Cave Surprise

Here’s a little video of the new 1.15 creature. Although you can’t really see it because it’s so dark.

I want to do some more terrain optimizations and 1.15 should be ready for submission.

And congratulations to those who guessed correctly that the new creature is a bear :-)

Not that it matters in the slightest, but near the end of the video there is a typo that says “Going blindly into caves *not* longer a good idea…”
Really excited for new stuff though, it seems as though you put far more effort into SC than most other developers and that’s probably why you have one of the more popular games on the marketplace.
Keep up the great work Kaalus, and I’m excited to see what comes next!

So bear so cool! I’d like to see more of this beast :) take it out of its cave and get a picture while running for your life! :p Kaalus = epic reporter!

Kaalus, What will be the main direction of the next update? Please tell me that you plan terrain improvements with real realistic large lakes, dangerous rivers, cliffs, terryfing abysses etc.! Lots of work but a very appreciable and fun result. The actual terrain is not realistic enough… I’d like to survive in a dangerous world!

I am normaly quite good at predictions. If I say a ceratain game, music, band, invention show film etc is gonna be big, I am normaly 99.9% accurate. again if I beleive something will flop, i also peddict that accurately.

Survivalcraft is great already I know. This game will knock the socks of the whole world. Just Watch how big it will get.
Symplicity and difficulty in one has always been a winner in the gaming world, from Tailgunner 80’s arcade game to this day.

I saw recently a discussion re a slingshot for firing …say gravel chunks. A question raised being what could be used someone mentioned rubber from rubber trees which i already thought was a good idea. another discussion was the use of circuits and copper so here’s my suggestion.
rubber trees wood cooked in furnace producing rubber, the wood y shape used in crafttable with rubber placed in middle top of y.
then using copper and rubber on table producing electric cable (could be in a block) or you choose a block and add it, which could be layed in the ground walls etc. a switch could be just copper placed on the table in the 2a 1b and 2c possition like the switch symbol.

Umm… There is no such thing as a “rubber tree”. Rubber is a man-made, synthetic material. Besides, Kaalus said he would probably add a sling; much better than a slingshot, and all we need is wool to craft string from.

Actually, belay that, I just received an article about a “rubber tree” that grows in the Amazon. “My bad”.

When I say slingshot I mean catapult UK style wood and rubber or metal and rubber, my dear old father could hit an apple in a tree at fifty feet with his bless him

Well, for that, vulcanizing the rubber would be necessary, which is somewhat “high tech”. Although considering that we can create diamond edges, I think it is possible. I prefer slings though, but I am trying to keep a middle ground here…

Though you wouldn’t smelt the rubber tree, but tap it instead with a tree tap to get stick resin and then you smelt that to get rubber. Though I don’t think the rubber would be used for a slingshot more for covering the wires kaalus might implement into the game to keep from getting damaged by touching the wire. Rubber could further be used for tires, for cattle-drawn carts possibly? Let me know what you think

You and I agree that a rubber insulated cable and the gen use of rubber, as an electrical engineer i know early engineers used pbj cables which were stranded or solid copper covered with paper then rubber and then what they called jute, which was the combination of the rubber and finished with copper,
these cables have victorian origin and still exist today, I know i’m still replacing them. Paper backed jute cables, (pbj) have stood a great test of time although weather can have a huge effect to their lifetime.

underground cables had further covering oils used for insulation on the papers plus covering of the insulated cores by lead bitchumen then further steel stranding then bitchumen and finnaly a jute or cotton covering, as you can imagine these old cables in the ground are as good as the day the were put in the ground. but that gets too blooming complicated for a game like this.

I know you could actually produce vulconised rubber by tapping a tree reducing the sap and adding something like sulphur etc , but given the game allows us to cut down an entire tree inc large amounts of solid wood then carrying 4-20 times of weight around, we should give some flexibilty to the idea of cutting a rubber tree down quickly and putting under some heat to quickly producing a quantity of rubber, the same way we produce coal instead of charcol.

It’s been in the certification for 2 days. A couple of days more and it will pass or fail (if we’re unlucky). Then 1-2 days for it to hit the marketplace.
