Ladders work in progress

I am now working on the ladders. The visual side is pretty much finished, what is left is to make the player climb them. Not sure how difficult it will be to do with touch interface.

The ladder model uses quite a lot of geometry. If someone places thousands of them all around the place, it may visibly slow down the phone. But the alternative is a flat billboard, which when I tried it looks as if it was painted on the wall. So I went for the expensive one :-)

    Great news Kaalus!

    About climbing mechanics: I was thinking about simply locking left and right move controls as soon as the player climbs up a ladder. I’m pretty much sure that otherwise ladder climbing will become a very dangerous business :)

    I hope you really talk about “thousands” of ladders :) otherwise I would prefer a flat one, at least for my one year old HTC Mozart -.-

    Maybe, once you move onto the block containing the ladder, have a set of up and down arrows appear on screen. I feel that that would be the simplest approach and would solve the problem of “accidentally navigating” off of the ladder.

      Also, keep the Move pad functional for navigation left and right if there are ladders side by side.
      Just some ideas.

    Very nice.
    I hope, that ladders won’t slow my phone down, as said on the first comment, I also have an first gen device (LG E900), so I don’t have much power.
    But I think that you’ll do it as well as you can.
    Please don’t delay the update to long.
    Make more, short updates rather than long, big updates please.
    I’m missing so many things which I know from minecraft (Redstone, seeds [for plants, trees usw], buckets [I can’t make a pool now :( ]), but this game is still Alpha and new, so the things will come in the future.

    (Reading/Listening to english is not so difficult for me as writing is, so sry, if my grammar is bad)

    Hi! Great update! But i found a bug: thometimes i cant climb up some steps… Then i cant jump too.
