I have just uploaded 1.22 to Google Play. It should become available in a couple of hours.
The focus of this release is Survival! It’s high time…
Here’s the short changelist:
- Added rakes, farming, seeds, rye, wild rye
- Added flour, dough and bread
- Added hunger, stamina, sleep deprivation, drowning
- Added rhinos, gnus, lions, ostriches, zebras, orcas
- Bulls & cows models updated
- More overhangs and funky shapes of mountains
- Added islands far out in the ocean
- Added boats
- Added creatures pathfinding (i.e. clever AI)
- Made creatures go after food
- Can boil eggs in water
- Added vital stats panel
- Items now stay much longer in the world
- Made bricks, granite, basalt paintable
- Improved split touch controls
- Added magnets that influence compass

I have explained why I initially publish only to Google Play at least 5 times. I still get told off by people demanding that their platform has to come first. So here it goes again:
Google Play does not have certification/review process. It means I can release bugfixes within hours. Google Play guys get the update first, but the price they pay is that they are effectively beta testers for a few days. I did a couple of days of testing myself, but with such a large game it is inevitable that I will miss things. They will find them – at the moment there’s well over a million active users on Android. I will fix and update. They will find more.
When this process is complete, I will publish a more stable and polished update to the remaining platforms, which require a week or so certification for every binary I submit.
Last time it took 4 days (and as many iterations) from first release on Google Play until I published to the remaining platforms.
Please read the above, do not scream at me or flood my inbox with questions about when does it come out for Kindle. And beware of the rhino :-)

Block texture has been updated to 1.22 in Files/Technical section. If you have a blocks texture published to community content, please update to incorporate 1.22 changes, they are fairly big.

It’s in Google’s hands now. I know from experience with my app that it can take them up to 24 hours for it to go through their system.

not to sound mean but the boats seem to go way to slow….I mean it seems that I can swim just as fast as I can move in a boat just I don’t get protection. so it seems to be that the boat only serves as protection from the animalsnin the sea :-( kaalus please at least put in oars so we can go faster because otherwise it would be pointless to use a boat other than for protection. other than that great job on the update. :-)

Read the text of the Blog… Apple, Microsoft and Amazon (Kindle) take a minimum of a week to approve new additions and upgrades to existing apps before making them public. Only those with access to “pure” Android systems will see 1.22 today or even most likely this week. If this is a problem don’t Hassle Kaalus, he doesn’t set appstore policy. Talk to Apple, Microsoft or Amazon, depending on your device.

Since I’m a beta tester, i don’t have orca eggs and every once in a while i can move and go to inventory but i can’t look so id be hanging in the air moving back and forth with mai head down :/
Also, we can’t throw foods/items like we are supposed to. I can compile an email for you listing what isn’t working/ is missing if you like.

Yeah, there are no fish in the ocean, I made a new world today in the 1.22 update, only seagulls were in the ocean, no fish and islands
I’ve found plenty of islands…when Kaalus said they are far out at sea he really meant it…I use the bottom of the ocean to tell if I’m getting close to land (For instance if the bottom is coming up in a mountain form…land shouldn’t be far just keep searching!)

Kaalus these are the bugs: orca spawn egg missing, islands missing weird water texture when you go under, no fishes spawn, (maybe not bug) turbulence affect terrain not appearing a lot, sometimes cows dont get food. Ill wait for 1.22.1 to tell you what bugs are there and still left.
the only bug is orca spawn egg missing the no fish spawning in static, also cows. but the islands are rare ahd also the turbelence

Great that the update has come :) and for the pplz who are asking for the orca spawn egg,check the video of it posted by kaalus,he said that they will be rare like the white bull,so no spawn egg and mostly better chance to find em in survival modes,very great features but the boat seems to go too slow,I agree that it should be a little faster and more sturdier like what a boat should be,all in all great work ^^

Hey great update I am just one issue so far. Fences do not hold animals back anymore, and the player can not jump over them any more. Please fix this as I want to herd animals again.
Also I found that wolves do not drop anything, I will keep looking and report back.

Okay this is gonna be quite a handful so I’ll start off by saying thank you for all you’ve done and this is not a demand please don’t take it like that…But I think it would be awesome to have a tribe of Hostile Indians that you might run into while out hunting and stuff like that…I would love that and you can buy food or something and basically the way they act towards you would all depend on your first impression…as an owner of Survival Craft since 2011…I think its time our hero gets a couple friends…or enemies ;)

Ok so I followed josh’s “recommendations” and I went wayyyyy out in the ocean and found a group of islands, thanks josh and thanks THE GOD OF PIXELS, I found some turbulence-affected mountains, I hate the fish gone bug, hopefully theres a spawn egg for orcas and hopefully kaalus will add the white bull spawn egg. ! Im still testing 1.22, only 2 medium bugs to fix, 1 if the orca is just like the white bull, no spawn egg, the bug that is really bothers me is the fish gone bug.
haven’t gotten the update yet. those bugs must suck.

The pathfinder isn’t working. I built my own maze like kaalus but none of the five wolves went after any of the raw meat!!!

1. Fish despawn and only spawn from eggs.
2. If you breack a planted flower you get a full flower
3. Sometimes the look function does not work and you ca not look around only move.

Found another bug. In creative mode you always are missing one bar from your food meter.
Also I don’t know if this is a bug but no animals spawn without spawn egs on islands.
I am not here to yell at you. Im just going to explain my feelings, i do understand that there are good and bad reasons that you send survivalcraft to google play first for one thing its actualy great that even though they get it first they’er also the firt to get the bugs. But also for your fans sake i would try sending the game to two differant plaforms so then you can not only get some feed back you would get alot. It would also be easier for us (fans) then your process would work faster so more people at a time. You would also get things done quicker for you. Well any way its just a suggestion.

Ok so the animal jumping fences bug is not real, but the you can’t jump fences bug is, I tried running from a distance and I couldn’t jump over it, but when im really close to it I can, also pathfinding is glichy, I made a maze, I trew a raw bird at mr wolf and he took some wrong turns, but when he got there, he apparently tried to eat it, but he kept running in, circles around it, and after he finally ate it, he wouldn’t eat anymore, maybe hes stuffed?

LOVE THE UPDATE!!!! Well done Kaalus on adding the biggest details I’ve been waiting for. Ever think about adding some sort of mechanism for elevators? Allowing quicker ascension would be cool and helpful. How about a new projectile weapon to rival the bow and arrow?
When i found this island in the.middle of nowhere i was surprised to find an underground cave with no entrance and a random lion that spawned in a tree…he died when i accidentally pushed him off

I believe that I have found a bug. In flying mode, looking at the ground and going up into the atmosphere in reverse, after a short time you die. can anyone test this please and report back?

Wait has 1.22.0 come out on kindle yet mine says I have the latest version 1.21.4
Just one issue bugs me… the farming seems pointless. Rye gives one seed, and plant that one seed, you now have none. I’d also love to plant pumpkins. Just the seed is all it takes for farming to kick me off. :-)

Plz add paints that make stuff turn normal like painted wood into wood planks painted basalt into basalt painted bricks into bricks etc in the next update i hate having to destroy (or burn) everything because its painted also make it so everything isnt slippery because its annoying

Hey kaalus you should add stuff like rail tracks for like minecart so we could move supplies and stuff and make the carts connectable and add tracks that are powered so can give you a boost and add furniture and stuff like that and make the werewolves go after meat and make the lions, wovles, and werewolves go after other animals
And add multiplayer also
Hey kaalus make a plant or animal that you can get string from it and you can put multiple strings in the crafting table and make rope and make bow and arrows and make it where you can attach the rope to the arrows and you can shoot them and make boards that you put on the rope and make a bridge
