Old dev video

I am working on adding Dropbox support to the game and it takes a lot of time. I somehow cannot focus on it, I think this is just not my kind of thing. I caught myself trying out some framerate optimizations and experimenting with orthographic cameras, anything really to stave off the dreadful bit of web programming I have to do :-) The problem with it is that it’s not a playable feature…

Anyway, while desperately trying to find any excuse not to work on it, I stumbled upon an old Survivalcraft dev video that I made for a friend back in August 2011. It’s got no textures or lighting to speak of, it only runs on a PC and it’s all a single flat block type. But it shows how much Survivalcraft progressed in the last 6 months.

Why not use SkyDrive instead of DropBox? All WP users have SkyDrive and it will soon have a Dropbox-like PC client too. And 25GB for free.

I think Kaalus uses XNA (don’t know) but I think you can’t use this Live SDK with XNA. Please prove me wrong :)

The top in the world is there for a reason that’s why you have to limit your buildings.

That’s pretty cool. Keep up the good work. I hope Dropbox starts cooperating with you so we can move our game saves around. If not, maybe Microsoft will remove head from ass and give us more freedom with SkyDrive. Either way, I’m content for now because the Lumia 900 has been pushed back till next month.

yea..it might be interesting to have the version you play on PC autosave with the version you have on the phone

ex: play on PC then grab WP7 and keep building that world on the go

There’s something called a windows phone emulator for the computer that allows you to play sc on it, but im not sure kaalus would like it very much….

Hmm leather from boars, correct me if I’m wrong but that’s a bit strange.

leather can be made from any animal hide. Footballs are made from pig skin (or they used to be anyway), which is a type of leather.
