New combat mechanic

I have decided to quickly add a new combat mechanic to Survivalcraft – the melee weapons now have a probability to miss.

I think this should add more risk to attacking animals, because if you miss there is no pushback effect, and the animal will get you. Currently it’s too easy to use hit-and-run strategy.

This is an eleventh-hour change that I should not really be making at this point, but let’s be it :-)

MeleeHitProbability

Using this new value, I made axe an interesting weapon. It causes massive damage, bigger even than the machete, but has an abysmal hit ratio. Only one in four swings hits the target.

Will also the machete stop sounding like a punch?

WHY are you nmaking it harder to hit? WHY…if you want a challenge just put it on challenge mode.

Cool! Way more realistic now. I always wanted to have the axe as a well on because it’s twice as useful then. Chopping trees and as a reasonable weapon. Excited!

Distance is the key. Have a farther distance using the crossbow than the bow. Or shoot at an angle.

Anyway ontopic if we can miss with melee attacks why not make the player evade attacks too
Make it a small chance ofc to happen rarely

Challenge mode was already hard, now it’s made impossible. I die like very frequently due to lions, unless I go in creative and build myself a luxury mansion with diamond tools and weapons and electric traps and security. LOL though good combat mechanics. Now change the punch sound pls XD

What about a new mode where there will be prehistoric animals, ? Dinosaurs dragons :)
and a mordern mode, with vehicles, planes, choppers.
its obviously a lot of work, woyld take a year or more, but could it be possible in the future kaalus?

If I were Kaalus I would just make a new game and not mix the features with modes, etc. No offence.

also add an option for left-handed controls

Can you add that animals make mistakes when they attack you. Like a rhino in real life has bad eyesight and therefore might miss when charging at you in SurvivalCraft. (Yes I know I’m ignoring their strong since of smell.)

Awesome with that can you make arrows stick to the animals as well as spears

Kaalus. Here’s a thought. What if you added candles as a mobile light. The catch is that you can’t place them. Torches, campfires, etc are stationary, while a candle is mobile. Another catch is that you have to hold the candle to have light, not just have it in your inventory. Is it a good idea?

    • Posted March 31, 2015 at 00:10 | Permalink | Reply

Like a bowl with a candle inside

    • Posted March 31, 2015 at 00:10 | Permalink | Reply

It could be crafted using a torch and whatever material makes the bowl.

    • Posted March 31, 2015 at 00:49 | Permalink | Reply

      Is that a good idea?

      • Posted March 31, 2015 at 00:51 | Permalink | Reply

Or if you hold a torch or wicker lamp in your hand there is automatic light around you and a candle would not be needed.

  21. Posted March 31, 2015 at 00:22 | Permalink | Reply

Just a quick suggestion. Make a new mode called easy which is like challenging but easier. On easy you hit the target every hit, animals are less aggressive and have less health and you get cold slower.

Kaalus, I noticed that in the recipedia entry it said, “furniture.” Is it refering to makeshift stair couches or a future update? Hoping its the latter. :-)

True, but is a torch or wicker lamp really considered furniture? And he said furniture BEFORE he added all those things. So it is quite possible that he is planning something for the future. I just never noticed the wording before.

Got to tell you, I deleted Survivalcraft from my phone today. If the SC of today was the game I had demo’d…well, I wouldn’t have never bought it.

I get it; you’re trying to make your game separate from Minecraft. You’re trying to do your own thing. Great….but that thing of your own? That thing wasn’t what I bought. All these extra, realistic thingies are getting in the way of the thing that I actually enjoyed. When I tried out all the games…yours handled amazingly well (better then Minecraft PE, honestly), had some unique touches all of it’s own, and ran great! I spent hours on that thing, because that was the game I actually WANTED. If they were options to turn on or off all of these new little challenge add-on as the individual player wanted, that would be awesome. But that’s not the case. I feel sort of cheated here. I mean I got my time investment…so it’s not really bad. It’s just.

I bought “Cut the Rope”, and no matter how much stuff comes out for it or how many different games Zepto Lab comes out with? That game is STILL the same Cut the Rope. Maybe they came out with extra stuff, or they added new things…but the original content I bought still stands as it is. The same is true with just about every other game I’ve put real money into.

I just really wish you made these features optional, rather then a mandate.

The probability to miss was already there . Just don’t miss the animal

  26. Posted April 4, 2015 at 21:48 | Permalink | Reply

As me being me. I disapprove of this feature haha… Like you said “decided to add it quickly” I don’t think you thought this mechanic out thoroughly. I feel you added it just to add it. It’s gonna make attacks feel more like dice rolls . Please reconsider this feature kaalus . But if it appeals to the masses , keep it.
