Custom shaped blocks

Yesterday I decided to work on custom shaped blocks, leaving creatures for later. Reason: it is easier :-)

I made a lot of progress, but still nothing to show. Actually the reason I want this done as soon as possible is that there is only a placeholder light source in Survivalcraft at the moment – a blocky lamp that you can craft from a plank and a piece of coal. It is quite ugly and I want to replace it with something better, maybe a torch.

A side note on lighting in Survivalcraft: due to phone CPU being rather slow I had to limit light propagation distance to 8 blocks (from 15 in Minecraft). I may need to reconsider this and increase it a little, because at the moment it is difficult to get a building lit without placing crazy number of windows everywhere. There is still some optimization potential left in the light propagation algorithm, so I may try to recoup the losses by optimizing it better.

Certification is still in progress and I am getting a little impatient with Microsoft, although they are still within the time limit.

    great game. :=)

    A question: Can you add a function to importing and exporting survival maps to the “Survivalcraft” ? To share maps with other people.

      Good question! I was thinking about it quite a lot. I want to add ability to share maps at some point, but I haven’t figured how exactly yet. Ideally it should be very simple, because it is on the phone.

        Yes, good question. :D

        a) You need a external server for all the maps to upload and download. And you make a menu point in your game with
        –> Marketplace
        –> Find maps
        –> Upload maps (Select map file and screenshot)mes
        A big database for all the maps, like + Community area ..

        or/and a new idea

        b) A menu point “Adventures”. Little Jump and Run, Thinking and skill Levels.

        You can make so much things in your games. ^^

    I would prefer you to send the apphub Team a e-mail because of the certification. I’m also a developer and I know that they sometimes forget you ,my account activation took 2-months :D

      Trial only lasts a few minutes before it locks you out and asks you to purchase. Felt too short to really try out the crafting.

        Trial mode allows you to create and play unlimited number of worlds, but any one world can only be played for 5 minutes. If a lot of people will think this is too short, I may extend it in the update.
