The final survival mechanic for 1.22 will be hunger. This is in addition to stamina and need to sleep, which you saw in the earlier posts.
I haven’t made a video today, because there’s nothing visual to show. Instead, here’s how hunger works in 7 bullet points:
- Food no longer restores health; health restores slowly on its own
- When you don’t eat for about a day, you will get a message saying you are getting hungry
- The messages will get more frequent and alarming the more hungry you get over the next day
- After about two days without food, you’ll start to slowly lose health
- When you eat, a message will tell you whether you want more, or are stuffed (in which case you will not be able to eat any more)
- Jumping, fighting and digging speeds up the need for food, but not by too much
- You need to be well fed for the health to restore. If you’re hungry, it will not.
In addition to that, I am thinking of forcing the player to eat a balanced diet. I.e. if you only eat eggs, eventually (after a long time) something bad will start happening and you’ll have to get some other type of food. I haven’t decided on it yet. If you have any ideas, please let me know.
To balance out hunger, I also want to introduce a new, large game mechanic. I have thought about it for some time, and have a rough idea where to start. It’s big and a lot of people ask for it. For now I want to keep it secret, in case it does not work out.

I like the hunger stuff to except for the well rounded diet I don’t like that idea and kaalus should add severe weather like tornadoes, whirlpools, and floods.

Hey Kaalus that’s really cool. But can you please make these 7 things. I’m not trying to sound bossy or any thing, it’s just that I’ve been waiting on you to eventually create them. Here they are,
●1st Please make Multiplayer
●2nd Please make some sort of railroad system sort of like in Minecraft PC
●3rd Please make boats that can be rowed or have a moter that can move sort of like an animal without a mind. Also make it have an anchor for out at sea so you can sleep on it
●4th Please make a fishing pole that requires a hook and bait, to make it more challenging on survival mode. You know so you can actually eat the fish.
●5th Please make it so you can spawn a certain number of animals per said block(s) not the whole game.
●6th Please make furniture. example:a bed, a couch a night stand, ext…
●7th please make light bulbs that have a battery in them but look the same as a reg. light bulb.
Kaalus, don’t take this the wrong way but these are just a few suggestions on what a lot of my friends, other veiwers, and I would like to add to tje awsome game of survivalcraft.

You can’t change any textures or models they are all encrypted,Trust me I’ve tried, Even if u change some of the encrypted files to a skin or something the games crashes or it makes everything invisible when u load a world… So stop trying cuz it won’t work.. BTW I am rooted and I spent at least a week trying to change the textures/models
U are wrong mate. all textures are in .xnb files which u can export to .png format, edit them and copy back without converting to .xnb again. It works. 3d models the same, u can change them.

I think the balanced meal idea is good too. Have a little faith in kaalus guys. He hasnt steered us wrong yet. He knows what he’s doing and he wont do it unless he can make it tie in well. Im sure he doesnt mean you have to eat from all five food groups each meal. He just means that you wouldn’t want to eat just eggs or just beef for every meal forever. You would have to switch it up.
I think its interesting and a good idea. Its refered to as “rabbit fever”? Most cases are in people who have been lost in the woods or another survival situation and have only eaten from one food source for a long time. Its a loose term used for this condition no matter what you were actually eating, but its called rabbit fever because in many cases rabbit is the diet. When you are eating only rabbit meat you eventually get sick because with rabbits you arent getting any fats because they are so lean. (speaking of which…. maybe rabbits to trap would be a good new critter in the update?) ;-D

I think the balanced diet is a great idea too. Just make a spear or machette and go kill some fish, cows, etc. Plus if there is farming you’ll have possible fruits and veggies. Not too hard. The only problem I forsee is if you spend a great deal of time in mines you’ll have to carry a few different types of food and there isn’t a lot of room in inventory as it is. You’ll have to build chests even more than now. The way to fix this would be to make a backpack out of leather so that you could hold more on your person. You’ll also add the element of more risk as a person carrying a bunch of valuables in a backpack would really have to be wary of pedators!
This is going to be actual fun in challenging, Im just building stuff in creative. To easy in challenging. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!
Maybe,if u eat eggs 4 so long,or raw meat,u can catch a disease. Your health will.go down a little 4 the first day or so. Then after about a week,your health will rapidly go down, killing u in about 2 minutes. Of u eat a more balanced meal,or tall grass,u have a greater chance of being cured! I think this is realistic,so it’s a good idea. If u like,please reply! :-)

As punishment for not eating a balanced diet, what if the player experienced vision problems? Not blackouts as that has already been used, but instead “holes” in one’s vision that take up a small portion of the display (represented by black circles that can steadily grow larger and vary in their placement). The black circles would only go away after eating something different. This way, the black circles wouldn’t have to affect the gameplay too much at first, giving the player ample time to secure a different food source. And/or, eating the same food again and again could decrease the amount that particular food satisfies the player’s hunger.
I love the vision idea! I think this could work! It wouldnt be too critical but would be something yoy would want to take care of before it got too bad.

I just had a flash of inspiration! Kaalus, you should totally add diseases. If you don’t find away to cool your fever, eventually you’ll die. And if your person vomits, you will become as hungry as if another five hours had gone by without you eating. Maybe you’re more likely to get sick if you eat raw meat.

Yeah, I suggested that in an earlier post, except I said that most disease should be picked up from mosquitoes (obviously I requested mosquitoes too). Anyways, I thought that mosquitoes should come out at dawn and dusk, and come in swarms. If you get bitten too much, you should get sick. :)

The topic of disease brought me to another idea. You should have to go the the bathroom. Don’t go into images of the human body. Just put a section in under the icon where you can eat or sleep that says release waste. Then you’ll just see a yellow liquid spray and a brown block appear. If you don’t go to the bathroom once a day, you’ll get sick. Urine will get messy if you don’t dig a hole, and you’re chance of getting sick will increase if you don’t get rid of your waste. Of course, a couple of side affects can only happen if you add diseases (see previous comment).

Well… I guess that’s okay. It seems like you’re no longer going to be able to just pick up and play without all the worries unless you’re on survival mode. Remember that there are kids that play this game, and they might be frustrated with too much difficulty. MAybe there should be new order of modes (i.e creative, harmless, EASY, then challenging and hardcore) Easy mode being what challenging once was. To let people choose their difficulty?
Yeah, kids play this…so what? Challenging survival mechanics make the game more interesting and fun. If they want to play it easy, all they have to do is play on creative or harmless mode. There’s no point in Kaalus adding easier modes, in my opinion.

I agree with Mack. No need for kaalus to waste time better spent elsewhere to add or change difficulty settings. The kids or any one else who do not want the game to be challenging can switch off challenging mode to the easy mode that is already available.

If the player gets too hungry, his stomach should growl, and attract dangerous creatures…like a pack of wolves looking for a weak and easy snack. The whole farming thing sounds awesome too! :)
I think that if you want hunger not to be too overwhelming, then allow animals to make babies so that there’s a constant supply of food! (maybe 1 every other day?)
First you’d have to be able to trap the damn things and not have them glitch out of whatever pen you build.
Farming, oh heck yeah. Half the reason I still play Minecraft is for building elaborate bases with underground farms and stuff, now I’ll be able to do it in a game that doesn’t feel like playing in a …small enclosed space that isn’t a sandbox, playpen, or closet.

Found a bug. I made a 5 wide 6 long 4 high structure out of glass. Then I filled it with water so it was an infanet water source. I then spawned 1 yellow ray, 1 brown ray, 1 shark, and 1 piranha. Then I put an exter layer of glass on top so the fish could not jump out. Then I spawned in a bunch of piranhas. THen one of the piranhas I spawned spawned inside of a glass block. I was abl to hit it out of the glass but it could not move and acted like it was underwater. Then I hit a piranha underwater into a glass block and the same thing happened as the first piranha that was in the glass block. I was able to hit more piranhas into the glass and spawn more piranhas in the glass ut I could not get it to happen with sharks or rays.
Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I was building a house, and was adding an aquarium to a wall (it was kinda like looking through a window, except you see lots of sharks). I wanted the aquarium to only be visible from that one inside wall, so I built planks all around 3 of the sides, and the top. I decided that just seeing sharks wasn’t really interesting, so I added 2 rays, and 5 piranhas. I cut a small hole in the top, and placed a trap door so I could have access to the inside. I went in, and hit one of the rays. It swam to the corner of the tank and went right THROUGH the wall. It was on the side of my house, so I tried slapping it the way it came, but it wouldn’t go in. I slapped some piranhas to Dr if the rays weren’t the only problem, and they did the same thing. :(

Kaalus whenever you feel like it can you add hygiene? Like if you don’t wash off in some water for a couple of days you smell bad and this stench surrounds you. And please add poop. Lol
I dont like the poop idea, lol. But I do like the hygiene. Maybe your bad smell will make it harder to travel without attracting wolves if you dont hop in some water occasionally. You could then build a shower or bathtub at your home to make a convenient place. It wouldnt have to be a big deal. All you would have to do is get in and get out.

I think that the bad things that happen to the player in the case of eating too much food should be:
·You could get diseases such as eating too much egg could create, maybe, something like salmonella
·The player starts disliking the food and refuses to eat it
I think these are the sort of thing that could make getting food much harder.
Also, from my first bullet point, you could add medical herbs, but they could be VERY difficult to find. Or it could just cure in time.
Please take on board my suggestions as it could make the game more realistic or more challenging

I’m guessing the new game mechanic is farming. It just makes sence, because you said the person needs to be on a multi food diet (aka multiple foods) The only food group in the game is meat. So I believe the only way to get other foods is farming, or fruit plants you can find, and take. I have a feeling that you might make farming crops like you did planting trees. PLEASE don’t do that because when I plant trees
1/20 of the time the tree will actually grow. All the other time the tree saplings will die leaving a dried up one. I find this very painful, and annoying. I’m not asking you to change it, and I know why you put that game mechanic there in the first place. I’m just asking you not to do that to farming, and if you are thinking about more realistic farming, add a hoe to hie the ground to add seeds, and in order for the crops to grow a water source must be nearby. I like what you’re doing with the hungar stamnia ect. I think survivalcraft is too easy, and I need a challenge. There is just one game mechanic I think you should add to this update, and that is armor. You brought leather in 1.21, and it only has 1 use, and I think you are going to add armor anyway, because right beside the thing where you drag food into to feed the player in the player options. There are the four block spaces placed verticly. I don’t know what they’re used for, and I think it means armo. If it’s not armor than what is it, and if you release this update before mojang relases update 0.7.0 for mobile, and title update 12 for Xbox 360. It will give you a major lead making your game 75% better than P.E., and 30% better than Xbox 360. I’d rather you try to make the next update as bug free as possible than release it before mojang. I also think you are much more hardworking than mojang because mojang makes too many excuses to add new features to their game, and you bust your ass dailey to make your fans happy. All I can say is thank you for all this, and I hope you are earning a lot of money from Apple, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. One because it will give you the money to make the game even better, and that will get you sales, and more money. Two you deserve it for all your hard work, and people don’t need to critisize you, because you beat Mojang at their own game. If they want to make fun of your game than they can switch to Minecraft P.E. which is not nearly as good as your game even though it has multiplayer. P.S. Horses was the best idea ever!

Meat is not the only food in the game. There are also eggs, milk, and pumpkins. Trees grow much more than 1/20th of the time, you just have to be sure you’re planting them in the right area with the proper temperature and humidity. Which is how farming should be. Also, forget armor. I’m not a Knight. Minecraft has armor because of the fantasy theme it has but Survivalcraft needs clothes, not armor. In armor I would not be able to run from a beer or swim.

Awesome post! Although I think farming is the next update and I think it will be pretty cool. Kaalus rocks and I hope he earns millions off this game. When I got Minecraft PE I was so dissapointed. Then I played the Blockheads which is also pretty great. However, Survivalcraft beats them all on the phone. Kudos to Kaalus!

I believe multiplayer is your best bet. But you need to add like villages an temples. Maybe instead of village add tents or tipis with indians in them in which you can trade with. An desert temple are completey possible to make with the pressure plates and stuff, add something like that! I like what ur doing but don’t make it too hard, and I think you should add just a hunger bar. Lastly, I think you should get rid of being able to easily change from challenging to creative back to challenging. It better if u only allow creative to adventure, bcuz i always get tempted to cheat lol.

Maybe, instead of armor you should go in the spirit of surviving on islands and have coats you get from animals. You can make them by getting leather from animals.
Well, instead of coats, you could just make.blankets.
Maybe if you meet a rihno, that could give you the best coat.
You should add multiplayer in the update after this one. Cause it takes a while for you to make that.
Love the added survival stuff. Would like to see:
– food slots added to eat / sleep screen that allows for auto-eating. Would still enforce the requirement of eating, but would remove the mundane task of going through the steps of eating.
– to compensate for the new survival stuff you have to do in a day, increase the length of the day to get more things done.

I think that making the game more about survival is a great idea. I do have my doubts though about what it might do to the game if you add needing a balanced diet. The way the game currently stands in terms of the variety of food and lack of beng able to grow food I think that a balanced diet would hurt and not help the game. If the new mechanics is farming I would still wait on requiring a balanced diet until we (the players) have a chance to run around in our games and experience how easy or difficult it might be to get those new foods and start farming. I would suggest that if farming is possible that adding buildings like a GreenHouse would also make sense. The other thought is maybe add fishing to the game and please put more fish in the game in general. A few different types and also some bigger and deeper lakes that get created. It would also be nice if the animals in the game would reproduce/respawn after a certain amount of time. It would be impossible to eat a balanced diet if you completely wipe out a few types of animals. The final thought is maybe to help with the survival aspect since it can sometimes take a day or two in a game to get settled and started depending on your spawn location to have the player start with a random seed or two. They can start farming immediately and it makes the people on the boat not look totally cruel. It just means that the “hero” was probably a big jerk and should be alone on an island. :-)

Go with mods. The game can be what the player wants as long as there’s a mod for it. Plus waiting for new updates isn’t as bad because you just play a new mod when bored. This will make it way better than before and really help. I’d love to see multiplayer but I believe mods are better and more important.

Google show weeks ago the Google Play Games Service, with this you can add Achievements and… Multiplayer! Using google servers, like gameloft do in Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour.
I think kaalus could use google servers to make achievements and maybe multiplayer.
The service is also avaiable in ios.
Those are some really great ideas, but everyone really wants multiplayer… id prioritize that for a near future update.

I found my first white bull yesterday while working on my prison! So now who ever downloads my prison map will also have a captured white bull. You will find on one of the sides of the outer wall in a fence like cage.

Idk why people insist you should be able to have railroads.. This game is clearly on a different level than minecraft.. Here’s my list:
Some creative only blocks that allow you to place large areas of blocks to speed up construction. Building huge structures takes forever without multiplayer. And another creative mode block that lets you swap blocks rather than destroy and replace.
Dedicated up and down buttons for flying.
Fix split-touch
I want to be able to saddle any animal that’s large enough I.e. Elephants, giraffes
Some natives or maybe something like the others from lost, they could sneak in and steal your stuff or ambush you maybe.
Some randomly placed areas to explore like villages for the natives or ruins or something like that, survival mode doesn’t really have a point right now without something to look for, I’d want to explore the place and try to find a way to get rescued if I was marooned.
Maybe some disease and some kind of herbs you have to seek out to cure yourself and some poisonous creatures and an antidote to craft.
Tornadoes earthquakes volcanoes, some natural disasters would be awesome. I think a volcano would need a different biome and some lava rock bricks to make it look more like the black rock around rl volcanoes.
Fishing farming animal herding so you can get them in a corral.
Love the new survival mechanics. I don’t like the mine cart idea that someone posted though, it doesn’t really fit in the setting.

Maybe there is a way to tweak the settings, but I just haven’t found it yet. As a casual player who can only play a couple hours a week, it’s just too hard to try to survive with the settings the way they are. I’d like to turn it down to maybe 50% of what they are now. I’d also like to be able to turn off food rot completely, because digging, and exploring are my two passions with games like these. Right now I just spend all my time trying to find enough food to survive. Also, the fact that you have to continue to re-fertilize your crop areas if you try to farm makes farming almost impossible without working on it full time.
