Since day one Survivalcraft had a large handicap compared to PC block games. Because it was designed to run on a 1st gen Windows Phone, there were a lot of compromises to get acceptable performance. One of the biggest was small visibility range.
Because of heavy optimizations, I could not even add an option to increase it on faster devices without making everything slower.
Here’s good news. This is changing in 1.23. I found a way to allow you to increase visibility range on high-end devices without making the game slower on low-end ones.

I think increasing the visibility range is a massive step forward for the game. Some of you may not fully agree and would prefer to get a new feature instead. But think: more visibility improves all the existing features. It adds more immersion. Seeing these far off mountain peaks and lakes makes you want to go there and explore.
Foggy 1.22 (top) vs long vistas in 1.23 (bottom)
Creative mode folks should be even more happy. Ever built a Titanic or a Star Wars Imperial Destroyer and could not see all of it? Just wait for 1.23.
In 1.22 visibility range is not even enough to see from the top of a mountain to the bottom of a deep pit. In 1.23 you will easily be able to see full vertical extent of the world.
Of course, this comes at a cost. A fast phone or tablet is recommended for higher settings. If you have an iPod Touch 4G or the first Galaxy S, don’t expect miracles :-)

Kaalus, when you say “dont expect big miracles on ipod 4g”, do you mean that putting up just a little will make it slow, or that you can put it up to forexample 1,5x?
Kaalus, one thing that this game could use is more ores, more tree types (some that will give fruit),

Yes trees are Ginko, Juniper, Joshua, Bukkit, Banana, Maple & Palm. Maple will give maple, throwable but useless. Ginko will drop ginko, Joshua (don’t drop anything) Juniper (don’t drop anything) and Palm, which will give cocunuts.
Ores: Sapphire, Copper, Iron, Gold, Silver, & Flint. Flint is the worst material and the game and all of them can be used to make blocks. WARNING: The Flint block can be destroyed by werewolves at Full moon & new moon!! :O

just watched the video. the comment about the nexus really surprised me. as stated in my last post, I run some very high realistic graphics (reflection and realistic water physics ect.) games like shadowgun HD for example that are made exclusively for tegra3 quad core processors and never had so much as a hiccup of lag.
I guess maybe it doesn’t have as much to do with graphics handling capabilities as it does sheer ram size perhaps. Although it’s got an excellent processor and a good graphics chip I think the nexus7 only has 1gb ram.

1.22 and lower sight range looks unnatural, because in a plane you can see the ground, whereas in SC if you were that high all you would see is fog, blue, clouds, stuff along those lines.

The new Nexus 7 (2013) has a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon™ S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM. Will it be able to handle 3x distance?
Unfortunately, I still have the old 2012 model. Tablet gaming is as bad as PC gaming…endless upgrades to keep up with the latest requirements.

Hey Kaalus…I’m not expecting this in 1.23 but could you make animals interact with others?Like you could be out hunting and see a bear attacking a gnu or a wolf facing a duck…it doesn’t really effect the player…but it would be a really cool feature to have in the game…also…could you add some Indians that live in little villages spread around the entire map…and you can trade stuff with them…BUT the way they act towards you would be on how you act towards you in that specific world (If you add this please renew their thought of you everytime you open up a new world) ke they would either help you out if you’re hungry or if you attack one of them…they might attack/burn your house or maybe even hunt you down also if you add this could you make them have a horn so you know when theyre coming for you…if you’ve taken the time to read this all please Kaalus respond

Minecraft pe 0.8.0 is getting minecarts, dogs, and villages. Minecraft 0.9.0 is getting swamp, jungles, nether and enderman. Minecraft pe is getting better and better. :( This is a bad thing for survivalcraft and more people are starting to play minecraft pe. Maybe kaalus can get more players if he adds features people who haven’t played yet will like. Swamps,other people stranded,dogs, and multiplayer are features players would want. Here is a secret. I only bought sc because I thought it had multiplayer so I can play with my friends! :D Next year minecraft pe will have infinite worlds, dogs, jungles, swamps, villagers and minecarts. So it will basically be like minecraft pc. So I think that before minecraft pe gets all those things survivalcraft will need multiplayer. Also someone guessed the resturant right on my blog.

Kaalus should implement a crawling mode to go through 1×1 block spaces. And a sit mode and lie down mode, if you lie down for long enough you fall asleep. Also the ability to craft oars for the boats to go faster.

Pc and xbox mc were infinite after survivalcraft was infinite. Just not pocket edition. :D Pc was infinite for a while now. :)

Hey Kaalus, do you think you could add Random Chests with items in it? and Some Horse Armor and armor would be sweet. I think it’d be awesome to breed animals, and their should be more horse colors like… Appaloosas, Paints, and Zebras would be cool to ride, I don’t mean for you to add everything, just a Suggestion =)
