In the last couple of days I have made good progress with pathfinding. It still has some rough edges, but it’s almost good enough for the first release.

A full pathfind, in a complex environment on a slow phone, may take as much as 150ms. This of course happens on a separate thread, but if your phone is single-core, this thread will share the CPU with all the others. That means the game would slow down a bit for short periods while the animals are pathfinding.
To combat this, I made the AI to use pathfinding as little as possible. With this on, I hope the slowdowns will not be noticeable. If they are, there’s always room for optimizations and tweaking. We’ll see.

I think you should add a sea update. Firdt you should add a sea biome with islands spawning rare. This biome should be BIG because i dont think its quite right to have a sea biome at the size of other biomes. Secound you can add a ship.( I know your adding boats but a ship is cooler at the sea)
Third add fishing rods so you can fish.
You should add crabs at beaches.
You should add chutulus that are only in sea biomes. They should replace werewolves and climb up at islands at night to kill you.
Last you should add fish nets and crab traps so you can set them in the sea and the next they you could drag them up and get lots of fish/crab.

I was thinking the same thing. I tried it, and it seems that wolves are not yet attracted to meat. The next update will be pretty cool (well, they all are). Here’s an idea- you can use meat as bait leading to a trap. The only problem is that drops disappear in approximately three minutes. Maybe Kaalus will make it so that dropped meat stays dropped until either picked up or eaten? I hope so! Oh, the possibilities!

Awesome! A bit frightened when I saw the part where they might be able to get to you while you are sleeping! Protecting my house now! :-) you think other animals will be able to break blocks like dirt and sand? Or would that be to difficult to make?
wolves and other animals can dig that would be a cool mechanic to the game as long as it is 1 block deep.

Considering that Kaalus is worried about the amount of CPU that path-finding takes, I don’t believe that animals attacking each other will ever make it into the game.
Will they still refuse to get u in between cactus rows? (I have started a new map and have been using cactuses for protection and some more inside the fence for fuel) way easier than mining coal and more efficient because cactus will grow back

This is an awesome addition, however it was discovered that dogs don’t have a strong ability to reason path-finding around obstacles – they will figure it out if it’s simple, but more complex (or paths involving much back-tracking) they can’t.
Yes, but dogs in real world have curiosity, and love to explore. Pathfinding is answer to that in virtual world. Animals now can explore buildings and caves, like they are curious… :) Fanatic addition to game, until now I have never seen animals in my buildings, because of that I never close doors behind me…

I think there should be a limit to how complex a path animals can follow, (with werewolves) being very smart.
For that animals, when it can’t solve the simple path, it follows the fence in one direction for a bit, if it can’t solve a simple path, it goes the other way, and then could possibly end up going back and forth.
Please add seasons! 4 game days in each season! And at spring we could have baby animals! Kawai!

How about you add a rope and a harness so you can swing the rope up like 20 block high on a mountain and this allows you to jump over 2 or 3 blocks even though it only counts as you jumping 1 block stamina wise. This way it will reserve stamina. Someone respond lol
Good idea! Will horses and other herbivores/omnivores graze grass? Wolves eat meat,so will they eat grass(the herbivores/omnivores)? I think this game is so realistic now! Can’t wait!

Maybe you copy the game and then make a separate higher quality version for the higher end phones. I have the note 2 and I’m sure it can handle it. This could be a solution to making the step to using more bits and still allowing those with lesser tech to enjoy a lower bit version at full speed. Idk how complicated it really is but it sounds easy enough.

That’s a great idea! If I could train a wolf pack I could just have them hunt for me! Still, since survivalcraft’s getting more realistic, I sure animals will have to eat. I’d have to feed the wolves. P.S. I like the idea of being able to farm, in case the wolves didn’t catch enough.

Thank you Kaalus for adding the amazing mecahnics of pathfinding, hut now that animals eat meat this brings up a new idea:
Animal taming.
Animals would be able to be tamed by being fed enough, and perhaps given a collar/harness/saddle as well in some cases. Tamed animals will no longer attack you for coming up to them and feeding them (tamed bulls will not attack you for milking tame cows) and they’ll have to be attacked to a certain amount of damage before attacking you back. Animals that are usually predators/defensive and attack you will fight for you, and will keep on attacking the enemy until A: they’re own health is extremely low, or B: the enemy is dead/fleeing if there is more than one target. Animal’s health can be raised again by being fed more. By making a rope, you tie animals with accesories such as collars or harnesses or reins to fence posts or some other new block. Tamed animals with these accesories will be able to walk away 10 blocks away from the block. Tamed animals without any collar will only have a length of 4-5 blocks. The ones without accesories will also be able to tug off and break the rope to get to you. However, they’ll have to tug a lot to break the rope. To tie the rope, tap on the animal first, and then tap on the block you wish to them to. If you try to tie the rope to an untamed animal, the rope will break and the animal will attack you or run away. Weaving leather various materials together makes fabric, using fabric you can make clothes and ropes. To make these though, you’d have harvest dry bush.

Also, using whistles would call over tame coyotes and wolves. The clothes aren’t totally neccasary, just coming up with another use for fabric. :P

Once animals become tame, predators will start trying to hunt them. If your stables for your horses and cows aren’t completely solid and secure, a wolf might penetrate through your fences, easily attacking and killing all your cows. Tamed wolves/coyotes (etc) will start running off to attack the marauding animals, but who says it has to be a lone wolf?
But If Your In Survival You Cannot Collect Dry Bushes.
and to make fabric put sheep in the game then you.just put the wool in the crafting table then use paint

it would be awesome if there was a way to add a setting for animal ai like some games have. the lowest setting could be the way things are now. the medium could be the way you are talking about going to and the highest could be the way you said they would use more pathfinding for higher end devices. that way you could set it for the smoothest running one for your device…just like display settings.

I think you should make 1.23 about decoration and add ramp blocks wich will be crafted by putting an ax at the corner of a wood block and it gives you two corner cut ramp blocks.next is stained glass and will be crafted by putting glass in the furnace with the color flower you want.last, we should be able to make customizable paintings by putting sticks in the corners the sides, top and bottom and finally,leather in the middle.kaalus PLLLLLLEASE READ THIS

hello. I have some ideas you might want to add to the game. first off, more monsters other than werewolf. it also needs more tamable animals. multiplayer play, fishing poles, beds (instead of building it out of three wood planks and look like a bed). switches and buttons don’t generate power unless connected to a power source( send more realistic. more ideas will surely come up.
I agree with the idea on switches. Right now the battery is kindof pointless. At first I thought it had to be used with all electronics (the logical thing). Then when I found out it wasnt needed with a switch… I thought it would be for when you wanted a source of power without the ability to turn on and off. Then I found out that all you have to do is throw in any old gate and it would work, which is what I do now. Sometimes I will hook my lights to a not gate on the roof and let it hook through the corner crack. Its completely wireless, but its unrealistic. In fact with a gate sometimes you dont even need a switch sometimes. You can just rotate the gate and cycle the output to turn on and off.
I think a gate or a switch should have to have a power source. And if your using for example an “and” gate with two switches coming in, each switch should have to be hooked to power or its like it isnt there.
I have this game on the phone…….. I want it on my surface…..sooner the better…. I would pay again …. over and out….

What’s the or gates for
Top three things that get on my nerve on a SurvivalCraft review on youtube is:
1. They say SurvivalCraft is exactly the same as minecraft SC has way better stuff
2. People don’t know what they’re doing or call the electrics redstone items
3. People use the minecraft texture pack during the video
People need to play the game for a week or so before they make a video about it unless its a Let’s play series that’s fine
