First, something not game related.
As usual on Tuesdays I went to play badminton at the local sports centre. Everything was fine until I felt like a tennis ball hit me in the calf, and could not play any more. It turns out I pulled my muscle :-(
For the first time ever I had to use crutches to move about… This will take weeks to heal. It’s even quite funny, because I will have to climb a ladder tomorrow, and not in the game either, but real stuff. If I fall off, this might be the end of Survivalcraft as we know it :-)
Speaking of which. On the game front I am trying to cram as much stuff in before Christmas as I can, but as they are quickly approaching, I will have to stop soon. The bow needs a few finishing touches.
If you’re reading my twitter, you know that you’ll need to manually load an arrow before shooting. I think this is more realistic than automatic reload, and gives a more immersive experience. What I still need to do is to add a source of materials for the bow string and make aiming more challenging.

Your thinking of a violin bow, bows use cotton or a synthetic material.
For making it a little more difficult to aim maybe when the arrow is drawn, at the fullest power or tension, it wiggles or wiggles more.

…. On the 6th day of Christmas Kaalus gave to me.. 6 sharp Arrows, 5 Reindeer grazing, 4 Tigers growling, 3 Iron fences, 2 Mono Environment Generators and a Bow to kill a donkey..

Everyone do not request anything this is a bad situation this could be the end of survivalcraft. And that’s worse than anything I love survivalcraft and minecraft I like both and I would of never played survivalcraft and loved if wasn’t for my friend getting me into minecraft and I wouldn’t of known what minecraft was and might of never ever found survivalcraft or anything I’ll tell the story and don’t forget I’ve stopped ze God of evil more times than ever.
But here will be my story here In a few.
You see I was twelve at the time my friend spyro135 or David he told me about minecraft and I liked then christmas came around my old android tablet shattered and I my grandma got a kindle so she aloud me to search the appstore on her kindle so I searched up mcpe then I found an app it was called survivalcraft so I found the demo and downloaded it then I played and liked then later I got my own kindle and bought the full survivalcraft game and I loved I introduced it to my friends and they all liked but then I found this blog’s web link at the bottom of the home page I clicked on it and found my way here. And I actually liked it here, I friends and everything like Marlon, whitestripe, and ash. Then I met ze God of evil cake and defended cake and toasted ze God of evil’s buns (ah my buns!) And later I met spottedcloud and blackstone and the rest of comment clan.
And so came to be me a young 13 year old boy. You see its been a whole year I’ve been with survivalcraft and this is a dire situation kaalus could die and we survivalcraft will be no more but I got a plan just in case I’m gonna have a talk with spottedcloud maggieblue and roslyn b to see about creating a blog for everyone in the survivalcraft community.

Hmmm let’s delve deeper into this guys…the bow string has been coded so he needs to add materials (plural) meaning more than one…so he has to just give us a method of procuring these items. I think it could be either a cotton source or a wool source.. If is a cotton source, perhaps we could be getting a new crop? That would be awesome. Now let’s take a look at a wool source.. We could get wool from a new sheep or another new animal, which would also be awesome, or a drop from a animal we already have, which would be great, Maybe get a wool block from it? Either way this means we can now fashion a bow string. This could be a great lead in into future crafting of a possible fishing line, which would be also awesome. The arrow heads are self explanatory I believe, sticks with a wood tip, stone tip, iron tip and a diamond tip.
I don’t really put this game in a primitive time. I.e. Electronics. There is no time reference in this game, it could be the past, present or future…To me it’s a game that I build stuff with.

It is very unrealistic to add a whole new crop or animal when you already have an animal with the potential to drop sinew or raw hide
I do not believe it’s unrealistic to add a new crop, people have been asking for a new crop. As for a animal, I think he would rather add a new animal rather then make a existing one have a new drop. We have only one animal as of now that drops leather, and I think the leather will be exclusive to the saddle only. I don’t believe sinew or raw hide makes a great bow string, sinew and raw hide tends to stretch opposed to cotton or wool. But it’s whatever, I just like to debate topics while we wait for the updates. My money is on wool. Hey but ya never know.

MC uses string dropped by spiders, usually called silk. Wool is a spun textile and does not have the strength to withstand a bow. Silk is a single stranded textile and was used in bows until the invention of nylon.

Kaalus is trying to put as many things as possible, so we shouldn’t suggest something new right now. It would be a little hard, trying to create a new crop. I agree with survivalman1. Raw hide would probably work for now.

Yeah wool is a bad idea … it’s got a lot of stretch in it (depending on how it’s spun). You don’t want that, and the wooden bow flexing at the same time – the prey will just laugh at you as the arrows fly wide of their mark, and then turn round and attack you! But some kind of ‘fabric-related’ crop would be nice for clothes … wool for the cold areas, cotton for the warm areas etc.
Cotton is twirled, just like wool. It’ll pull apart under the strain, just like wool.

Animal’s fur… wolves have fur, but it would be coarse. Perfect for making clothes, though. Alpacas? The way Kaalus is going with the more animals at a better scale of realism could lead to beautiful alpacas. Davidthegreatblogger said that alpacas were in the coding. Maybe he’ll add it in a very near update

For bow string I was thinking maybe adding spiders in caves. The connect walls and ceilings together through their web which can be used for bow string and maybe if u kill em they drop spider legs which u can use to make something.

Sort of. It’s WAY harder to play than it looks.
And to Kaalus: be careful. My dad tore a tendon in his leg while playing badminton (years ago) and he has a giant scar from surgery on his leg now. A more dangerous sport than you’d think, eh?
Sadly, it appears that adding a bow and arrow won’t really help against the ever increasing horde of deadly animals. It will require manual loading and be hard to aim. If the damage is anything like a spear it will be virtually useless. Efforts to make the game more “challenging” are making it an exercise in frustration. Unless you’re on Harmless it’s ridiculous how long it takes to do things because of constant attacks.
The damage rate will probably be higher than a spear. Spears are hard to aim and hard to pick up once you fire them. And, depending on which animal you fire at, you might have a horde coming after you. Arrows, will probably do twice the damage of their spear predecessor. Wooden arrows: not much to say here. Probably 1-2 damage. Stone arrows: Hm, a bit better 2-3 damage. Iron arrows: Probably heavy 3-4 damage. Diamond arrows: Now we’re getting somewhere 4-6 damage, possibly. Remember, these arrow damage counters are just estimates.
Diamond spear does 7damage. So the arrow would do 14?

The bow might have a huge range and if you position yourself some place the attacking animal can’t get you, you should be safe. (I assume)
I think the bow is for a offensive purposes, like hunting rather than defending yourself… Nothing can beat a machete IMO ;)

Its actually not difficult if you just stay away from an animal. Not fight a rhino up close. The arrows go longer and probably faster and more powerful than spear. Arrows are VERY useful.

Yes his health comes first, but as we all know Kaalus is a devoted and hard working individual so it may be difficult for him to say no to it, it could be another job he holds, therefore he is committed to it as much if not more to it.

you can still touch them, the previous materials used were for traditional bows meaning when bows were first invented, they might still use those materials today, but probably in Europe. I believe they use materials more on the lines of flexy metal materials and things related
p.s. I suck at giving explanations…. lol
For those of you wanting cotton or wool they would both be unrealistic for bow string. Both of those materials are spun and they would not take the forces put on them by a bow. Cat gut is also second best since it toughens with age.
The natural choices are linen, silk, and hemp. Modern material is almost exclusively some type of nylon.

Get well soon. Obviously there will be string for the bows. I think there should be fishing rods. Fishing Rods will attract all aquatic animals except for orca.Fishes will bite the hook of the line. Once a fish is caught, it must be reeled in, otherwise it will escape. Once it is reeled you can either wait for it to dehydrate( if reeled into land) or kill it straight.
NAAAH WE DONT NEED SHEEP! LEATHER FROM COWS IS ENOUGH! DONT ADD CREEPERS OR SPIDERS OR ANY HOSTLE MOB FROM MINECRAFT CUZ THAT TAKES AWAY FROM THE GAME! It would NOT BE FUN
I think he should at least add a zombie skeleton= zombie with parts of skeleton showing……even though this would be unrealistic (like the werewolves) it would bring more immersion to the game.

Kaalus can’t do anything for Blackout, and it lasts only a few days, so Kaalus could release it later for (cr)apple.
I don’t see why should Kaalus make this update smaller just because of (cr)apples Blackout. It wouldn’t be fair for others.

I am at a lost for words…. Don’t get me wrong, I looooove sc, it’s a better game, I.e. Graphics, controls, sounds… But this update for mc is unbelievable….. I wish, I wish…. I wish….the next SC update is geared towards the builder and survivalist. More blocks(as I always ask for) more items more crops… Sc has enough game setting options, go ahead and set your environment, tweak the block type… But those things don’t make up the world your living/playing in… It’s all the LITTLE things that make the/our world rich with life, with personality, unique to an individual’s style or creativity. Sc needs more crops, more furniture more blocks… Sigh…
Just Tried Minecraft PC Update… Still no comparison to Survival Craft with infinite worlds like Eden World Builder… The worlds are far to small very limited, found myself bored after a couple of hours…. minecraft PC is still way behind, well in my opinion anyway I’m afraid… Edens update still hasn’t come from over 2 year or so… Survival Craft appears to be the only game which the developer cares, listens and updates the games on the users requests, therefore I use this game the most often.. I do agree though more blocks would be great.. in EDEN glass can be painted along with virtually any other block makes it slightly more flexible in builds, and ICE that you can slide on (Like mine carts) and corners to change direction for auto transport.. but SC has far more other features… looking foward on how these games will progress…. Almost Forgot Hope you get better soon Kaalus!

I agree, I read thru the MCPE new features, which are nice, and having carts and redstone is great. I took one for a spin. I don’t know how MCPE redstone compares to SC electronics. But in the end what decides it for me is SC’s world and texture and picture SHARING. Sorry for the caps but their absence in MCPE is as glaring as the absense of multi-player is in SC. So I stray to MCPE for the occasional multi-player but otherwise I stay in the SC community (does MCPE even have a community? If so I bet it is not as interactive and fun as SC’s texture, worlds, community building, etc). I also hesitate to build anything to nice in MC only to have a Creeper blow it up.
I have put off buying MC PC because I know I will never return from it; and I will forget to eat, sleep, bathe, etc ;)

I have 2 chests filled with Diomonds and iron :D im good on survival……..OK im carefull….. TO CAREFULL….NINJA BEAR attacked me when I was in a cave I killed a Differ bear and NINJA BEAR came out of the roof it freaked me out so much.
I think things like zombies and any other unrealistic mobs should only be available in creative or there should be an option for it in survival it would be great for maps
Yes when creating a world an option for toggle DANGEROUS MONSTERS zombies,bigfoot, etc.

They could spawn in beaches, snowy beaches, ice areas in ocean/sea.
They could eat fish.
Not hostile. They’re friendly.
UNLESS thy are sea leapords ( type of sealion that os EXTREMELY dangerous)
Please add multiplayer, village, more varieties of trees, boards, steps, more ore, people, more animals (pigs, cows, chickens, ducks), rail, trolleys, such as pet cat, dog and other.

Lightning should make a tiny tunnel a little bit downward into the earths surface SC IS WAY BETTER THAN THE MCPE
Noticed the amount of monsters I can spawn with eggs has been extremely reduced. I absolutely can’t build adventure maps without the eggs. Its ruined a major aspect of creative mode. Plz increase spawn limits.
