Some say that the ocean is a dull place in Survivalcraft. In 1.22 I am trying to change that. Here’s how:
It’s a big creature, and the first one of the kind. It will kill you in one or two jaw snaps. Because it’s so big, there have been issues with it. The engine does not handle it very well and the movement is not as smooth as I would like to, but I hope to get them resolved.
For the last few days I’ve been tweaking pathfinding. Alas there are still cases where it does not work, or rather where steering fails to follow the path properly. It takes a lot of time to fix that, because when I correct one snag, it makes some other case break. If only phones were as powerful as PCs…
Now for something completely different. Tomorrow finally I am going for a holiday, yay! I will not have access to the internet for about 9 days. Please don’t be alarmed if I don’t post anything during that time.

When I am back, I will start on the big new secret feature I wrote about last time. Hopefully, I will have a lot of time during the holiday to think the details through.

Just so you know, Orcas are usually friendly towards humans.

Yeah, there’s only been one human death caused by an orca in recorded history. And it seemed as though the orca didn’t even intend to kill the person. It just dragged her underwater, not knowing that she couldn’t breath. Kaalus does need orcas, though.

Kaalus, the problem of this game is, it needs more suspense like places where u can go or ncps with great ai in a village. Even though it’s hard to create in mobile, just try it best to add it.
Like block story, it has suspense where u can go to strange places like hell and the sky palace.

Since this is about surviving on an uninhabited land, i think the npcs should be hostile natives that are hard to beat but have big rewards in chests in their homes. They could live in small villages and attack you on site.

Yes that is true but the y would act like cows and bulls and how they protect the cows so if provoke the orcas or hit them than they should attack.

Whale oil? Adds reward to a risk. Also, gives a good reason for using the boats.
Sir knight, nice idea! U should get oil in the ocean to make lamps that u can mine with u , when u run out of oil u have to craft and put the empty lamp on one box and oil on the other box above it, then u refuel, but the lamp breaks too. Oh kaalus, I think this game needs more suspense, it’s kinda boring to just stay in the same area…..
I agree there needs to be some resource we need to collect in the ocean. Possibly whale blubber from the orca which could be used to make oil… I read a post where someone requested oil lamps. Not sure how oil lamps would be any different from torches though or worth the risk to obtain the oil. Any ideas?
Whale oil also was used as a automatic transmission fluid in cars, and to make margarine and soap…Maybe it could be used to power boats or possibly mining carts in the future of sc… With the new health an hunger factor soap could be needed to keep healthy… Or butter as a new food resource
You can carry the oil lamp during night to light a small area around the player that would be cool

That would be useful at night and you wouldn’t have to waste so many torches… the oil lamps should be like the weapons and tools and run out after a while so you’d have to get more oil

No brittb, u should have an oil lamp on mining, u don’t have to place it anywhere, it glows where u go and its on the other hand, so u can mine while seeing light as u travel.
i really like the idea of using the whale blubber as oil for lamps, but where would we put it? does it go to our bottom inventory (where we put items we are currently using) or do we finally have a use for those slots next to the eat box? i know armor is meant to be put there, but i can see lamps be put there as well.

Does that mean separate ocean biomes will be added to the game? There are already giant lakes now, so it would be a nice addition, creating mini islands as well.

Hunting for fish should be changed a bit to where it can be worth the swim, plus using spears are inefficient from only going short distances in water. If there were something like harpoons or changed spear physics it would make living on the shore worth it a couple of days.

Looks like 1.22 is going to be pretty awesome. Love the game!!! Maybe you should add covered wagons pulled by bulls to transport things or something. Harpoons would be helpful for spearing fish too. Just ideas though

I dont see any point in adding this creature. Why would anyone swim far out to the oceans when there are no islands or land on the other side, just endless ocean. You should add seas as big biomes instead! ITS POINTLESS TO SWIM LONG INTO THE SEA!
Islands are coming. Why else would he make a boat? Why else would he add stamina so players can’t swim for miles? It would be illogical to put this animal when there is no incentive for the player to venture into the ocean. Unless hes putting an oxygen tank, lol. And harpoon gun as others have said, which is cool. Lets hope the island’s do come.
Hey klauss, enjoy your hols you deserve them! One big request, can you looking to adding a menu button? I, like a lot of others have a phone with hardware buttons (htc one in my case) rather than onscreen, but no menu key (like the galaxys have) so I have the ugly black bar taking up screen space it should be an easy job to sort and well worth it, 5 million of us have HTC ones so far plus all the other handsets. Lots of love :-D

Since food no longer restores health there could be herbs that you find and grow. Then you could make a newe type of item called a food table where you would mix the herbs which when you eat would heal you. There would be a basic herb which would be very common and be the base for all herbs then there would be more types which you would mix with the basic herb and the rarrer th herb the more health it would restore. Ex: Common herb= 1 heart, Uncommon herb= 2 hearts, Rare herb= 3 hearts, Very Rare herb= all htypes of herbs with the basic herb to eat and get cured. You could also use the food table to make other food items. Ex: Turn wheat to bread.earts. You could also mix herbs to give special effects. Ex: if you eat an unbalenced diet you get sick and then you could combine two

Great idea! ….you are right of the limitations however….this opens up a whole slew of ideas…scuba gear…flash light…underwater lighting (need rubber trees for insulation)…if you turn down this path people will follow!

Please add: multiplayer, diagnal fences, people, villages, clothing, being able to change items from 3d to 2d in texture packs, islands, getting sick, and giving white bulls a better reason to search for them.
White bulls give you 7 pieces of meat. I killed 2 of them in survival mode and ended up well stocked with food. That’s an okay reason, but I think you should be able to ride them…that would be cool. :)
Just jump on top of them and they’ll walk.

Marlon, ur wrong, if kaalus doesent add multiplayer, block story is working on one and minecraft too, so if kaalus doesent add multiplayer, then this game will go down. I’m just disappointed that old got 21.6.0 while we got 21.5.0, im just kinda thinking kaalus is gonna be on ios side more than wp and android. I hope he’s still loyal to work and android.

Island hopping would be fun….i think the focus on expanding the games.fauna is nice…though I would love for klaus to spend his valuable time on details such as corner stairs, farming mechanic, and transport of ores (mine cart or saddlebags for horses/camels), pistons, and generally more survival based mechanics…like beasts coming after you
Now what would be a cool sea creature now here’s how I think it should be down if you swim to far through the ocean you should add a leviathon to keep you from going to far off the island this would be cool basically the leviathon will have to be incredibly large and it should basically have a long snake like body and should have huge teeth and like have scales and a head that looks like a dragons head hopefully you’ll like the idea.
Add predation like wolves should eat cattle and giraffes should eat from trees and the block of leaves they are eating should disappear. Also, add more creature animation. Like with sharks make it so you can see them opening their jaws and closing them. I don’t like why the wolves just run at you and kind of headbutt you.

Ok so Kaalus so i dont know if youll read this but would you please try to add like a sort of laso so you could kinda laso cows and bulls or horses and corral them and like use it when a horse runs away to catch them and make the bulls not be able to attack you when you do it so u can make a better farm. They look awesome. As already stated, maybe you’ll add more reason to actually go that far out. Like islands. I liked the whale oil idea too and the mobile lamp. Maybe instead of holding the lamp it could be a “wearable” item on your head (like the old style mining headlamps). Then you would have to choose between the lamp or the helmet (assuming we get armor/clothing one day)

Just thought that it would be a great addition to the game if along with boats, a new ‘challenge’ was made. This would mean that you would start on the survival craft land and then as you went about doing your things, you could try to find extremely rare items. These items would go together to create maps, boat weapons and a special boat. After crafting all of these you would have the ability to go out int the ocean and using your maps, go to a ‘mainland’ perhaps where the people that marooned you are. However on the journey, the new deep sea animals could possibly kill you unless you defended your boat. At this mainland, there could be villagers and npcs. By adding this it would add more meaning to the game and a reason to play it!

Not to criticize but can you add better fire animations, block that acts like the pistons in minecraft, bows and arrows and maybe multiplayer…(multiplayer it should be in a separate update due to its size) can you also add motors for boats and for motorized vehicles so we can modernize our transportation needs, or make a special block that when you connect it to a creation the creation would move….that would be epic…
The block thing would have four special blocks. One for forward motion one for backward motion and one for left and right motion then you can make a special lever or button to land/go up or down and one to stop
Add natural disasters plz if you are more for survival aspect….this would make it harder due to the extra precautions the player would have to make while building due to the disasters destructive capabilities

minecraft doesn’t have very good multiplayer either. Kaalus is working hard to please us all and a lot of people like the idea of more challenging animals. Find go back to boring MC PE, but you are truly missing out.

Hey Marlon, I’ve kind of got to side with you when it comes to some of your comments. I think your pretty smart if you’re skipping a grade. I am too; except I’m skipping 2 grades ahead. I’m going from 6th to 8th. People who keep calling you dumb are the dumb ones, but please stop all the arguing. Also, spamming is when a message, usually commercial or advertising, is sent to more than one address. I run a blog, a WordPress one, and some of the spam comments are EXTREMELY dumb. They’re nothing like what people such as dangercrafter post. So like I said just drop it. That goes to any arguing person. ;)

Something you should fix is the storms. I’ve noticed that it rains and thunders ALOT in SurvivalCraft and the thunder is really loud. Maybe you could add different weather types. Like wind and it blows sand and gravel around. Also, I think you should make bottles out of glass and have to drink water. Not as often as you have to eat (that doesn’t make to much sense :P) and when it doesn’t rain for a long time, the puddles and lakes will dry up so you can’t get water. You wouldn’t be able to drink salt water because its too salty, but I think that would make SurvivalCraft very fun.

Please stop spamming the blog with comments that are not related to the game itself. This blog is for Kaalus to post statuses on the development of the game and for him to communicate to others about bugs and possible additions.
If you two want to talk to each other then you can use a social networking system such as Skype, Facebook, Twitter, etc. By spamming the blog you are causing more problems for Kaalus as he does not have time to moderate the blog anymore than
he has time to read the 200 comments that have nothing to do with the progression of the game. I mean no offense to either of you but please acknowledge the community and stop posting things not related to the game.

Kaalus, I was watching a YouTube play survivalcraft and he said that you should be able to make a boat and be able to find the boat that switches you. But it would have to be a really strong boat and hard to make, then when you find th ship, they would be surprised about you surviving and then you would beat the game. That would be cool.
Yea but the point of the game is to SURVIVE. When u start a new world when the ship maroons u they say “remember we wont be bak for u!”……i think it should stay that way. Plus if u won the game u wouldn’t need the world u created anymore so whatever u built would be lost.
Thats why when i go to college im going to become a video game creator so everything u people want goes into watever games i create! :-)

zack your house is still their, you were shipwrecked in the bottom right hand corner of the world. every move up (north) is infinite and every move left (west) is infinite too. if you imagine a map where you land in the bottom right south east you have prob moved north west. the easiest way to get back is to head east towards the rising sun in morning until you reach the sea. after that turn right (south) and keep on the coastline. there’s everychance of finding you old dwelling. at night the moon also rises in the east and sets in the west so same aplies. try using both to navigate its very easy after a while.

Zack the chances are you first house was close to landing area in south east.
follow my steps you will find your old area. and yes it works, post back here when you find it. that will help others understanding the map. be prepared to give it a good go. good luck
my 2nd map needed to have sun rises here more over to right to give better understanding.
paths from rock can be laborius but they work very well as do corridors 2 high and 1 wide. glass top can enclose them. signs inside showing n s e w help too. paths and corridors are most economic.. made 5 to 6 blocks above sea level.
If you know the usa well zack its like being shipwrecked on the east coast of florida say cocoa beech you prob went inland and north and ended up as far north as south dacota. heading east will get you to the atlantic somewhere like new york and if you head south down the coast you will end up back in florida.
you will not find your house unless…. well when i lost mine i swapped to creative and managed to fly back but make sure you put like those green and red lights around… and torches etc to lead you back but if you still looking for it since feb then its probs gone

Already persuaded all my friends to get survivalcraft…and get this…they used to play minecraft! Minecraft just lost 16 fans! :-)
Heres some things to add in survivalcraft. Add donkeys that are gray, add hay to keep herds and horses in one spot, add carriages to carry chests and animals,
Donkey move the carriages and you ride the donkey around, add vehicle crafting tables for carriages and cars and vehicle parts.
Add corn and farming add books and bookshelves. Add npcs or farmers and ground effects in which you can see bugs on the ground
add bees and beehives, add bread and wheat, add rakes and tornadoes. Add seasons and wind mills. Add hidroelectricity, add crocidiles
And abandoned buildings. Add multiplayer, for now 2 players only in one world. And airplanes would be nice
too. Add hammers to repair items (tools and cars). That will be all
I’ve got some items I thought would be cool on e Is a leviathon to guard the deepest parts of the ocean and dragons in different forms like water dragons to live in the ocean fire dragons to live in volcanos thunder dragons during thunderstorms shadow dragons for the night time grass dragons to live in grass lands and forests air dragons to live in the sky rock dragons to live in the deepest parts of caves ice dragons to live In places with ice and snow plus also light dragons out during the day and golden dragons to live in temples and black dragons to live in dungeons would you please add these. Oh yeah any one who reads this will you help me cause dont forget if dragons are added this will give a series advantage in survival mode so if you’ve got this why don’t you help ask kaalus for these items. Oh yeah kaalus also add dragon taming combined by putting three raw birds three raw fish and three raw pieces of bacon in the crafting table and also add dragon saddles that are bigger than normal saddles so you can ride dragons. Get friends and family on it too…and get this…i made this great plan…ok so i was riding the bus home one day….i wus persuading one of my friends to play survivalcraft…..the next day at skool i saw someone peeps playing survivalcraft….most of them ride my bus so i knew that whenever ur persuading peeps to play survivalcraft make sure theres a lot of peeps around. :-)

Dear Kaalus, one day in survival craft I was just strolling around minding my own business and all if a sudden I seen this loooooooonnnnnnnngggggggg line in a lake it was light blue and had infinite pots of magma. I covered it up and all but when it was there I was able to stand on it seriously it was creeeeeeppppppppyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!

Caught an orca on someone else’s map! It’s a zoo and they were close to catching it but didn’t. If someone can tell me how to upload it i would be glad to :) (all credit goes to the original map owner even though I changed some things)

I have a pet orca that lives in my pool in my house I attracted him with fish and can you please tad lassos so you can’t catch untamable animals and breeding and more types of horses and wheels and engines or carts that horses could pull thank
Kaluus can you add spawn eggs for pelagic creature? It’s very hard to capture them and they sometimes die in their enclosures. And can you make the controls a bit more accurate. When I try to place a block, I’ll end up hitting the whale inatead even though I didn’t press it. Thanks
