I think I will push 1.22.0 out on Google Play tomorrow.
In the meantime, I have been testing the game and, surprise, surprise, tweaking terrain generation. This usually takes insane amounts of time, but yesterday I hit a real gem – I managed to increase the amount of turbulence in the terrain with very little performance cost and with very little artifacts.
For those of you who don’t know, turbulence is responsible for generating funky overhanging cliffs, Rio-like mountains, and generally most of the interesting spectacular terrain. Here’s a video on how it will look like in 1.22:
If you’ve watched the video, you must have seen that. In 1.22 there are islands far out in the ocean. Can’t reach that without a boat.

Terrain will be regenerated on a plot (16*16) if the plot in question has been untouched, Therefore, any ‘column’ that you have adjusted and the 7 blocks around it in the four directions that intersect at that point that have not been touched will be regenerated.

Ah, yes. Terrain generation, my favorite aspect of the game. After all it is what makes survivalcraft what it is today. Very nicely done Kaalus, keep up the good work!

is kaalus going to make the boats a little faster? because as I watched the videos it seemed to me that u can swim just as fast as u can move in a boat.
Well, you don’t move way faster in a boat in comparaison with swimming.
However, with new game mechanics, you can’t swim very long before drowning, so you need if for long trips.
Im extremely excited about this update. in the future will the texture packs change the look of everything though? like the weapons and animals?
And the point of the boats isnt to make you go faster its to make it to where you dont get exhausted while swimming and downed…

I feel that the next update should focus on health and protection, just think about how many times you killed yourself by riding into a tree, or how you lost your world on cruel from a stupid fall, and with animals being more dangerous and viscous we should have more health and definitely armor as a way to protect our selves from stupid inconveniences.

Are there lakes or ponds at different eleavations in this update. I like to set up camp higher in the mountians and it sucks to have to run back and forth for water.
Ive been having this idea which I think would be really cool. Instead of armor add shields instead or a companion such as monkeys or dogs. Since this new update adds more danger theses things may be able to help.

There are 24hrs in a day… Regardless of whether or not you want to wait; you will. You have no choice lol… Just be happy knowing this game has a dev who does constant updates…. I’d wait a year if necessary just to know it runs smooth. That being said ; I am so fidgety and excited waiting for this lol

Wonderful that there are islands now, and odd looking ones at that. But now here comes the one thing that has been bugging me. If we don’t have multi-player, can we have some NCPs running around? You know, just so we don’t go nuts on how empty the world is besides animals? I think just seeing people run about once in awhile would make me feel better, even if I can’t be friends with them. Also, who wants to have berries or fruit trees in SC?
