First of all, thank you for all your comments to the last post. I now see that I was right about the animals being more important. I haven’t done much work on them yet, but in the meantime I found a rendering optimization that gives about 10% FPS increase. Awesome! I was sure this is not possible, but there you go :-) I am sure people who complained about performance will be 10% happier now. Another thing I added is smooth fade-in of new chunks of terrain as they become visible. So no more ugly popping. To be more precise, there is still some popping due to lack of shaders, but much less than before.

Alpha 1.2 update is still in certification but it should be out shortly.

Kaalus, you hardly ever take a break do you? With regards to your improvements in performance, that would simply be amazing as it already runs well on my LG Optimus 7, even on full. So, the improvement would only enhance the game further. Way to go Kaalus! :) Also, the fade-in of blocks now would only make the game run faster and better. Amazing job Kaalus

Good work. Also, go try Craft World on the marketplace. It looks like some competition is arising. I still thing Survival Craft is far superior to that. But it doesn’t hurt to check it out.

Sounds great, a fluent gameplay is the basic for everything else! Thank you for working so hard :)

Kaalus, when you add animals now, could we also be able to craft a fence please?

Kaalus, I don’t know if you saw, but a game called “Craft World” is out. Tried it, I have to say it’s a pretty bad game. Reviews in France : 4,5/5 for you, 1/5 for theirs. Your game is waaaay better than theirs, but you should keep an eye on them ;)

All of you bashing Craft World have to notice a few good things.

I like the more colorful appearance of the game, each Minecraft Clone has their own look and I have to say I like theirs.

The game has a bit more starting content then even Survivalcraft at launch.

The controls, while needing work, work fine for the game and the right thumb for jumping while you move was actually a good, if a bit hard habit to break, idea.

The game already has a simple bit of crafting, with a crafting guide, and a obviously different algorithm for terrain generation that makes the game look and feel unique.

The endgame ideas/visions for both Survivialcraft and Craft World are completely different so there is no reason to not give both a shot. For $1.29 is it really not worth supporting the other guy?

It also has a built in crash reporting ability and able to take screenshots already.

    Now The bad.

The graphics engine while looking good, definitely needs a bit more tweaking for phone use. However the full res while slow, looks downright fantastic.

The sound is IMO better, but lacking variety.

The game has a lot of broken elements and crash bugs which force close the game at random moments. (Don’t try building torches, it WILL Crash)

The auto save is meh at best and when you just quit the game (back button to quit to the menu) the save time does take a moment.

Movement speed is smooth, yet about 1/2 as fast as all the other games making covering ground take a while.

No autojump yet either (SC didn’t either so no biggie)

Controls while feeling good, are slightly laggy due to I believe a smoothing effect. Nothing big but it does make them feel less responsive.

The tap to mine/place ability is way to sensitive and partially broken since you cannot mine with blocks or place able objects in your hand. Not a huge deal, but it is annoying to start mining, pick up your first block of dirt, and instantly place it back because you forgot to click on an open slot to get your hand back. :/
Also with it, when your thumb moves outside of the movement boxes but you are still moving, it will still pick up your thumb to start mining areas as you go. Quite annoying and inconvenient IMO, it needs more of a tap and then hold to mine to keep accidental mining down.

Super low range on block pickup. You have to be almost right on top of the block to pick them up if you mine at any distance in front of you. Not a huge deal, but annoying when you are trying to pick up many or something within a block.

Still, a lot of what these guys are going through is probably what Survivalcraft started as, only they prioritized having content rather then fully polishing and bug fixing to start. Survivalcraft had a more polished feel right out of the gate, but was lacking a lot of what is in the first release of Craft World surprisingly.

They are both great games and I can see them both doing great things. Get them both and play either one you enjoy more. Between updates is a great time to play the other. (Considering I am waiting for the 1.2update before I start a new world in SC, I am tinkering all to heck in CW. :)
