Missing snow

In 1.13 and 1.14, when you start a new world there are no longer any snowy/icy areas (unless high in the mountains). This is a bug I introduced when doing tree planting. It’s already fixed for 1.15.

It seems it’s the case of add some and break some these days.

Do you know what else you are going to add in 1.15 besides the new creature

I have some plans but don’t want to talk too much until I am sure they will work :-) I have definitely done a lot of performance work already.

    Kaalus, is the creature large?

      Quite.

        Or a dinosaur

Wouldn’t be a “Dino” because kaalus is trying to make it realistic

Kaalus, are you still working on that new terrain generator you mentioned a while back?

    • Posted July 24, 2012 at 23:28 | Permalink | Reply

No, new terrain generator not a priority for 1.15 yet. But it will come eventually. It’s a big thing that may take more than one release.

Oh, I know. I was just curious as to whether we could look forward to it sooner or later. Perhaps some new biomes could be included with it once it released, and it would be interesting to have some in-land “seas” much like the US great lakes or the Eurasian Black Sea, if possible.

+1, And maybe you could implement fishing?

Fishing would be nice but it’s a lot of work for a small gain

Kaalus I know there was talk about this before but, what else do you think you might add, stuff that you plan to add, even if not possible

Are you planning to add weather effects like rain, snow, maybe fog?

You should make animals you can tame into pets.

I really appreciate your hard work, but I would love to be able to export worlds as Minecraft or MCEdit compatible files, so I could share saves with friends without Windows Phones. The only major issues I can see are having to make all glass unframed, converting oil lantern to glowstone (or pumpkin :-D ) and weather biomes.

On the forum you’ll find a thread where someone is working on a tool to do that. I don’t have time, game is the priority :-)

Kaalus are you going to post a video on the new creature?

    • Posted July 26, 2012 at 13:52 | Permalink | Reply

Probably not soon. Videos take damned long time to make and I am working at 100% capacity right now :-(

You should get someone to help you with things, like maybe making textures, and fixing bugs?

So I created my current map on 1.13. In 1.15, if I travel out to new terrain, can find snowy/icy areas???

I found that when you break stone with your fist you get it back and it doesn’t make sense

    • Posted July 27, 2012 at 20:42 | Permalink | Reply

Not sure what you mean. You want the stone should disintegrate into nothing when you mine it?

I think he means that you should have to mine it with a pic ax. But I think that’s stupid.

With the addition of more and more hostiles are you going to add armor or more powerful weapons? Otherwise the game might feel more like ‘murdered-by-wild-animals-craft’ :)

I think that is the point. It isn’t supposed to be about fighting, it is supposed to be about survival. You aren’t supposed to go out with all of this amazing gear And kill every animal in 1 hit, you are supposed to set traps and kill a couple animals at a time and then run back into the safety of your house.

I didn’t say amazing gear or one hit kills — I mean something more along the lines of a bow and arrows and protective clothing such as leather armor. Both of which are realistic and neither of which give too much of an advantage to the player.
