1.23 Release Wrapup

As you probably noticed (or saw my tweet), iOS version of 1.23 was accepted by Apple and hit the Appstore yesterday.

This pretty much concludes the ever more lengthy release process. Not quite though – the version available for Android is still a little bit older, as it hasn’t got all the newest bugfixes that other platforms got. I am amending this at this very moment – 1.23.3 should be downloadable from Google Play in a couple of hours at the most.

What next?

I am already at work on 1.24. So far no announcements to make, but it won’t have many new electrics in it, if you are worried about that. I have a fairly well outlined plan what I want to include. It’s just the case of finding out what works best and what doesn’t. You know, I’d hate to promise you anything and then have to drop it :-)

  • Reduced hit reach from 5 to 2 meters, making combat more realistic and difficult
  • Reduced hit frequency from 2 to 1.5/s
  • Player starts with 55% food, not 100% in challenging
  • Made rye drop more seeds
  • Added ability to define block type of flat terrain
  • Added ability to have magma ocean in flat terrain
  • Modification time displayed in Dropbox/SDCard contents view
  • Added analog electric signals
  • Added motion detector electric device
  • Added 4-led electric device
  • Added 7-segment display electric device
  • Added sound generator electric device
  • Added analog-to-digital converter electric device
  • Added digital-to-analog converter electric device
  • Added 4-bit counter electric device
  • Added memory bank electric device
  • Added truth table electric device
  • Added new UI for editing certain items (memory banks, batteries etc.)
  • Made pressure plates emit analog signal indicating weight
  • Made battery voltage editable
  • Many changes to creative inventory. E.g. can drop items from it.
  • Cleaned up recipes for all electric elements to make them more consistent
  • Made thermometer and hygrometer output analog electric signals
  • Updated models of all electric gates to be more consistent
  • Updated all existing electric devices to work properly with analog signals
  • Added a way to see user ID
  • General optimizations

    The additional view-distance options cause the game to crash almost immediately on my Lumia 920.

    The game says 512mb is recommended, the Lumia 920 has 1GB. What gives?

      I have the exactly same problem on same phone. Also when I lower the viewing distance it automatically goes back to the highest point when I next time start game.

    Kaalus, I have an idea for you.
    Add the password function on the worlds, it was impossible to change the gamemode, and other information about the world without a password

    Hey Kaalus
    I have an great Idea ;)
    Why don’t you add mini block’s to the world of survivalcraft? You know mini blocks that you can place every where you want. If you would add them, we could make really good locking worlds. We would be able to create furniture and other cool stuff with mini blocks! :)
    Think about it kaalus! :)

    If you’re not able to imagine what I mean with this, go to youtube and type in mini blocks mod for minecraft. You will see then :)
    It’s just an Idea, I’m not drying to to convince you to do it :)

    Whoa look at all new stuff kaalus added… And people are thinking 0.8.0 will be huge
    What 0.8.0 will bring: Bugfixes, pumpkis, more bugfixes, compass (why? How can someone get lost in mcpe?), more bugfixes, watch, more bugfixes, caves (will be smaller then sc ones u.u), more bugfixes, carpet (so useful…), more bugfixes, minecarts (at least one thing useful!), more bug fixes, cloud 3D (sc clouds are better u.u), more bug fixes
    After 0.8.0 they will release 20 updates with more bugfixes! Good job mojang!

      Theyre getting infinite worlds dude. That’s how pe players will get lost. Also villages and jungle and swamps biomes.

        inf. worlds won’t be coming until after 0.9.0 and that’s in another 8 months to a year from now and caves won’t be coming until then either so yeah….SC is better

    Kaalus,in 1.24,i want two things so far
    (1) Animated leaves and grass. Watching the leaves and grass sway back and forth makes everything seem so peaceful……(even though its not :-) )
    (2) You can go through leaves. Leaves arent solid,they’re flexible.

    I keep on having a glitch. Occasionally when I place a stair a whole appears. It is very annoying.

    Kaalus! I need you to fix something!
    I’m on an iPod 4th gen. and I have settings on low and I don’t have far distance,but when I play for a few minutes,it crashes!!Please fix it! I was so excited for the update but when this ocuured,I was so mad!!! Kaalus,I really need you to fix this. Please!

      I’m getting constant freezing up… About 10 times so far….Then after 15~20 seconds of the game being locked up the game closes down. I get massive slow down when I come across large forests, but that’s on the experimental distance setting… It works ok a step down from that.

    I think you forgot about the pumpkin seeds. You added seeds for everything,except for pumpkins. Oh one more thing,tall grass should not be growing in large amounts in snow biomes,since it makes the biome look ugly. And make islands more bigger.

    I know you have your own idea of what could be coming next, but maybe letting the community decode would be nice. sometimes developers lose themselves. Any who, for the next update, you could labor improve the environment. one minute your in a desert, in the next your in a snow covered area. how spurs that make sense? more biomes like rivers, jungles, etc would be nice as well as disasters like forest fires, hurricanes, and stuff. more monsters, honestly survival is boring. bears, lions and coyotes aren’t scary. the only thing you need to be worried about are the were wolves. how about zombies, Bigfoot, cannibalistic human creatures, vampires and the like of that. this game night be considered realistic, but that lost legitimacy with the werewolves and terrible terrain changes.

    Personalities is what we need. Cannibals and villagers. I think we have enough animals, they just aren’t the same, and its becoming a Zoo meme. I’d like to survive encounters with hostile natives on 2 feet, and I don’t mean ostriches ;)

      Nope we need flying animals, pets (parrot, cats and dogs), and villagers will come, kaalus is already working with generated structure, soon we will find villages and when villages come npcs will come too

    Hey Kaalus! Please replace the froyo ui used on editing text with holo 4.4 KitKat ui on 1.24! Also, you should make an overhaul to the app’s home page for KITKAT USERS ONLY, so the Android 4.4 users will see community content first rather than personal content. Thanks!

    Just wanted to add in ‘Feature Request’ for if building were going to be pre-generated if they could be exotic buildings/ruins like stonehenge, Inca or Maya tempels, excavations on mountain sides.

    And :) underwater cave systems with air-pockets. There are cave with water in them, but not underwater.

    And, to all in general, check out my MusicToDancia.scworldfile published in user content.
    Creative use of Motion-detectors and Sound-generator.
    Make music while moving/dancing!! :)

    Hey Kaalus, I was wondering if you could make the attack range optional. When you reduced it from 5 to 2 it made a lot of my maps unplayable. Could you please fix this? This 2 block attack range is really pushing it.

    For 1.24 you should make the saddles come off the horses and donkeys so you can use them on other animals since you can only get leather from bears I have a hard time finding bears therefore I can’t make saddles for my horses also carts that you can hook horses up to and make a hard to find material that is used to make the stuff to attach the horse to the cart and adding a fence that no animals can escape from I’ve had problems with my donkey and camel escaping and I think that should be fixed.       @kyler LOL I did the same thing and caught it on video for my Rivertown series, Iits in one of the episodes…I was walking backwards baiting a bull and suddenly BAM all went yellow and red. Oh ya I was testing hit points hack so I didn’t die. The bull jumped in on top of me, surprised I lived.
