for a future update. Let me know if you think I’m crazy.

I was looking at reviews for this game because the stupid stuff people want amuses me, but I did see one good idea. The person asked for bags, or something to put on a horse so that you could carry things on your horse, Camel, or Mule. The player inventory is fairly sufficient, but I think that is still a good idea.

Nice Kaalus! Any new features for 1.29? A big request please, add the ability to tame and pet Wolves and Coyotes please! Also, add villagers or tribal people in the next update with generated structrures, I know you have added graves and traps to test generated structures, so add em next time! ;) or this time, if possible hehe…
    ALSO, A BIG REQUEST GUYS!!!
Y’all know the texture pack “Adouken”? It’s brilliant, my favorite! I have big request, can any of you send me link of it’s 1.28 version if it exists? Or any genius who can edit it when 1.29 comes out with the same textures? Thanks a lot and have a great day Survivalcrafters! :D

    • Posted January 4, 2016 at 14:47 | Permalink | Reply

My favourite texture was Bruno’s which has not been updated since 1.24. I like the high quality realistic texture packs. Currently I use HS Simple.

How do I edit texture packs. I would really like to try myself, but have not been able to find the texture files.

This is great! Now I can paint some of the larger stuctures I made! (Something I first compensated by blocks that were not too suitable at first, and did not have a proper color for the structure.)
It is also a good reason to go back to my older worlds!

Kaalus! Please Please Please add a horse egg that randomly selects horses with more colors. It’s hard with all the horses the same color! And saddles as well if you could, great job!

Kaalus, What about painting single face of block? Is it possible with new bit size? And one more request, Recipaedia is really confusing with other color variants of blocks/items, It takes too much time to scroll through all the items on phones, mainly clothes category (382 items). Could you leave there just basic version of items?

    • Posted January 7, 2016 at 22:26 | Permalink | Reply

Hi there. This has been handled before. Read the other comments if you have time. There are not enough bitsfor this. He has 16 colours (4 bits). a block has six sides. So to do this alone, it would need 24 bits and there are only 16 extra bits available. I have also mentioned the inventory, but yes it needs a tune-up. Kaalus has said that he removed the coloured blocks from the main inventory. The best way would be to paint a block and then place it in the user inventory, then you would not need to have such a huge inventory. Agree?

So you’ll need a colour chooser for a block or something like it.
