1.19.2 Stability Update

You have probably noticed it by now, but Microsoft have passed 1.19. Their confirmation email arrived about 7 hours after the Amazon’s one. So it was a close race :-)

I have just pushed out to Google Play an update, which contains a further batch of stability improvements, mostly Android-specific.

Here’s the list of fixes in 1.19.2:

  • Tegra 2 bug workaround (note: you need to enable it manually in Settings/Graphics)
  • Pressure plates pickup bug fixed
  • Electricity does not propagate properly from batteries sometimes (note: this is already fixed in Windows Phone and Amazon builds)
  • Blackscreen hang fix after coming out of standby mode on some devices

The update will appear in a couple of hours.

      You might have to navigate to the game and update it there, that’s what I had to do mate.

      If you had read the blog you would know that this is not possible without adding more memory bits to each block which is not going to happen

    i found a few BUGS / ISSUES :

    1. I can’t place a SLAB on top of another SLAB. It breaks.

    2. THE CIRCUITS ! Everytime I leave the game the source sends a ’1′ signal to my circuit ! Lets say I made a clock and it was at 6th minute when i left the game. if I reenter the MAP the clock gives me 1st minute and 6th minute both lit up ! And the signal / charge at 6th minute is also actually stucked that the new charge sent byvthe source manages to catch up and override the last point yhe charge was at when i left. :(


    I have a video of it on my video channel. Im about to give up though.

      Big demands for just a alpha version. I’m planning on building a simple binary counter. I’ll see if I run into the same errors. I think there is a small bug in the latches. Seems like in particular it sticks for a little bit if your using the clock. I made a strobe light that uses a sr latch for a oscillator and fed that into the clock on another latch so I could toggle solid or pulse strobe light based on the reset being high or not. Anyways when I leave with it strobing and come back I noticed it would be a little irregular. I’m going to try it with me building my own flip-flop and see if it still sticks. One of my experiments I had the latch stuck high no matter what I did and had to take it down and put a new one back up. Reset with a sludge hammer.
      Just my observations for what their worth.

        while i was playing with my clock concept i managed to improve it.
        so it runs almost like the earlier one but with little improvement.

        when i leave and reenter the map, it doesn’t send that signal i was saying with my previous post. BUT … it still gets stucked at where the light was at when i left it .. and the current stops moving there.

          Can you try to strip down the circuit to the smallest possible set that reproduces the problem? If it’s simple enough I may be able to debug it and fix the issue.

          okay. it happens when you have a circuit like this.

          a series of 4 bulbs with delays (at least 4 so you could see what i mean) between them. then a feedback with a not gate from the last bulb to the beginning of the series. a basic loop.

          though that kind of series wouldn’t give you a clear view.

          would you like me to give you my world file instead ? sorry for my poor English.

    Any ideas for 1.20?? And guess what, in minecraft is coming redstone what you can put to walls and everywhere… Maybe they take that idea from kaalus? :P maybe pistons for 1.20 and armors

    Are you planning on implementing multiplayer support? Kids really love this game and cried when they couldn’t play together like in pe minecraft.

    Come on people give the guy a break. It is the run up to Xmas and he is bug fixing 1.19 . Programming takes organised planning and a hell of a lot of patience. Enjoy the current release. No one likes to be pushed, esspecally those few people like Kaalus that takes pride and consideration in what he does. I am sure the announcement will happen when the time is right and all is well with 1.19.

    Kaalus – the stability update works excellently. I can switch between apps and put both my Samsung Note & Galaxy S3 on standby with out any problems. Great work fella!

      Also I don’t know if you read it, but a gentleman on here announced that using a third party UI such as GoLuancher can cause issues. Just thought I would mention it.

    Bit of a strange bug on WP7, but it looks like some android-specific UI has leaked in to our version of the game…

    There’s a “back” button in the top-left corner of all the menu screens, which is fully redundant on WP7 because the hardware back button does exactly the same thing.

    Very nice, Ilove how quickly you can update this.

    Of course, more creatures or even more spawning would be nice. If Iwipe out an area, it’s gone. Done. While this sounds great, it gets boring.

    Here is a small list of features Ithink would put you over the top, ie beat minecraft PE:

    1: rail system. To avoid looking like you are copying minecraft, it couldbe something other than a mining cart. This makes travel between long distances viable. Heck, use a teleporter! Same thing, but no need to dig miles and miles of blocks out of the way, etc.

    2: autominer. This is a mod in minecraft pc, it automatically mines a set block area all the way down to the bedrock. This would be really cool and could require a lot of resources to build, but once it’s built it could be set to mine the bejeesus out of, say, an entire mountain.

    3: add hunger, better health system. Currently, the health system looks like a minecraft clone. Maybe a more modern health bar and hunger bar, and/or experience bar.

    4: with electricity comes modern marvels! Some small features Ithink would be neat:

    Flight aspects (seriously. Admit it. You would want to build a helicopter or plane in survival mode!)

    You get the idea. I realize this is an awful lot to ask for so Iwill enjoy what Ido have now. And ignore the guy asking for a nether gate. If Iwanted to play minecraft pe Iwould just load it up. Alternative worlds would be interesting, though.

    And ESPECIALLY add the ability to have other players in the same game! That woyld be bloody awesome. I could make a trap maze with all this electricity now…

    Great job on 1.19 kaalus, could you add wheat farming for 1.20 so you could make bread.

    What’s wrong with texture packs? When I download one, and activate it, the world still stays as default. This happened after I downloaded new texture packs for 1.19. Before that they activated and looked normal. I would be very grateful if you had time for my problem. BTW I’m using WP7.

      When you select a custom texture pack but what you see is still the default, that means the custom texture pack is invalid. For example, it is too big, is not a valid PNG file or is not a power-of-two size. At some point I may add an error message so that you know what happened. Currently it just silently falls back to the default one.

    Is the stability update coming for wp7 because I have problems with picking up the pressure plates? I don’t want you to do working in so close to Xmas so take maybe a vacation or something like that kaalus.

    thanks for electricity update. I have spotted a bug though. an accidental dump of some water washed away the battery from a working circuit. I was able to pick up the battery and use it elsewhere. however, power is still available on the first circuit even though there is no battery attached.

    I can’t be the only person who doesn’t get the logic circuits, and how they work :P Still an ok update, recipedia is good, especially the damage rating of weapons :) Scrolling needs to be updated though, as it doesn’t feel smooth… Keep up the good work kaalus x

      I don’t either cooperdan but i’m starting at the begining. simple circuits and gonna try each unit on my test board. and try and grow my knowledge, hopefully i will learn a little. what i wan’t to see is a few videos from kaalus how some circuits can add to the game.

          No problem, I have made a working clock so far. Prehaps after xmas I will compile a few videos if no one else does. Once you get the concept of the gates it all comes togethet. Just keep playing , dont give up :) have a nice xmas.

    The one thing I have to say is it rains to much!!! It rains twice a day and it gets annoying it would really never rain that much unless your in the rain forest.

    Hi, I have a lot of bugs in 1.19, such as invisible blocks, disappearing buildings, and large, long strips usually in closed large areas (kind of colored ribbons). Flow of the game have also deteriorated HR. Often throws me out of the game to the menu, sometimes the game freezes completely, before the update everything was ok

    kaalus,great job! i have a couple of bugs. First when i am mining it takes a second or two to mine the cobblestone or ore. Second, i have checked several caves and cannot find any germanium. hope you can help. Thank you

    Hi, resets the phone, install the game again, nothing helps.       Hi masterblaster.

      Thanks for the screenshots, that explains it. You have hit a limit of geometry in a single chunk, which is currently about 22,000 triangles. If you go over it, there may be all sorts of glitches. I will be fixing it at some point, although it’s not trivial and I am reluctant to do it because it will slow down the game, even if you’re nowhere near the limit.

      The workaround is not to build so much in one vertical shaft of 16×16 blocks. Move some of the constructions to the side. Or use blocks that have less geometry. The simplest ones are full blocks (like stone, dirt etc.). Stairs, doors, ladders, torches etc. use more.

      If you remove enough expensive blocks or fill in the broken shaft with solid blocks until the geometry count gets back below the limit, it will display correctly again.

      Sorry about that, but performance is a massive priority for me on the on the phones, so some corners were cut to squeeze a few percent more.
