Ok, here’s another bug I want to fix in 1.21, but I can’t reproduce it. It’s the coal block fire going out when it’s supposed to burn forever. Several people have reported it, but I can’t get it to happen.
With the great success of fixing 2 last bugs (signs and stairs) with your help, understandably I’m willing to try it again :-)
Can anyone get me a reproducible case for this bug?
What I am after is what to do in step 3:
- Place a coal block
- Set it on fire
- Now what? <— that’s what I need (what to do to get the fire out)
- Aha, coal block fire is out!
If you know what to do in step 3 to get the fire out when it should still be burning, please email me or add a comment to this post.

I never really had an issue with the coal block problem. But here’s news out of the game, which is about people saying that it shouldn’t copy minecraft. I get really mad because minecraft was inspired by terraria, terraria was the original survival game. Just saying. Minecraft wasn’t original, they got inspired by terraria. Oh yeah, about the coal block problem, I put alot of coal blocks together but they never burnt out. I don’t know what you guys are doing but I play on the android.
i hhave a bug if you get spikes you can put wires all around it alaso you can put leds on top of each other
The spike can be powered by elcetircs
It is usually caused by going too far or having too many blocks burning. Also, i had some burning stacked on eachother and after a few minutes, every once in a while, a coal block would burn away.
I have had it happen to me, but my situation is much different , three things put mine out: moving VERY far away,Saving and coming back to my world And finally putting above lava will burn and DESTROY the block :(
In my case, fire disappears when i stay far away from the place where coal block is.
Especially when i come back to coal block from far away after rain.
And why i can have 4 coal blocks only?
Other blocks can have 40 at once..

Step 3 is if you leave the are and come back, it kept happening to me while I was building the wall of a kingdom map, when ever I left the area where it was (go about 100-100 block aprox) it seems to be happening once you cant see it anymore and are a sufficiant distance away…
By the way kaalus do you think will you ever add worldwide multiplayer? It would realy help with building larg detailed maps

I’ve had mixed results. Any coal blocks left in anything like a fireplace goes out once it’s out of view, but I’ve had a freestanding block stay lit after going out of view. Also, I’ve had a freestanding stack of coal blocks go out.

That’s right – it’s not supposed to be infinite in the furnace. Only when burning outside.
Um 1 thing,when ever I make a bon fire useing coal, Nd then surounding it wth basalt, or cobblestone, ot still manages to catch fire onto othr surrounding bocks.

Me too I tried to make a fire place and I had a huge dimond house and I layered my fire place with 5 cobble stonne then put the coal block in there then went to sleep (in the game) and when I woke up my building was on fire:'(:'(:'(:'(

I traveled 1,375 blocks away from a burning block and it was still burning when I got back. The block is surrounded on the sides and below by granite. There are two blocks of air above it. This is below terrain level (roughly 12 blocks below sea level).
This is on a Nexus 7.
I’ll post again if I manage to make it go out.
Whoops…forgot to mention this is in challenging mode.
unnn….i knew that when i bult a wall with coal block and set them in fire will make some of them destroy by fire.And in very very rare occasion ,after some coal blocks destroyed by fire there will be 1 or 2 coal block left and is not on fire but i only find it in 1.20.0 up till now i have not see it in 1.20.2.Maybe this will help you :)

I also had strange bugs with coal blocks, just like others said, blocks goes out when far away and blocks burned away. Now I found that sometimes it creates glitch areas where it make repeating burning animations and any blocks put inside gets destroyed. Also lava won’t always ignite the coal block when placed under.
ami good does not happen that the coal block bug not fire me off any more when alone in a corner
From reading other people’s comments, it sounds like the issue is that coal blocks can be destroyed by other sources of combustion (including other coal blocks, lava, etc.). My coal block which won’t go out is the only source of fire. I lit it with a match. No lava or other coal blocks involved.

1.was it a single coal block?
2.did you go so far away from to the point that you couldn’t see it any more?

Me to when I go like so far away then come back (I found my way back with a compass) my block was still buring I found out other things make it go out like slabs if you put a slab on the burning coal block it goes out but other wise,kaalus you should put diffrent blocks to test it and maybe ppl playing on challenge mode or harmless or other thing espt creative I think it might be the rain I’m just thinking I will try it and post you guys back good luck finding the problem!
Putting a block or water flowing on top of coal block.And if theres water/lava flow(not source) beside the coal block,that side of coal block dont seem to be burnt.
The first one is step 3.
And i built a basalt arena with burning coal blocks on top,the basalt below has the same effect as wood(not in the furnace)burnt for 20 seconds.

Often if you have to may coal blocks burning they will burn up
Put a coal block. Ignite it. After one block put another coal block. He lights up and disappears!

The infinate block goes out for me Kaalus when i go far away for a long period of time. I can go far away and come back and its fine, just when i stay away for a long period of time. It also happens that animals spawn in my house when i do this
It goes out 4 me 2, but not always when i travel far away, sometimes when its burned 4 a long period of time, and SOMETIMES when I go far away.
For me it only happens in creative mode I went in land as far as I cud in one day then I lit a coal block then I slept and went out to sea and came back it was still burning (harmless)
There doesnt seem to be any pattern with it. Its just a random thing that happens now and then. Same with animals spawning in my house. Went in through the front door once and was met by a bear. Nearly give me a heart attack.
I found that it only goes out after raining.
Another instance of the bug appears when placing coal blocks on a mountain top or 30+ blocks above ground level for beacon fire. The ones placed higher up seem to go out with more consistency than ground level. I think that the game forgets they are burning when their chunk unloads and reloads. /shrug. A persistence issued same as seen in long run electricity. Klaaus any chance of have a fire starter device like the detonator that doesn’t destroy itself but will ignite the block it is affixed to? Keep up the great work.
What devices are you seeing the coal bug on, i have tried everything mentioned and have still not seen this on my device, it may only affect certain devices. The only issue i notice with coal blocks is that only 4 can burn at one time. Once a fifth block is lit on fire it or another block will burn up and break.
On my Nexus 7,
I noticed this:
1) I lit a 3×1 row of coal blocks on fire with a match
2) I waited a little while then placed another row parallel to that and set them on fire, like so:
1-2
1-2
1-2
Key: 1=row 1, 2=row 2, -=air
3) The second row burnt the standard length of time then burnt away to nothing.
Mine went out within seconds after walking away,maybe 30 blocks. I looked back and it was gone. Previously, i had another block which probably burnt for two weeks in game in the same spot. I think it disappeared after raining.
Step 3 is distance, once you have left the loaded area the effects are reset, much like electricity.

I know right I’ve been checking every day for this update xp. Lol, I don’t rush I’m just really exsighted! Can’t wait! :D
The block disappears when you place a block perpendicular to the other as when you are building a coal”fence” around your house or some thing and light them. It must be at least 2 blocks tall. It also happens if you arrange it like this in a T shape.
If you use electronics over long distances, they will not work. Also, if you have a chain of gunpowder kegs long enough, the explosions will not continue over the entire chain but will leave a flat wall with the kegs in/on it.
I just replicated the bug several times, I’m on Android 4.1.2 Samsung galaxy s3. Playing in creative mode with a world file size of 67mb, I placed stacks of 1, 2,3 and 4 on the ground and set them on fire, after leaving the visible area and doing some work I return 5mins later to find them all out. I lit them again and repeated the process, this happened several times.
It’s not a glitch in the game it’s in the loading of the world
Can you add the ability to change your character’s skin. As make it a girl cause I want to make my own skin kinda like how minecraft is.
Sooo with u on the changeing skin thing, but I would not compare this game to minecraft, survival craft is just waaaaaaaayyyyyyy better.

another idea soon can you add skin texture actually no point of adding skin texture on this update because multiplayer is not out so when multiplayer out can you add skin texture so we can look like a minecraft human,herobrine,hobo and more…

You can put on an upside down stair and it will go out.
Happened again, this time i was flying and could clearly see it,maybe 40-50 blocks away (dont count on those numbers im not good at judging these types of things) it disappeared after i set the click from dawn to noon. I was on creative.
Also, will there be spawn eggs for the stingrays, sharks, etc? If not there really should be!
You should add: blocks w/ built in ladders, camo pressure plates that matches whatever block you place it on, electrified blocks that zap whatever stands on them (must be connected to electrical elements), and water that conducts electricity.

What about tameing animals, I mean it would b awsome if we could tame basics like wolves coyotes, and maybe u could add bobcat so we could tame them into cat. It would be reallly cool if there was a way to tame the sharks comeing up, bears, birds and cows…..all except the extremely dangerous, like maybe not the shark. Also YOU SHOULD SERIOUSLY ADD WHALES IN NXT UPDATE. :D
I quess everything whats not seen in the user view-range will stop work like electronics too and thats maybe cuz the blocks not seen by view-range are not working because they are not loaded by the game!?!?! only if they are in view-range!! thats what i think why coal stop working!

… Don’t try to build a castle out of coal blocks and then set the whole thing on fire. ;) I spent a day building an immense castle out of coal, and then set it aflame. Frame rate = <10, as well as several of the blocks dissappearing. All my hard work, gone. :( I rebuilt the castle in a different world, though, out of stone bricks. (World is downloadable in the community section, called Castles 1.2)
I have a bug… ok when i put a sign out and type on it , i stop playing survival craft, and when start playing it again everything it covered with water except the things i built

Ok, 1st of all, everyone should know by now that new blocks that appear in nature are only found in a new world. 2nd, I believe that the coal block issue is caused by people trying to surround the coal block in some kind of stone, lighting it, and then covering the final face in a cell trapdoor, causing it to go out, since the fife is a layer block in itself, so that if something is placed in the way, that side cannot be still on fire. I would like Kaalus to set the fire block so that it does not go out when a trapdoor is set on it, and for the fire on the coal blocks to have a more calm and relaxed sound, so that when I come home from a day of exploring I don´t freak out thinking that my house is on fire.
Actually your wrong atleast in the case of the 1.20 update. New blocks and other features like the larger cave systems, do appear in old world maps in areas that have not had been disturbed by the player before the update, Kaalus has confirmed this himself in older posts on this blog.
I agree with that last but about having a more calm and relaxed sound.

I play survival craft on my windows Nokia lumia 710 and it is super fun but one thing I would like to see is a multiplayer mode in the game so that u can connect and play with friends sorry about the grammar its like I’m texting but I really like this game so keep it up and anyone who has experienced this the reason u can’t have a big stack of copper, coal, iron or diamond blocks is because they are valuables

A portal would be nice. A portal system would be even better. You walk onto the portal pad and a pop-up comes up. Your portals are titled to your preference like signs so you can choose where you teleport. To craft you must use a battery a bucket of water and a lightbulb. When you teleport, the screen goes black like you are sleeping and you are on the portal pad you chose.
P.S. you may need to add a byproduct box on the crafting table to get the empty bucket back.
Could you make it able to lay a gunpowder trail to a gunpowder keg or flammable block because it would be quicker to craft a gunpowder trail and match than finding copper to make wire and a switch or button or whatever.

I KNOW! When one of the coal blocks sides is touched by blocks other than coal. Please e-mail me if this is true. I have been trying to get coal blocks to stay lit and eventually through observation I .add this theory. I am happy to help with the update for survivalcraft
