The work on explosions is done. They are quite fun, see for yourselves:
I spent most of today playing with them instead of working on new features, couldn’t stop. One monster explosion I made as a test almost dug all the way to bedrock :-)
The major improvement is that the explosion algorithm is single pass, making it a lot faster than the previous one. I also made sure that one explosion can never be too large – the trick is to only explode nearby charges simultaneously. Charges which are too far away (more than 2 blocks) are treated as an independent explosion and executed in the next frame. If they are very far they might even fail to explode at all, and turn into projectiles. Projectiles explode only when they hit the terrain nearby, or your face if it’s not your day.
Another improvement is the explosion debris – destroyed pieces of terrain don’t just stay there, they fly away at tremendous speed thrashing any living thing unlucky to be nearby.
Yet another improvement is that the pressure propagation works properly. You can make a very long shaft from a strong material (e.g. iron blocks), explode even a small charge at one end and see the flames come out at the other, even if the distance is very large.
In general, the new explosions are much more deadly in tight spaces. When confined, they will propagate to every nook and cranny and scorch all that’s in their path.

I believe it a cannon for sure.. When the shot hits there will be a explosion, but I think he was working on a blast effect for the cannon shooting (explosion from the barrel) maybe a ring of smoke emitting from the barrel or a explosion not so circular in diameter or radius…. And I think the new explosion system could mean that the blocks just don’t disintegrate or convert into drop size blocks but perhaps full size blocks flying through the air…

kaalus where did you learn to right c++?
You can learn to code over internet. I study code. It can involve alot of math depending on what you’re coding. C++ is used to make alot of stuff. I know Kaalus uses C++ because he follows Bjarne Stroustrup( the creator of C++) on twitter. You can become an experienced coder by earning a college bachelors degree in it. There are so few coders because 1 out of every 10 high schools teach it so when people go to college they don’t care about code or they think its for computer geeks. Atleast that’s what I’ve learned. I personally like code. Did that help any?

I started Q-basic and continued to Visual Basic.
Now I started Android coding using Eclipse and this amazing app AIDE that allows to code straight on phone or tablet, just like a full blown program. If you can afford it I’d recommend. (has android, xml and java)
My school teaches computer programming… is that the same thing? I’ve always wanted to design games, rather than code them, so I have no idea. It does seem interesting, though.
If you would work at a company then designing and coding would be different things. But as a designer it would be good to now some about coding.
I see coding as playing with technical LEGO. If you like LEGO then you’ll probably will like coding too.
But you should ask you’re teachers about it and have yourself informed properly and help you decide with the direction you want to take. That’s what they are there for. :)

And did anyone else see the ammo for the crossbow? There are 3. A red tipped one, a normal one and a blue tipped one. Woah and do you get to make the cannon yourself? Like with iron blocks and a cannonball item that shoots out?
Maybe they are poison ammo! I emailed him after 1.24 about venomous snakes and poison fangs to make poison arrows. Also if you are bitten, your health will slowly go down.

Heya, back again with the game settler (dominating these comments) with my last 30 ideas + 10 ideas! Man, I really get a breakthrough on these ideas huh? Well, here ya go! :
1. To make it look awesome (Sorry, involves mythical beings) when you die in hardcore / cruel mode, get a cutscene of the character meeting the grim reaper, and that you have a choice of living or dying, if you chose to live, you will be given 2 chances, if you choose yes, everything will be reset, but the same, so you can find everything again, If you die the 2nd time, you’ll be revived for the last time, if you die the 3rd time, if you chose to live the last time, you will starve, get sleepy, and exhausted faster, and it will be harder to find food, if you die this time, that’s it, game over.
(Problem : children’s get scared.
Solution : make the grim from billy and mandy)
2. Add an actual goal of the game, to survive the lands, or travel back to the city, that’ll make it cool.
3. Add brass knuckles, or bagh nakhs, close range of 1 block, but hard hitting, you get the fangs from animals, the harder the fang, the harder it’ll hit, but bagh nakhs and brass knuckles will often miss, isn’t that awesome? A close range weapon, we also need some new ore to make it.
4. Meteor showers and Falling Stars, it’ll be hard to implement, but meteors explode and give new ore, while if you see a falling star, you’ll be given 3 random wishes, and a 50% chance of the wish being granted, if you find the star, your wish WILL be granted.
5. Boredness, if your character is bored, you cannot craft anything, to make you not bored, you can find activities, or read books, or an option to dance, that’ll make it realistic.
6. Sickness, if you stay in the rain too long, you’ll get sick and will be forced to skip a day or two, just for the fun.
7. Skills, you can only craft basic things, or have knowledge on how to mine a stone, But the more you craft, your skill goes up and craft more things, and if you mine more, you can mine more ores.
8. Radio / Recorder / Record Player, You can record your sound and edit it by raising / lowering your voice, so adventure players can hear instead of reading, good for maps
9. Crystals, Crystals Can be used to make furniture, or more advanced tools, and only crystal tools can mine Fossils.
10. Fossils, You Can Implement Fossils So You Can put it as decorations, or more importantly, discover new species of animals, not really, just for aesthetics.
11. Dreams, every night you dream, you can imagine things randomly, you have an option to disable or enable, you have 2 – 10 minutes to toy around with your dream, the power is yours.
12. Guardians, The more you are in this land, you discover that every person has guardians, and you must discover who is yours, They may guard you from harm, or harm you, so be careful.
13. The end of the world, if you fail to reach civilization by a time limit (random), the world will end, and you may end up in heaven or hell based on your actions.
(Problem : may scare people, most people don’t believe in apocalypse’s.
Solution : option to turn it on / off.)
14. Shelves for your books to read can only be used to store books, if you put books into chest, it may break, shelves will not break books.
15. Art, you can import pictures from your device so you can view them even while playing SC, it is a good implementation, so think of it.
16. Types Of Self Defense, you chose from the start what self defense you chose (weaponless), like Kung-fu, or karate, or anything, each have different abilities, so chose wisely.
17. King Of The Land, You may find cities rarely, these cities are always bad, but there is also a king, if you beat the king, you may get some treasure, a boss type of thing.
(Problem : Player may inhabit cities.
Solution : After the king is dead, 1-5 minutes till explosion, you can’t enter the houses, you can’t mine things)
18. Support Pillars, your cave has got to someday crumble, so support pillars will prevent that, rather than having a plain thing, support pillars support 10 blocks wide worth of blocks, applies to stone only.
19. Ghosts, your character will be scared when he sees them, if he’s too scared, he may die, you cannot kill ghosts, and it may be an illusion.
(Problem : Scare
Solution : option to turn on / off ghosts)
20. You Need a Source Of Electricity! You Need To use sources, the switch itself cannot turn the lamp on, get oil for a source, or solar panels, and no batteries are THAT Huge, so replace them with solar panels, fuel, oil, lightning rods, windmills, water mills, lava converter, Fire Furnaces, motor generators, or coal furnaces to generate electricity, in reality, nothing turns on just by a switch.
21. More swords, a machete won’t cut it (get it?), we may craft more, like cutlass, dagger, katana, or maybe, a buster sword (FFVII)
22. Potions, not fake, magical, game ones, potions used in real life, the ones that actually exists, you may make a lab (mini lab) with test tubes, and flasks, there is a crafting menu, you can insert liquids and items to make your potion!
Ex :
Insert Liquid + herbs = healing potion.
By healing, I don’t mean insta-heal, it fastens the process of healing.
23. Ancient items, you may find these rarely while digging, and in graveyards, while digging, you may find vases and all that, mean while in graveyards, you could find an excalibur, or armor, or anything really, that’ll make it interesting.
24. Crosswires, to those electric map builders, are you ever annoyed that you can’t place two wires in a row, without them connecting? Well with cross wires, you can! My system : you have up to 10 Cross wires, different colors, which normal wires can connect to anything, while colored ones can’t, the first wire you place will be on the surface, while the second one, over lapping the first one, make sense?
25. Shields, everyone needs it, without it, defense is nothing! Well, it’s really vital when it comes to fighting, and perfect for maps as well!
26. Fruit trees, c’mon, you don’t even have an apple! Fruits are, nutritious? But fruit trees, everyone probably wants it to happen, plus, you can grow them near your house, which is useful.
27. Code Locks / PIN Lock, would be a more simpler way of. making codes without the truth table circuit, it would be simple enough to enter the codes 296145 / 4948 rather than having complex switches everywhere, this would make adventure map making more easier.
28. Vehicles, not advanced ones, just simple ones, like a basic Skate board, or bikes.
29. Poison, some food must be poisonous, especially raw ones, if you get poisoned, herbs are the way to go.
30. Hurricanes / earthquake, if you do, earthquakes are easier to make, it’ll destroy some buildings.
31. Other survivors, ever played lost in blue 3? In the lost in blue 1 / 2, there’s only the male, and the female, in lost in blue 3, there is a few more people, with a good story of another person looking like the main protagonist, who the other one is the antagonist, and the other guy is hunting him, which he thinks protagonist you is him, nice story, you should play it, anyways, other survivors would be nice, he / she could follow you and help on certain things / stay at home and cook instead!
32. Marriage, following the last idea, even though pointless……..marriage! Well, without other survivors, he’s gonna make even a COCONUT as a friend! (Suddenly remember portal? Watch Game Theories’ portal companion cube’s dark secret! By mattpatt), you can make a ring with a few irons, plus any ore you would like (linking the crystals idea).
33. Tombs / temples, no island has ever been always deserted, thus, tombs and temples! There may be treasure, or you could just find traps everywhere………
34. Ocarina, suddenly remembering zelda’s ocarina of time, I became interested in them, what if, SC had songs, when if played on the ocarina, would do certain effects, like, increasing stamina, or putting animals to sleep!
35. In Depth storyline, maybe a flashback of Gavin’s life (the character I decided to name gavin, know what he’s referenced off?), or maybe, gavin’s mother or fathers soul in the island, but it’d be more RPG huh?
36. More tree’s, hey, those 3 trees aren’t really going to Grow the game’s popularity here (another bad pun), but, with more tree’s, comes more possibilities of buildings, which is why……adding some baobab tree’s, macalania trees, or anything, would be good.
37. Wind Chime’s, it would be a nice addition for decoration, plus a good summer feature, it’s voice is also calming though.
38. hailstorms, some of this weather would surely be nice for the christmas addition, as hailstorms, would actually harm you, than the regular thing
39. Sushi! Really a fan of this seafood delight, this is a need!!! I really love japan and its culture, I would be grateful if you added this delicious, and tasty food in the game.

Alot of those ideas are awesome, but alot of those ideas are ridiculous no offense. The Grim Reaper from a 1990’s cartoon show in survivalcraft? Most people would not like that. Also it would be unfair if you in survival and an earthquake destroys your items you worked hard for disappear. If there was a city you can return to that would ruin the entire point of the game; the game can’t just end, then you’d just be repeating each time you play. Instead, just stick with the common idea of villages far out in the world, or small village island towns. I like your other ideas though. :-)
One more good idea name character ( mine would be raymond (dream name)) and hunting techniques like you have to quietly sneak up on birds or you have to flank them

Not to be mean but depending on what kind of christian you are (Catholic, Protestant, etc) you should believe in the end of the world. Have you even read the Book of Revelations (Apocalypse)? Would you not call the point where the four horsemen: War, Pestilence, Famine, and Death come to earth the end of the world? If you are a Christian, certainly you have heard of this and/or know what I’m talking about.

I was wondering if there would be anymore block updates in 1.26? I’m itching to get some more building materials and haven’t touched my texture pack in awhile be good to get to work on it again.
I have suggested walls before as they are a great building block to work with and can be used in a variety of ways.

I have found a bug/glitch I can mine anything with my bare hands it’s slow but it drops so you don’t need a pick :)
In all modes except Adventure-mode you can mine with barehands. :)
To mine Diamonds and, not sure I believe it was Germanium and/or malachite ore, you do require an Iron or higher level pickaxe or you lose the resources. – -a (not sure anymore though)
No, really, only diamonds are un-mineable using your hands, you can pretty much abuse this

Or give blocks/items properties (events) when shot.
Just to name some few interesting materials and or blocks: snowballs, Ice, Buckets with water/lava/paint , Sandblocks, gravel, stones, sticks, leaves, flowers(?), (Spawn-)eggs, animals, yourself :), matches, kegs.
Looking forward to some bug testing soon. :p

Kaalus got the idea of Survivalcraft from Minecraft! I saw it in an old interview. And i said GOT the idea, not COPY. So, really, without Minecraft, Survivalcraft might not exist. So even though Mojang somtimes copies Kaalus, that doesnt mean “Oh i hate Mojang, they coinsadecaly (didnt spell that right) came up with horses at the same time as us, big deal” plus, im a huge Minecrafter. I still LOVE Survivalcraft, though. So please, stop the hate?
mojang copied the idea of horses and coal blocks from kaalus but mcpc version is great but survivalcraft is getting close to it

Here is my idea for 1.25. Armor,deadly birds ex.eagles, minecart with rails, more crops, villagers with villages, more foods, tamed wolf and the others
GREAT IDEAS! BUT THIS IS TOO MUCH FOR KAALUS IN A SINGLE UPDATE HE SHOULD ADD ATLEAST THE ABILITY TO TAME WOLVES IT’S THE FEATURE I LIKE THE BEST AFTER VILLAGERS SO PLEASE KAALUS TAMING WOLVES!!!

Add fishing rods and more uses for string. And reduce the durability of the bow…
Also add flaming arrows that obviously sets animals (and/or blocks) on fire. And it has flaming animation when loaded.

Guys, we can’t tame wolves. I already banned them. When the cannons come, I’ll build a huge base with cannons a traps, EVERYWHERE. I’ll be the anti-wolf association. Anyone I catch with a wolf in their possession, will be executed. He should make a rare, dog animal. That you tame by feeding it porkchops at least once for 4 days, until it gains your trust, because in real life, dogs, don’t just be friendly after one day of feeding. Coyotes might do. We like them.
Kaalus, I think a new block for explosives is rock vapor I mean debris was a little strong but now let’s get to BIG MAMA. Also to make rock vapor possible asteroids will hit earth and if they are 100 to 200 blocks big they will make rock vapor spread across the globe and eventulay engulfing the world for 10 survivalcraft days. The oceans will evaporate and rain will turn into acid. If you want to survive you need a bunker about 20 blocks above bedrock.After 10 days the oceans will refill and O2 will fill the atmosphere.the chance of an asteroid like this will happen every 67 survival craft days. I’m not sure if devices can handle this but try it. SO FUN
The only problem is waht do you actually do when stuck in an underground bunker? Mine? I think that’s too powerful.
No hate please, I was thinking about new enemies, but rare occurrence. What if you added paranormal enemies, but only attack when you disturb them? Add temples and burial mounds with loot inside, and very rarlely when you loot these places, will they attack you. Or what about a slenderman LIKE enemy, he would be more of a demon that stalks you and trys to kill you by setting traps?
Funny you said that, I am actually trying to make a slenderman mob mod, same as the guy who made the tribal mod (not done yet), I’m pretty sure he’s going to be scary, and I’m trying to figure out how to mess with mob behavior, haven’t tested it yet, but I will, sooner or later……………

You can’t, there are no mods, but, the community is trying to find and gather information on how to mod, I’m still fiddling with it to find out how to mess with mob AI….

I think you can make it much more awsome if you make the “debris” in the “same size” like nomally blocks and then when it blow up to the sky it’s very very cool. And last request pleaseeeeee add fishing rod or be my company. (and finally sorry for my englishl T_T)
