The update is submitted

I finally managed to submit Alpha 1.1 update for certification at Microsoft. It will take several days to filter through the system. If it doesn’t fail, it should likely be downloadable sometime next week.

As promised, here’s the list of all changes I implemented:

  • Take a photo to your phone’s media library using the new camera button.
  • Improved lighting model with maximum light propagation of 15 blocks (versus 8 in Alpha 1.0).
  • Torch with light range of 13.
  • Wicker lamp with light range of 15.
  • Tools damage added. Tools will wear out with use and eventually break.
  • Iron ore and iron ingots added.
  • Copper ore, malachite and copper ingots added.
  • Wooden pickaxe and wooden axe added.
  • Stone shovel, stone pickaxe added.
  • Iron shovel, iron pickaxe and iron axe added.
  • Framed glass block added for better windows.
  • Lost health slowly recovers over time (a temporary measure until a proper system is added).
  • Trial period extended to 15 minutes.
  • Controls sensitivity can now be changed in settings. Slight tweaks to controls to improve usability.
  • Tap time can now be changed in settings
  • Brightness at night can now be increased in settings to support phones which have poor dark shades reproduction
  • “Despair button” to get stuck players out of their misery
  • Sleeping added. You can only sleep on a dry, soft and cosy ground and where there is enough shelter around you.
  • Sleeping sets respawn point. No more respawning at the ocean shore.
  • Solid iron block and solid copper block added
  • Gravel will now spawn at beaches sometimes
  • Autojump function added
  • Recipaedia added containing all recipes available in game
  • Display time since last death, as suggested by puncheverything on the forums.

If you read this list closely you will find that there isn’t leaves degeneration there. I gave it a try, and I thought that it will be a quick job. Unfortunately I underestimated the amount of CPU processing required for the brute-force algorithm. A better algorithm is needed. I now know better how to approach it, but unfortunately it would take me at least a day if not two to get it done. I don’t want to delay the update anymore, so I have to postpone it for the next one. As a consolation, I decreased the time it takes to hack through leaves.

    Sounds great……..i follow ur Block the last day since i saw ur game at the marketplace…..i bought it yesterday…..and I think it wasn’t a failure……..I’m looking forward to the update and I just want to say …..GOOD JOB *.*

    (Ok, now I know why I couldn’t build a pickaxe ~~)

    – Brightness at night can now be increased in settings to support phones which have poor dark shades reproduction
    (Perfect, didn’t see anything at night)

    -Recipaedia added containing all recipes available in game
    (Nice)

    Is there also a fix for ‘splitting Items’ planned?
    I have problems to split Items correctly. Sometimes it works, but in general I have to tap twice to split
    Items finally. (HTC HD7)

    Please, keep up your work. This is the first game I really enjoyed playing since the harvest.

      I have this issue as well, must be isolated to the HD7 then since that’s what I have.

    Yeah ! You’re awesone ! I love your app and it’s very hard work you make on it ! Now monster in Alpha 1.2 and it’s gonna be perfect ! (of course with eating system, armor, nether, the End, wool and color wool, dungeons, TNT… sorry, just kidding ;D)
    Seriously, i love you and your app but now i don’t want to leave the bus at my stop :'(

      Also, you can actually edit your marketplace review if you go into it from your phone, or login online. You can change your star rating and edit the comment. :)

    even more then i expected, respect kaalus! i*m looking forward to it :) one pointis about changing glass blocks, will the ones i already created and used for buildings also change automaticly?

      There is no change to regular glass. There is a new block of glass added, which has a wooden frame around it. Craft it from sticks and regular glass.

    My question about the new ores how far away from what we’ve built will they be? I assume there’s a certain range

      Any square of 16×16 blocks where you have changed any block will not have the new ores.

    You’re amazing man, outstanding job. I cannot wait, I’m too scared to play my character is sitting on 1 heart and I don’t want to run around until I can regenerate my health!

    Amaaazinnng! Especially the torches, was difficult for me to play at night. Also, the photo thing is good, i’ll be able to show on the forum the house I made! :) All the other things are amazing, but the torches and the camera are for me the best :)
