I hit an unexpected problem with the new animal that I am adding, basically it is bigger than a bird, and the collision system is not coping with it as I would like it to.
To take my mind off it for a while I spent a couple of hours today adding something completely different: a trapdoor. I recently noticed that it was missing. Without it all your cellar shafts are so unsafe :-)
As visible on the attached picture, trapdoors come in two flavours: wooden and iron gratings. You open and close them the same way as doors. They will become available in Alpha 1.7.
Btw. we are now up to 85 different block types, which is exactly 1/3 of all the available block IDs. But I don’t think we are going to run out of them anytime soon, because a lot of id-hungry content is already there. Anyway, it’s good to know that we can still add 170 more if needed :-)
Also in the last post I forgot to mention that self-stabbing spear problem with sneak mode should be fixed in 1.6.
