I am still working on the better survival AI. I need to make the dangerous creatures seek you out from longer distances at night, even if you’re hidden somewhere. We’ll see how it goes. There’s only so much CPU power on the weaker phones to spend on AI nastiness.
To take a small break from this complex stuff, I decided that today I’ll do something easier. So here you have a new animal:
It is a rhino, and it may get quite unpleasant when you meet one. They will be rare and live in warm areas, but these are known to be very bad tempered. They charge fast and hit hard. Think of it as a bear on steroids.
Still to do is the overhaul of the knockback system, when you hit an animal. At the moment you can easily knock back a bear or a bull. This will likely no longer be so in 1.22. What I want to do is that attacking a big animal without some preparation (e.g. planning the escape route or making a trap) is suicidal business.
More new animals yet to come in 1.22, some of them quite dangerous as well :-)

Kaalus, ur making this more of a fear factor game than a fun game .__. Well it is gonna be fun and challenging but what about this, why dont u make a preperation map? Because if we make a plan and go far away or some distance we might forget where it is. Why dont u add papyrus and when we place it in the crafting box we get paper? And out of paper we make maps and the ink being blood of animals or u could add giant squids not only giving u about 5-10 ink sacs but extremely challenging to kill since theyre giant and for the writing stencil we could get quills from birds when they die! :D
No matter what I will always find the game fun… Did you know that you can set fire to animals with a match. I have never laughed so hard.
Me and my friends like to start forest fires with animals in it so we get cooked meat!!!
I like building small yet big and dangerous traps like a three block deep pit with lava in it and a grass trap over it so when the animal steps on it the fall in and get scorched alive.

You have to place dirt blocks as a lightning rod. That saved me once or twice.
One time I was building a skyscraper and I was really high when I was struck by lighting and died then one time I was sleeping in my sky scraper and it burned down so I awoke on the floor then I was walking and a lighting bolt struck 3 cows so I got cooked meat!!!!

there is one thing the cold bioms only are in strips. On my maps it is just a strip that goes along bout 10 blocks wide and 100 long

I saw someone post about a sling shot to throw stone chunks with more damage, maybe they could stun the animal for a few seconds giving us a chance to escape safely? I agree with Nicholas. Also, we should be able to build a catapult, or a battering ram. Maybe a full-sized ship, and we could make all kinds of things with wheels! (And even more with engines and gasoline).

Sounds pretty cool, and makes the whole “need to keep scavenging for food” thing that much more difficult.
Speaking of scavenging for food, I have to ask whether farming is even part of the eventual paradigm for Survival Craft. No suggestions for how to do it or what crops to include, just fishing for a basic “yes, I intend to add it” or “no, forced hunting and gathering is part of what makes Survival Craft distinct”.

Hey Kaalus. With all these new animals it sounds like we may need better weapons. Have you ever considered adding an atlatl? No that’s not a spelling error, an atlatl is simple handheld device used to throw spears harder and faster, would make for an interesting weapon I think.
Would be simple enough to design a crafting recipe, a few sticks and some leather is all it needs.
Let’s hear some feedback, what do you guys think about an atlatl?

I like the atlatl idea. Especially since.we.already have spears. I have made a couple in real life.and it would go good.with the theme.of the game. But maybe the spears could be stacked in inventory and automatically loaded after throwing the first. Also add a stone.chunk to the recipe. Most atlatls have a stone tied to the body for a weight to help throw.harder. Maybe.three diagonal sticks,a piece of leather under the top corner and a stone chunk above.middle.stick. Like this

Hey uh couple of those ideas were mine to like a dragon that are extremely difficult to find and when you like find one like where you could tame it and put a saddle on it and stuff. Plus the good thing is like if a vicious animal attacks you the dragon should immediately go after that animal and kill automatically so what this could do is give the player a huge advantage with a dragon as there pet on survivalcraft.
Need book that you can make that tells all about each animal with pictures. On the game.
Need bookbag to hold more stuff than the inventory. You should be able to carry stiff in it and wear it. So when you die you will not lose whatever you had.

there should be alpha wolfs that have more health and do more damage and are faster that would be cool! i will list of some animals and living things that i really want in survivalcraft,
cheetah, dolphin (rideable), whale, indians (very hostile rides horses and have canoes!)
I think you shouls add fishing, because fishing from my roof would be EPIC. Since you are adding all these survival features, i think fishing rods is a must. If you disagree i think you should add fishing NETS insteaf. It would be great to take the boat out on the ocean to put nets down and drag it up the next day. Please consider this and please REPLY (its not that hard kaalus, i have seen u do it before)
And while im at it: seas with rare islands and whales!
What I think would be the coolest feature is fishing rods or fishing nets. Since you are adding all these survival things i think this is a must! And while I’m at it: add seas with rare islands!

Okay, I get how you are trying to make survivalcraft more dangerous by adding more dangerous animals, but you’re forgetting a other reality that makes this game less…real. in older times us humans had only eachother to fight, hunt, and surviive, but then wheather changes, and more horranle creatures such as the sabor-toothed tiger almost stopped our race from existing. Then the wooves would come, and raid camps, but tuen they discovered if they fed the wolves, the wilves became more friendly, and as the trust grew on, they helped us with hunting, fighting, and they were the perfect danger alarm. So what this game is missing, is animal companionship. Without it, the game can get lonely. And makes it less real.

zombies and monsters would destroy the game! this game is realistic and its awesome that way get minecraft if you want to fight monsters and zombies but i think the realisticness of this game keeps it from being like other games in a good way!

Kaalus, if it’s easy to add animals, can you add more? I I know you’re planning on it, but I’m hoping for at least 5 more new animals. It makes the game more interesting…in my opinion. Also, can you add different terrain; maybe like a jungle, and add tigers and monkeys. Also, if you want to add more dangerous creatures, add mosquitoes. You could make swarms of them in the early morning, or at sunset. It would make the survival aspect harder; maybe you could get sick if you get bitten too much. These are just some new ideas ;)

Dessert-alligator,frog,bass,raccoons,snakes, and egret.
Safaris/jungle-pandas,armadillo,chimpanzee(drops banana),cooger,foxes,gorillas,hedgehogs,hyenas, jaguars,koalas,lynx,monkeys(also drops bananas,red panda,skunks(knocks u out),tigers,
Scorpions,turtles.
-Dolphins,and sea star.

Kaalus, I’m a first time commenter but have you ever considered adding machinery systems into the game? This would mean the and of infinite energy from batteries and what not. I mean now you would need windmills, solar panels or generators to feed into a batterybox and store power, to be used by machines such as furnaces, grinders ( grinds up the ores into 1-2 dusts for an increased ore output ) and lamps. Also I might give you another suggestion: Buy minecraft ( if you haven’t bought it already ) and download a mod called Terrafirmacraft. It’s minecrafts survival aspect put on steroids!

You should inform us when new updates are coming with newsletters to our emails. What we really need are villagers, and being able to connect. I feel lonely when im living in a huge world by myself, I want to enjoy with friends, or even random people across the world. Yea, sure, we dont want you to copy Minecraft straight up but there will always be something someone want. I also agree with what tkemp, dan and sam said. Those are the things people are looking for. Please read our ideas and add what you can.

Can you make it so, like Minecraft computer version, you can tame the wolves and have them as pets. Or when you are hunting, when you hit something, the wolf will go and attack for you. I don’t know. How about you add some sort of cat to the game.

You should make jungles with leopards in it with waterfalls and animals including monkeys,lions,cheetahs,flowers on trees,flowing rivers,tropical birds,turtles,and what ever is in a jungle habitat
Kaalus, we need more weapons such as guns especially ak47’s. We need girl characters too, possibly skins as well.We could use more animals to ride on too. Also more sea creatures like dolphins and we could use some coral reefs and eels. It would be pretty cool if we could have dogs like the mans best friend and like mc to tame te dogs we could put collars on them and they would follow you and hunting dogs just as well! In the desert biomes you could put snakes, and you could make a swamp biome with alligators, turtles, hawks, and we shouldn’t have a limit to how many animals we can place. And we should have fantasy animals like dragons.
In the snowy areas,I found a white animal that looked exactly like a bull. What is it? It does not have a swawning egg,so….
Know what I’d like to get in survival craft I want dragons which the dragons I thought of are.
1. A water dragon in the ocean and deep lakes plus they should breath water
2. A thunder dragon that only comes out during thunderstorms and breaths lightning that stuns you.
3. A ice dragon that breaths ice that freezes you solid plus they should live areas filled with snow and ice.
4. A fire dragon that breaths fire and lives in volcanos.
5. A grass dragon that breaths thorns and lives in forests.
6. A wind dragon that lives in the clouds and breaths air.
7. A rock dragon that lives in caves and breaths sand.
8. A golden dragon that lives in temples and breaths golden breath.
And
9. A black dragon that’s only out during the night and that breaths black smoke breath.
And that’s please add these kaalus
This is a logical survival game. Not a game full of wizards and dragons and faries and fantasy crap like that.
