Two bugs

I’ve just found 2 bugs in 1.9. Sadly too late to rectify now, will fix in 1.10.

One bug has been present since 1.8 and is to do with grass mass-turning to dirt under snow. If you harvest a block that touches a grass block covered by snow, the grass block will turn into dirt, and this process will propagate to all neighboring grass blocks that are covered, until all of them are converted to dirt. This can cause a large slowdown for a few seconds if the amount of converted grass is large. Btw. this may be the reason some people complain that on digging they sometimes get a long delay.

The other bug is when you have a block directly above magma or water, the magma/water block will be invisible. This was fixed before, but came back through my carelessness because I added some more optimizations to geometry generation.

Both easy to fix but cannot do anything now that 1.9 is in certification :-(

I guessed a related problem with blocks cover by snow or grass that maybe causes some slowdown. Sometimes dirt is both covered by snow and dirt, dirt on the top, snow on the sides. When you dig or place an adjacent block it disappears.
    Here are the captures:

@Kaalus could u plz explain exactly how spawning is going to work on dropbox. Cuz i would prefer if they would spawn in front of my house and not miles away so they could actually see what i am actually showing off, not a bunch of grass. Also will they be able to build or mine stuff?

      Would it be 1.95??

If kaalus wants, he can still bring out an 1.10.
There’s no limit because everyone can make their version numbers as they like.
For the bugfixes, I recommend 1.9.1, but this is impossible to set, because the appHub only allows to set the first and the second digit.

      Anyway, nice work kaalus.
      Dropbox will be great.
And don’t care too much about the two bugs, we won’t die from it.
Just wait and submit the update as soon as 1.9 has been approved^^
Do you implement new things in 1.10 or will it be a bugfixe update only?

Yes i believe that 1.10 or 2.0 should include spawn placement, signs, saplings, and lock mode which can be used so people can not destroy or build anything that you share. Also it should include all dropbox bugs if any.

Yes plz do i am so confused

I don’t think this requires a video. It’s pretty simple really, you can upload/download the world to/from Dropbox, which is just a cloud service for storing files. From there you can do anything you want with it. For example copy it to another device, email it to someone, unpack the zip and look inside to see why it is corrupted etc.

Ok but I thought zip. Files do not work on wp7

Wp7 itself is not able to unzip .zip packages, but this does not mean that Software working on wp7 can’t use it.
for example the NES-emulator is using .zip packages, too.

Survivalcraft uses a 3rd party library to handle zips. They work just fine if a little slow.

Kaalus, and what about getting game in Beta testing version? It’s really good now, and, I think , you should get in Beta. How do you look at it?
