Hi resolution texture packs

I’ve seen comments on the forums saying that Survivalcraft only supports low resolution texture packs (16×16 pixels per each block). This is not true as far as I know, it probably got confused with the requrement that there must be 16×16 equal sized blocks in the whole texture. Blocks themselves can be any size, for example 32×32 pixels, 64×64 pixels etc. I think phone supports textures up to 2048×2048 pixels, if this is right then there is a limit on single block resolution of 128×128 (because 16*128=2048).

You can see a (ugly) hi resolution texture pack on the screenshot I posted a few posts back. That one used a texture of 1024×1024 where each block was 64×64 pixels.

Unless there is something I don’t know, of course. If so let me know.

hey what happens to a texture pack when there’s a update that adds a new object? Will it just add the default image or will it change back to the default texture pack?

It will use whatever image is in the block of the new item. Normally pink in the default texture pack. It will not revert to default. The game does not inspect the contents of the texture, it displays whatever is there.

Is it possible to make textures for spears or fences yet?

Fences use plank texture and spears/torches/buckets (and maybe more) are 3D models that use a combination of multiple block textures.

After testing various resolution of texture pack (on my smg omnia7), I can tell you that the game handle correctly texture packs up to 64×64 that is to say a 1024×1024 pixels texture pack. I tired 128×128, with only pink color for every block and it crashed every time when launching a world. Think of this if you want to port minecraft texture packs or to create yours.
